New Elusive Target: THE SPLITTER (December 12th, 2024 - January 12th, 2025)

Maybe they are engineered to follow the original Max and the researchers orders, thus perfect for them?

Haven’t played it yet so I don’t know the details, but: are they perfect clones? And if so, what defines a “perfect” clone? I mean, 47 is considered perfect by Ort-Meyer except for his free will. And I’m assuming that these aren’t recombinant DNA clones like 47 and crew, but just plain clones of only the original subject, Valiant himself? If so, perhaps they’re just perfect replicas capable of what he was capable of, with no engineered enhancements beyond what the original could do?

I know it was the clone spotting me cause literally everyone else in the area was dead. Plus the clone did the “oh no” line NPCs say when they see you throwing something straight at them.

I’ve already played the mission like 10 times so I don’t really want to try to recreate it again. And it seems to be a fairly rare glitch given how nobody else has had it happen.

I believe that’s the whole point. Perfect in terms of skill, but perfectly obedient and lacking critical/independent thinking. Just like the No. 48 clones back in the day. That or they are not yet fully developed. They all seem to be the first batch and as the dancing one shows, deficiencies may occur.

Its a bug. The killbox that is intended to only activate during the “shoot the golfball above the head” scenario is activating every time they shoot their gun.

Basically, a QA failure.

I haven’t attempted the regular ET yet due to bugs but is anyone else facing issues with the Arcade?

I’m constantly getting spotted through walls and on numerous occasions guards have gone into combat mode for no reason.

Anyone else?

Incredibly frustrating

Bathrooms? Chongqing has always had issues where a drowned body left at the toilet will randomly be seen eventually from someone that shouldn’t.

Surely this has already been mentioned but a guard took a body into the sauna… Doorway  and I couldn’t kill the other guy in there by holding the door shut… Well, I didn’t actually try, I just assumed it wouldn’t work since the door would have to close in the first place.

This was in the ET Arcade.

And huge goof on my part. I was using my camera to take pictures at all the scenes you come across along the way. I’m in a lab coat, dismiss the other scientist… I open my inventory to get my camera, but it went so fast it jumped to the gun… I get compromised and end up having to KO and hide 2 non-targets. :man_facepalming:

When I do the ET live, I’ll be certain to place any guns I have somewhere else first just out of principle.

If you kill all the clones that are normally present for the window reveal before they’re revealed, Valliant gets pissy and him, his guards and Pritchard go straight into his office. Valliant assumes ICA has interfered with his plan as he has no clones to show off on his tour, has his guards kill Pritchard and then orders his guards to kill Prichard’s guard (aka 47). Everyone then becomes an enforcer.

However, IO didn’t think things through and you can take Pritchard’s disguise and no one is an enforcer to you anymore even though they really should be, given they should be surprised to see “Pritchard” walking around again.

That happened with me and it was so frustrating. I was taking things slow, exploring the mission to see all the dialogue and interactions. Since it was my first time and I stayed completely blind, avoiding all spoilers, I had no knowledge of any of the NPC routines. I was doing well, with only four clones left to eliminate. I ended up talking to the guard, getting put into the gas tank, and dying instantly from the explosion. It was extremely unfair.

Oh that’s clever, now I really want to try this. Which clones do I need to kill to trigger this? Bicycle + shooting range + one more?

All the clones on level 2 that are showed off during the tour.

So the one in the Dojo and the one doing the splits between the walls.

Awesome, thanks. My next run I’ll disguise as Pritchard before going in. Overall very pleased with the quality of this ET.

Can’t figure out a clean way to clear out the vat room with the 6 clones. If you do the dancing guy first an additional researcher comes in.

Don’t think the splits one is required as he doesn’t move, just the dojo one.
Also works if you eliminate them during the demonstration.

You might not want to as Valiant and Hei are enforcers to that disguise.

Can always just emetic anyone in that room to get rid of them for a while. Btw you can also activate the vats with an EMP.

Maybe. I just assumed he was because he’s showcased on the tour.

You might be right. It’s possible I killed him before the others, I can’t remember.

They define it in the game. See screenshots below.

Given they inherit his consciousness, they also inherit his “self-consciousness”, described in his bio as brimming with confidence. Why would they take orders?

Not only that, the latter quotes show that they are even an improvement over the original, as they start learning with a headstart and get additional training in for example weapon precision.

They mention that the clones can evolve and improve, they start as a young Max in his prime but have room to become even better than him.

Well, that at least tells us one of two things: this mission either is a non-canon, what-if, alternate universe story, or those scientists are just outright lying to make the clones sound more impressive to potential clients, because that’s a bunch of crap.

Not only is a “perfect replica” impossible through cloning (they wouldn’t inherit his scars or fingerprints, for example), but inheriting his consciousness and memories isn’t a thing that could happen. It’s not something that just happens automatically with cloning, otherwise 47 would also have that, but there’s no indication that Ort-Meyer ever figured out how to do that or was even trying to do it. So that’s outright lies or nonsense. If they’re talking that they somehow found a way to copy Valiant’s memories and implant them into the clones, that’s a whole other thing, and their choice of words there don’t indicate that that’s what they’ve done.

That’s not anything to do with their being clones either, nor an inherent improvement over the original built into them as part of their creation, as it is with 47. That’s just getting them started early on something the original probably didn’t think about doing until he was in his teens. That would be no different than Michael Jordan training one of his kids who inherited his exact same physical capabilities to play basketball starting from age 2 - of course they’d improve over him by starting sooner in life, but it wouldn’t mean that they were born physically better.

IOI didn’t put a lot of thought into the lore behind this one. Blood Money and Absolution would have caught these details.
