Season of Awakening: roadmap discussion (spring '25)

VR is also niche in comparison to the larger player-base. While 1 in every 10 players may get to experience this and the novelties VR2 brings that’s still 90% of the player-base that get to run through their favorite levels flicking a purple coin but in third-person.

Sure it’s a big deal, but that big deal is effectively gate kept towards the people who don’t have the hardware to experience IOI’s hardwork.

While I won’t underplay IOI’s success with this hopefully definitive version of VR. Part of me wishes VR altogether was scrapped in favor of content everyone and anyone can access and enjoy.

Yeah. That suit has a lot more below the belt you can’t see here…

…And even I’m put off from it, as a bird…

Have the new safehouse decorations been mentioned anywhere? I only found out because of this thread but couldn’t find any mention to them on the roadmap blogpost or the patch notes.

It’s strange that they would shadow drop such a heavely requested feature.

This is off topic, but to answer to @Heisenberg from yesterday, I can definitely confirm that this has been fixed.

I haven’t checked myself, but based on player’s posts (unless that’s mods) I think yes, they are in-game officially now.

They just somehow forgot to mention that in the patch notes. (They mentioned it for the Christmas and Chinese New Year decorations!)

What platform are you on?

I’m on PS4.

20 falling Robert Knoxes.

Then we’ll see if that carries over, because now that I think about it, I think I remember that this was pointed out, but it only worked for those on PS platforms, because I went and did it and it still didn’t work.

The egg hunt suit looks scary af :skull: also a shoe unlockable??? Wonder if it’s just really a simple shoe or if it has some sort of special property to it :skull:

Nope, just did it. Absolutely, 100% still voids SA when doing this.

Can confirm it is still broken. Tested on PS5.

Well shit, how come there’s plataform exclusive glitches like this? Why fix it on some platforms and not others? Unless whatever fixed it on ps4 was just accidental.

Perhaps it was server lag registering the non-target kill? I just repeated the scenario on the PS4 build of the game (on a PS5) and SA was also lost.

Except, as people have said above me, you need a PS5 and PSVR 2 to get the most out of the changes, and that is going to be a small number of players simply due to how niche VR is as an addon. So unless you fit into the middle of the the venn diagram of “I have PSVR2” and “I’m a Hitman fan”, Everything else added is content we’ve either seen before (ET reruns), was a foregone conclusion (Easter decor), or completely baffling to add (sapienza boot and Easter suit).

It’s not the worst patch we’ve ever had, but it definitely feels like a misfire when it had some odd priorities as to what players want. The challenges feeling like Easter eggs seems to be because the past few challenges were Easter egg-related. And as cute as these are, it’s not what the game needs right now. It needs more lasting changes and fixes that go beyond VR, and we didn’t get that.

I’m starting to disagree. Its probably one of the worst. As a PS5 player, the game now has a bunch of PS5-exclusive bugs due to the twisting of things for PSVR2. I played the game for only an hour a few hours ago and encountered quite a few things that are now broken (have only shoved a few of them in the Bug Report thread so far).

When I decided to check them all out on Steam - not a single one of the issues are present which is why I assume they’re all tied to changes made for PSVR2.

They’ve added something that is only a benefit to a niche group within the players of their niche game, while making the game worse overall for all players on the same platform. They now have to really focus on fixing all these oversights and errors over the next year (I assume) before they put it all into the game on PC and spread the bugs further - but given how much love the game has gotten as far as fixes goes for awhile, I’m not hopeful its going to happen.

So now PC players are faced with what is essentially a ticking clock counting down to when their game gets put into a worse state than it is currently. Hard to get excited about that. And this patch is what has started that clock.

That’s…yeah, okay, I can’t disagree with that.

From the issues I’ve seen since I posted my comment last night, I sense you’re right on the money. It’s not like IO have a good track record of fixing issues like this either in any sensible time-frame.

Hell, the PS5 saving bug still exists!

I don’t understand why IOI doesn’t release new ETs. You have a whole unused location - Mumbai. You can come up with something interesting.

They’re spending time fixing how the pants look on random NPCs and correcting the spelling in item descriptions. They don’t have time for inconsequential things like new content.

In al fairness, it doesn’t show in the notes, but a large number of NPCs wearing suits were affected by this single broken mesh.

The most visible being the one in Paris, because he’s next to the main entrance, and part of the scene.
But pretty much every NPCs using the H2016 NPC suit model model did, at a varying degree.
It affected a lot of bodyguards as an exemple.

It was a legitimately prominent issue.
I saw it at least one time per mission in my latest Freelancer campaign. Frequently front and center.
I’m happy it got addressed.

I was expecting the purple coin that I will get from the upcoming Twitch drop to have the Twitch icon engraved on it, but it looks plain on the surface.
It seems like it would be a bit of a disappointing item.

I would prefer they fix the issues with 47’s suit before the NPCs. The camera focus is entirely on him, so we have to see any issues at all times, unlike NPCs, who, if something in their look is screwed up, we can at least turn away from the hideousness.
