Freelancer - General Discussion

Gotta love how the most upvoted response is objectively incorrect. That’s social media for you haha.

But I digress. I’ll have to do a bit of experimentation to see what knocking or dragging NPCs into shallow water counts as. But with a toilet, it’s definitely impossible to do all three objectives. Just an unlucky combination I guess.

I think I just found an Easter egg.
Shot all the targets and got that sound of fireworks.
Went upstairs and saw that one of the paintings in the hallway leading to the garage changed into the one with the Saint.
I started praying and 47 is acting really weird. He’s wobbling his head, making a fist and rubbing his eye.
It looks as if… he’s crying

Even though we’re not even halfway through March yet, I’ve already put more hours into Hitman 3 in 2023 than I did for the entirety of 2022. I guess you could say I enjoy Freelancer!

You are making me boot the game for the first time in four weeks @Franz.

Edit : no, it’s the normal animation. same as usual. And same as in Sapienza.

The Range Easter Egg is still unknown.

What type of range were you using, and are you sure that the photo had changed from a different / previous setting, or is it possible you already had it set up and just forgot?

I’m one hundred percent certain it changed. I’d never pick the Saint for my interior.
Is the eye rubbing normal? And the head wobbling? Never saw that before.
I used the range with the big circles.

If they were in Hokkaido, they would be perfectly possible since the someone falling in the sauna counts as drowing and then you could throw them off the cliff to hide them. :eyes:

Huh, I didn’t know that. Might be worth remembering in the future.

If it’s the painting to the left of the gym that’s a bug. That painting (along with the one near the ladder in the bedroom) will randomly change to another one for unknown reasons.

Yeah, accident/sedative KOs on targets are considered suspicious for some reason. Only the Kalmer can KO targets without the alert. However there are some exceptional cases where even darts will cause some casual panic. It doesn’t directly cause evacuation, but if a lookout notices the panic, they will alert an entire network to flee.

Non target suspects can be accident/sedative KO’d more safely.

I actually saw someone drown an NPC in a toilet, with banana placed by the toilet so that after the drown animation begins, they slip on the banana too, completing both slip and drown objectives. A glitch workaround that requires precise banana placement, but yeah technically not impossible to do those two with a toilet.

Even if it’s a bug IO should retroactively declare it to be a feature as there should be no reward for losing in Hardcore Mode.

My first showdown fail was due to me shooting the target with a Kalmer. A guard woke them up, then they panicked and escaped. Could have been a lookout alerting, but it was certainly construed as suspicious enough for them all to leg it

Same as me too  I’m absolutely loving Freelancer.

Can’t wait to see what updates we get for it over the coming months.

Thought that was just me it was happening too :joy:

I get that happening to me now and again too. Worryingly, it often persists between exiting and re-starting the game - the only fix I’ve found so far is enabling and then disabling the “Liberal Safehouse” mod (which lets you aim, throw, shoot etc in the Safehouse), but that’s no use to players not on PC. :frowning:

If nothing else, I guess we should all admire the sheer consistency with which you come up with Bad Hitman Takes, on nearly every topic you choose to tackle.

Got a rather annoying one in a Sick Games contract. An alerted territory map in Sapienza, with 4 targets. With difficulty, I’ve figured out how to get to the first 3, as well as the safe and the single courier. The fourth target, however, is the problem: it’s one of the researchers in the lab standing around the virus sample… and one of the objectives is to not change outfits.

Now, this only creates a problem in the sense that I’ll have to snipe the prick with a rifle that uses penetrating rounds, but that will trigger the alarm when the other NPCs see him die, creating another alerted territory for me to deal with after. I might be able to snipe him from near the seaplane and escape before the alarm is raised, but I’m not sure yet if I can see him from that angle.

This leaves me with one other option: does anyone know where all the researchers go when the virus is destroyed? Do they all just hang around near the showers behind the lab, or do any of them actually leave the lab or go somewhere else in the underground cavern?

No? Alerted territories have nothing to do with what happened in the previous mission (unless you failed the previous mission).
You’ll get one more alerted territory with each syndicate in a campaign after the first syndicate.

Wait a minute - I thought if you raise an alarm, like if someone sees you kill a target and guards start pursuing you, it creates an alerted territory, because the syndicate is now on the alert. Yeah, if you fail, and moving to the next stage of a campaign, also create alerted territories, but even succeeding, when you have been busted and outed, it creates alerted territories among the ones you have left in your current contract, doesn’t it?

No lol
