A prime sub DOES “support a creator” financially same as any normal sub, but isn’t eligible for paid sub Drops for some reason.
Possibly because they want you to purchase your way into an auto-recurring subscription and forget? (The free prime sub only goes for a month and stops. You need to remember to re-check it to stay subscribed – and get every monthly game manually too)
Or encourage more spending from customers individually instead of having that cash-flow go through Amazon Prime’s service?
No way to really well why it’s that arbitrary. But that’s the way it is.
Okay, so with the release of the new free Seasonal Decorations and CelebrET DLC, there’s new stuff in the safehouse.
But please, IOI… don’t give me notifications on objects that I don’t own!
Entering the gym to find a bunch of Star icons, making me think there’s something I have that I didn’t check out yet, but… no, it’s just new Splitter items that I can’t access anyway…
It’s been the same for every ET DLCs so I wouldn’t have expected the Splitter to behave differently. Kinda weird all of them aside from the Undying focus on the gym though :x
So one streamer revealed on their stream that IO gave a bunch of other streamers early access to The Splitter ET so they could record content for their YouTube channels, to promote the game/ET.
Unfortunately, it was also stated by this streamer that one of the others streamers IO selected was atrioc. The guy that got busted for using an AI porn site that was using other streamer’s faces without consent - including people he knew and his friend’s partner. Which had a huge backlash due to using female streamer’s likenesses without consent and the deepfakes distributed online.
Do better choosing who you want to do stuff with. First Conor McGregor, now this moron as well? Seriously… Do you look into people’s pasts at all or do you not care as long as it can lead to game sales?
This guy should’ve been blacklisted like MrFreeze2244 was years ago. @Combatglue
IOI, Hitman devs, Combatglue… Please make an account on BlueSky. Get away from Elon’s melting website, please… (Also so I can better keep up with news, I barely use twitter anymore)
Also about a day ago, IOI/Samir and friends held a livestream talking about the patch notes and roadmap! (…did anyone on the forums notice? Did we get notified about it here?)
They used the HITMAN twitch channel instead of the IOI Official channel… Why do you guys have two channels and how long has this been going on?
Ahhh… so that’s two behind-the-curtain streams I missed now… Awww
to give a little extra knowledge to this situation, atrioc had a 6(ish) month hiatus after this incident
during that time, he invested his own time and money into having all those likenesses removed from the sites (through use of an ever-running kill code that he co developed), and during the process earned thanks and forgiveness from pretty much all the people that were affected by it
i’m in no way saying that excuses his mistakes, but personally i feel if the people involved in the matter could see it to forgive him then who are we to push for a blacklist? everyone has the capacity for mistakes, i believe taking accountability and steps to rectify those mistakes should be largely considered when making an overall judgement of someone
he also has had more success in promoting hitman to a much wider audience than almost any other content creator, through both regular streams with fellow speed runners & multiple competitions that invite anyone and everyone to attempt a custom made contract to win large amounts of money straight from his pocket
this alone is reason enough for IOI to be grateful towards him, and as i said above if the people directly affected by his actions aren’t pushing to cancel him then i don’t see why IOI should feel differently
just my two cents, obviously it’s a murky situation that i’m sure a bunch of people will feel differently about
to compare that to the mrfreeze situation, (i was a regular viewer of both channels around the time of the “incidents”) i’m fully aware of the atrioc situation because he himself was fully transparent and published a video explaining the whole incident when he returned to youtube
i’m only aware of the mrfreeze incident because i heard it through secondhand sources, as far as i know he’s never mentioned it in any way which feels more like trying to sweep it under the rug
also not that it should have any impact on the situations, but mrfreeze has long been a HEAVY critic (some could say chronic moaner) of almost everything IOI does around hitman. it’s not dissimilar to a lot of the comments on the forum, but on a platform like youtube that kind of disposition and tone doesn’t exactly do any favours for IOI in the way of attracting new players
again, just my opinion and anyone is welcome to disagree
Only because he got caught out and wanted to try save face and not have his content creator career die. It wasn’t something that was in the works beforehand, so it doesn’t count.
If they’ve purposefully distanced themselves from Conor McGregor for sexual assault and blacklisted MrFreeze2244 for using his Hitman channel to groom underage children - there is a recurring theme here on when IO choose to distance themselves from someone. Now they’re just selling out/ignoring it for financial gain by having their game promoted and it should be called out that they’ve made a bad call.
Especially since the recorded video hasn’t even been posted.
again it’s only my opinion, but i think actual SA and underage grooming are quite more severe than looking at a porn site. it’s weird af, don’t get me wrong, but his actions didn’t directly harm anyone involved
Besides the emotional turmoil he created for the people whose likeness was used because he accidentally promoted the site in question which had a surge in usage prior to them pulling the content. Which would’ve been pre-downloaded and will live on forever on the internet now because nothing is ever gone forever.
i can’t really argue with that. i dunno i just find it very murky as i said, and if everyone affected by it forgave him for it i can’t help but feel like it carries some weight
it’d be easy for them (at least some of them) to double down and say “yeah thanks for that but you’re still a scumbag”
Atrioc is just great. One of the only streamers who pulls off really entertaining Hitman content that has actual mass appeal. He’s done a lot for IO and he deserves the recognition.
And he is not the devil. I know that modern morality basically begins and ends with everything consent, and somehow the ethical rules of deep-fake porn being written in real time with a developing technology made it so that someone watching deep fake porn basically is doing SA themselves (hence the Conor McGregor comparison that people make here). I think it was an embarrasing and clearly wrong thing that he did. And it is also a very people-like thing to do. Someone having a wrong fantasy about a friend of the other gender on a long night? Never happened in the history of human beings before. Our culture grew out of religion and, in our arrogance, threw every piece of wisdom out with it. There is no forgiveness on the internet. Only cynical, moral grand standing. Feels so good to feel right.
