Spring Roadmap 2023 Thread

No mention of Hardcore Objective changes :sob: dang

Anyway I think the Prestige system is great for people who mastered the system.

Not me tho lmao I keep forgetting and losing weapons on missions RIP and I wouldnā€™t want a full resetā€¦ at least for now.

I donā€™t do Contracts Mode much anymore (Freelancer is a great ā€œsingle playerā€ alternative where I donā€™t need to search too hard for content. But Iā€™ll be glad to check out some stuff on the Yacht finally.

Spycam HUD toggle is great, more puddles is great (Spider-Man PS4 in shambles right now lol) and more start points with suit selection is awesome.
I know what Iā€™m gonna do to Edwards once this patch is liveā€¦ :blue_square: :flamingo:

The process of the weapons getting removed looks cool at least.

Was wondering as well. I guess it shouldnā€™t though, because those are optional DLCs and preventing people from doing the Prestige levels without them doesnā€™t make sense, especially towards those who only buy the base version of WoA. Similarly, if The Coin turns out to be an unlock for these, then it also has to be excluded from the checklist.

Frankly, Iā€™d rather see some of the base game weapons get added to FL rather than the cosmetic packs. There are plenty of rifles from the SA mode (the black Druzhina in particular) which havenā€™t been made available, or the X2000 Stealth which actually had a slot in the CTT (although it STILL doesnā€™t have its own unique model). Some of the 7DS unlocks would be cool here as well, which makes me wonder if they can be made available in FL without having to own the DLC.

Good changes. They havenā€™t really mentioned any bug fixes (but there should be around 80, so thatā€™s good) so I hope weā€™ll see more of it next week when patch comes out.

Ah yes, puddlegate!

Dear IOI, GTFO of here with that inventory reset shit. I have to arbitrarily just flush my 2 million Merces, full gear boxes, and full weapon wall, including the DLC packs, just to advance in this new set of Prestige levels? Just stop, please.

Itā€™s already annoying enough losing all my gear when failing a campaign, and itā€™s already annoying enough being forced to flush my gear to switch back and forth from Hardcore mode. Now I have to be ready to flush EVERYTHING? No, just no. I enjoy walking around the Safehouse and looking at everything being full.

This doesnā€™t make Freelancer any harder or more challenging in terms of level difficulty. Iā€™m good enough at Hitman that I can drop into any level and complete nearly any mission starting with nothing in my inventory - itā€™s not even a challenge. But thatā€™s not fun. Itā€™s just annoying, stupid, and grindy for nothing but the sake of being annoying, stupid, and grindy.

I donā€™t have a lot of time these days to play Hitman, and when I do, I want to sit down, relax, and have fun. I donā€™t want to reset everything and grind through collecting everything again and again, 5 goddamn times.

How about adding things to Freelancer to make the mode more fun? Like the ability to use Merces to buy outfits, or buy starting locations, or re-roll stupid prestige objectives, or bribe NPCs, or buy intel on your targets, or customize weapons? I would actually enjoy any of those, but I think Iā€™ll be passing on this new Prestige Level system.

Guess we can consider this incentive to not avoid Hardcore since weā€™re about to lose even more then what failing a Hardcore campaign would cost.

I donā€™t think so. Unless they want to change it with this update, clearly is a bug.

Itā€™s a freelancer tool, and right now we have it only from the wall.

Weā€™re adding a new ā€˜Prestigeā€™ feature to Freelancer that will give you more reasons to play and earn elusive Safehouse trophies for your collection.
At that point, three things will happen:
The base Merces payout and XP gain for completing missions will increase
Adds a Prestige trophy to your Safehouse for each Prestige Level (5 in total)
All items in your inventory, all Freelancer gear, all weapons on the weapon walls and all Merces will be reset to 0, as if you were starting fresh. Your safehouse customisations will not be affected.
Prestige in Freelancer is all about risk/reward.

Just to be clear, does it mean it works like the stock exchange? You click on laptop and surprise! You can be rewarded or scr**ed. Definitely not my cup of tea.
Right now, Iā€™m not really convinced by this systemā€¦ Let see how it works after patching.

You could just not play this new mode and not get affected by it.

What interests me about this new mode is that the notes said it increases XP earned as you go. Iā€™m almost at level 70 mastery right now; does this mean if I start playing this mode before getting to 100, the increased XP earned can help me get to 100 faster? If so, I may start playing it right away. If not, like Hardcore mode, Iā€™ll ignore it until I complete mastery and then decide how to spice things up.

