I will admit, People magazine being the source did raise my eyebrow a bit.
Goddamn, another. IOI curse last year and this year.
The allegations are born from a Romanian complaint inside a much larger investigation. I suspect its primary role is to be part of the procedure with French court to call in witnesses.
It will certainly go dormant for a bit after.
Only known right now because of the procedure was ephemerally a bit closer to the surface as it goes between institutions, and larger than usual with a celebrity name. Before going back to being quieter soon after.
Papers of records wont take it if that’s all. Not their time.
I’d say this means there will likely not be more celeb ETs in Year 6. I say Year 6 cause the contracts for Year 5’s ETs have most likely already been signed. Even if JCVD is innocent (and I hope he is), it just seems to be incredibly risky for IO to continue trying to work with celebrities.
It’s already a bad look with having McGregor in the game for all to see, but if due to court convictions they have to stop using a second celeb ET but keep their likeness in the game it’s exponentially worse.
So here’s hoping that the new Celeb ETs this year don’t have any controversies. And if IO want to bring new eyes onto Hitman in Year 6 too, I’d recommend investing in other forms of new content besides ETs featuring celebs.
He’s had a history of having a bit of an attitude on set with costars, although that’s anecdotal. When he was first announced last fall, I started looking for any bad history on him. A few reports from the nineties, but they came from questionable sources and were mostly discredited, so I assumed he had no more baggage than your average celebrity with some drugs, maybe sleeping around on partners, and a bad attitude at times. It could very well be that he’s being falsely accused, or mistaken information, but obviously, with sexual crimes (and murder for that matter), you have to assume someone has some strong evidence against them to even make the accusation, making it less likely that someone is just trying to tarnish a reputation. We’ll see, but we should be ready for the worst.
I hope the author won’t mind me sharing this, but I think this summarizes my and maybe not my alone attitude to this piece of news
Perhaps IO should start looking at female CelebrETs instead of keeping them as a boys club…
And that celebrity will be accused on the matter discussed.
No doubt
Allegations on celebrities are almost too common these days. But I rather wait for some evidenced before assuming guilt.
Not really safe alternative either, anymore, if it ever was.
I have no links to proof, but a lot of celebrities were accused falsely in hopes that if they are girls they are vulnerable and are victims by default.
Still those celebrities have successfully cleared themselves of all accusations.
Lots of people I’m talking about are football world stars. From the top of my head are С.Ronaldo, Greenwood etc
Yeah, a lot are falsely accused, but they go away quick usually for that reason. Ones who are hoping to actually take the celebrity in question through the ringer, they usually have something legit to do it with, or at least something difficult to prove false.
I think they should do their ET without celebrities.
I’ve been on the internet long enough to know this is not the case, in this day and age anyone can say anything about anyone and people will believe them, even news outlets and courts. I remember the same thing happened with a famous voice actor from my region, he even went to jail for some time but was later released due to lack of evidence.
I will not believe a single thing of what it says here until a sentence is made (if there ever is one), and also should IOI. IMO this kind of threads should only be created once we get a veredict, otherwise it’s just contributing to that toxic internet culture of accusing everyone of anything and coming to conclusions before the investigations have concluded.
Like I said, ones that are just accusations with no substance, they tend to drop off quickly. Those that linger are usually because they’ve got something behind them.
It’s not about the verdict that IOI needs to be concerned about: it’s the image. Simply being associated with someone who may or may not have done something of this nature (and when it’s a celebrity, they very often do tend to have questionable behaviors because they think they are important enough to get away with it) can be bad for business. Right or wrong, they need to consider how this looks to prospective customers.
Again only allegations for now, but just in case this progresses, buy the Splitter DLC now if you haven’t already
I can’t do this, IOI removed Hitman related products from PS Store in my region.
I wouldn’t necessarily say those two are cleared of all accusations…
Ronaldo settled out of court with his accuser, paying her $375,000 in exchange for her dropping the charges and signing an NDA. We only know about it because 7 years later investigative journalists uncovered the details as part of a much bigger investigation into the dark side of football (the same investigations resulted in Jose Mourinho being found guilty of tax fraud, resulting in a 2m Eur fine and suspended prison sentence for example). Vegas police reopened the case at this time but decided too much time had passed for them to be able to prove anything beyond reasonable doubt.
And as for Mason Greenwood… The CPS (the public prosecutors in the UK) dropped the charges after ‘key witnesses withdrew their involvement’, but this doesn’t change the fact of the photos, videos and audio recordings that were initially released that started the case. Transcript from the audio below; saying he’s ‘successfully cleared of all accusations’ is a bit of a stretch
Maybe IOI should consider hiring an actress for the next ET? Rhea Seehorn, Rachel Weisz, Dame Helen Mirren, etc.
