Fast question.
Do You think people can post their ideas regarding future map variations in here (even if they don’t end up getting used) or do You prefer to not see comments like that?
Add a Rusty Crowbar to the starting location.
Was bound to happen eventually, surprised it took so long frankly
Thanks, will try keep in mind but probably not at the top of my list these days
Doesn’t the female scientist and her bodyguard eventually pass through and provide a brief window of opportunity to slip out?
They don’t exist in 5/6 of the variations I’m pretty sure lel
And would be lame to make players wait that long even if she did
Of course in that case you’d have to fire a gun to get a guard to open the door and hope the target or their lookout isn’t close enough to hear the shots.
Pondering making a variation of Marrakesh - Gilded Cage which is: Story targets dead, protest gone, all ETs in and ToD change
But the question is what ToD should it be?
- Night (ripped from AHBOS/ToD Mod)
- Custom sunset-ish (Actual sunset would be blocked by walls and buildings)
- Custom Midday
- Other (Please specify in comments)

While the Sunset-ish is nice because it’s different - the consulate does look nice inside at night.
Maybe the lights could still be on in the twilight hours.
Like Colorado’s ToD?
Isn’t Colorado meant to be early morning?
Nope, dusk
Ah, I think I took the time at the start of the briefing to be the mission time.
Hmm, the filename says Dusk, but it’s possible it’s the filename that’s wrong, as the filename for Landslide lighting says “morning” or something like that
You might be onto something, I just always thought it was set at sunset/just after (depending whether you have original 2016 lighting or not)
I actually went through and checked them all after you said it was dusk lol. The time matches up well for each of them (assuming Colorado actually is morning), but Situs Inversus shows 800 hours which would mean it also takes place in the morning, when I always assumed it was in the evening.
Maybe not actually, because Bangkok says 900 hours, and according to the mini map the sun is (setting) in the west.
I’m now going crazy checking each, and if we take the position of the sun to be accurate, then Colorado is morning (matches briefing time) and Hokkaido is evening (does not match briefing time).
One could go by the map and the North indicator, then, taking where the location would be on a map/globe you should be able to tell/know what hemisphere the location is in. Look to see the position of the sun in the sky and you should have the time of day (maybe even the season).
You shouldn’t bother doing this in Whittleton Creek, btw. Other maps I haven’t scrutinized that closely.
That’s exactly what I just did and the results for the last 3 maps of season 1 are in the last part of my comment above.
I also checked the first 3 and they are accurate both to the time you would expect based on the sky/lighting and the time shown in the briefing.
Sounds like justification for an Accurate Sky/ToD mod.
There are some lighting issues with dark/indoor areas but this is what it looks like atm (2016 Colorado lighting. Haven’t removed protest yet, just doing lighting first)
@Kevin_Rudd Is there a graphical setting on my end that’s causing this weird visual haze and silhouettes around objects in midday Mendoza? I’ve been experiencing this since I started using freelancer variations over a month ago.
