It will also reset your inventory.
Other games have prestige things where you get reset and itās fine because you regain your stuff really quickly. Hopefully the increase to xp and merces rates make it so you get all your weapons back quickly
Maybe the normal game mode but on master difficulty like hardcore, so not everything is alerted so donāt get reset to the start all the time, and you donāt reset all your tools.
I donāt know if that would be good, thereās probably more creative ways of increasing the difficulty rather than just changing it to master
Ah damn you right. Well f that noise. Iām not interested in grinding all my gear all over again. At some point itās just busy work.
I like the new prestige incentive, because well, I would benefit from it.
I got up to the level 50(ish) prestige and havenāt touched the game in a couple months.
Having a gamble that allows me to level up faster definitely sounds nice. I could see how people who rose to level 100 already would not be interested.
Just as long as this new freelancer thing actually gives you alot of XP and Mercers then itāll be worth it, not at all unless
A small digit on a trophy does seem rather underwhelming as an incentive.
Especially since the blog post says there are five trophies to collect - which makes it sound like theyāre seperate from one another.
i assume there will be five separate trophies, but the first one you get also has a counter on it
Especially when itās a two digit count, so itāll look extra weird after it maxes out at 5.
Unless they just meant thereās a challenge for prestiging 5 times (and maybe a hard cap on prestige income bonuses as well), but after that you can still prestige just for the sake of seeing a small number go up.
maybe the later trophies have bigger counters (like a trophy for prestiging 100 times would have a 100s counter, but lets hope there isnt one for that)
Prestiging is fine for more experienced players that have everything already. Should allow me an easier, and at least a less mind-numbing, grind to Mastery 100. But I get the trepidation for most players who struggle with getting though a full Campaign.
The mode is meant for the long term, for better or worse.
Perhaps adding more mastery levels and new unlocks might be good.
It will be interesting to see if the patch removes those odd camera scanning things that show on the minimap across certain locations in Freelancer (like the servers in Miami or the phones in Dubai) - or if they get addressed in some way with the full notes as being future content.
But why not Paris in the auction? Why do I need to use the tuxedo without gloves? Sigh.
I think some of you are not catching the full picture here. As you level up in prestige, you earn more money faster so youāll be able to collect weapons again but in a much faster way.
Iād support new mastery levels added past level 100 if:
- There are actual items/suits to look forward to unlocking, not just more safehouse cosmetics.
- The XP bonuses gained from prestiging are actually significant.
- The new levels need 150000 XP max like levels 90-100, and donāt need even higher amounts of XP.
This right here. I donāt think Iād even need extra mastery levels. I play FL rather sparsely, am around lvl. 50 and only have 3 campaigns completed. Right now I see the Prestige levels mainly as a crutch to help grind the GOAT and EotY challenges, since I can imagine oneās determination drops quite significantly after reaching lvl. 100. But I want there to be (good) item/suit unlocks along the way to keep me going. Rewards beyond unlocked challenges and wall trophies.
I still donāt own the cosmetic packs that include extra weapons that DO have a space on the walls. I have zero plan to BUY said cosmetic packs, therefore i will never technically fill up the walls. Therefore I will never be able to do the prestige levels.
Hope that clears it up.
I donāt think that new mode will count the DLC weapons. So we should be good. Just overall, Freelancer had (and now will have even more) cheap, bullshit, grinding trophies.