Iā€™m surprised there arenā€™t as many HC changes as I thought there would be, unless more will get revealed when the patch comes. I donā€™t mind Hardcore staying ultra difficult, but some sort of inbetween option thatā€™s challenging yet not that punishing would be great.
No mention of the Coinā„¢ as well. I hope it just got thrown into the bin of mundane fixes that didnā€™t get listed here.
Prestige, is fine, I guess. XP boost may help with getting level 100, but this is far from being the modeā€™s grindiest challenge. Will probably max it out anyway since why not.
Freed suit options are a welcome sight, but Iā€™m worried that Berlin will still lock the firearm and thus lose some value. (IOI please add some of the new Berlin FL entrances to regular game)

Now we wait for the next week.

Considering this update will add a new safehouse trophy in the basement ā€“ and this wasnā€™t even mentioned as a special bonus in the roadmap ā€“ I wonder if the other two updates this year might also have some FL additions.

We know thereā€™s 4 empty slots after finishing 10 of each syndicate, and this Prestige trophy looks like itā€™ll take 1-1.5 slots on a shelf.
So hopefully we could be seeing room for 2-3 more trophy additions later this year?

There are 5 empty slots in total : 4 in the basement, 1 on the upstairs shelves.
There is also the shelves in the Office, that has the an empty top row, but I donā€™t know if itā€™s indicative of anything, or an aesthetic choice.

Besides, as the Ave Maria / meditation trophy shows, you can have trophies outside the shelves.

Iā€™m curious about the prestige trophy for a very stupid reason : I wonder if the digital counter will be used. Will we have 5 different trophy, or one that has the counter tick up everytime ?

Considering its a digital screen, I think weā€™ll see that number tick up rather than have different trophies like that

This is strange - youā€™re supposed to be able to activate that option when you have unlocked everything but on the video you can clearly see theyā€™re missing a couple of handguns (unless they just picked them up?).

Also apparently the DLC packs donā€™t count since the first case is empty, and it starts by removing the contents of the second case so I guess that answers the question about DLC packs?

I was wondering whether the tools were required to activate prestige levels but I forgot about the existence of the coin - since we currently canā€™t get it and IOI didnā€™t mention anything about it I guess full tool briefcases arenā€™t required either? Although I did complete my current campaign and bought everything to fill those briefcases just in case :x

So if you unlock the buried case with the extra Merces, fiber wire and silverballer, but donā€™t collect them, then activate Prestige mode and wipe away your inventory, but it does not affect your mastery unlocks, does that mean that after activating this mode and losing all your tools, you could then go out to that buried cache and get the items you left alone there and begin with them from the beginning? Anyone willing to try this experiment when it goes live?

Hmmmm. I had a thought. 47ā€™s inventory is, for all intents and purposes, infinite. Yes? Sooooooā€¦Would it not be possible to just pick up everything and then switch to the ā€œPrestige Modeā€? And then put everything back. Yeah, the game would complain that your inventory was too full to start a mission, but who cares. Youā€™d still have all your stuff and be able to do the Prestige Mode.

Itā€™s just a thought though. I have no idea if this would even work. I do think it is very possible, since when I switched back to normal from hardcore, I kept some tools on me and they stayed instead of disappearing. But all the weapons on the walls are, well a lot. Might risk a game crash or something.

Edit: I forgot the long guns. I rarely use them, so i kinda forget about them. Damn. Those would still be lost, except for one.

I wonder if the prestige also removes the Classic Baller (I hope it does not), I canā€™t see it there.

Bug fixes: good! Iā€™m sure the missing coin will be a part of these.

Prestige: curiousā€¦ Iā€™ll have to see it in action. Iā€™ve dropped off the game this past month or so, but Iā€™ve still got mastery to go and this might be a good reason to jump back in.

Perfect Shooter change: not my preference actually. I personally think the cameras being off limits for shooting adds to the challenge ā€” and I say this as someone whoā€™s forgotten and fucked up countless times. But I understand that many in the community feel the other way. Will this change also apply to contracts, or will there be two sets of rules? Because that could get confusing and annoying.

Starting suit: great! But I do wish for a full inventory on Carpathian Mountains. I share @Heisenbergā€™s skepticism but I hope @Urben is right.

Unlocks: lame! Gimme more.

I think it is only for freelancer

I am fine with that change but I wish the complications were consistent through the WOA, the ā€œno bodies foundā€ failing with accidents was very frustrating too.
