The inventory images are the same
However, the inventory icons are different
They were awarded for the initial ET run in Hitman (2016). The reruns after the GOTY release did not count. Your performance determined which coin you won.
I believe it was:
Commendable - Played an ET
Superior - Completed an ET
Outstanding - Completed an ET with SA rating
A couple of notes:
Trinity pack was also available for pre-order on PlayStation and Xbox in 2021, not limited to Epic. I would also assume Stadia and Switch, but unable to comment.
The Green Streak Suit is also available for the Windows Store/GamePass for PC version as this version also uses the Xbox servers (Xbox gamer tag required).
Oh yes, I know, I have one of those coins, but only one. And I always wondered what the difference was, since the picture looks the same for all three. But thank you!
Soooo… the side thats identical is the one they put in the inventory, the one that is based on the performance is hidden and only visible ingame… Do I need to understand why they did that, or are you as confused as I am?
Sorry about that Jason, slight brain fart after waking up while reading forums, should have realized you had the coin.
Oh shoot, yeah you’re right. I only have PC platform in my head when I wrote the guide. I’ll fix it right away.
I have no idea I’m as confused as you are
IOI, together with Dovetail Games and Cloud Imperium Games are one of the devs I just want to observe in the decision making process to see how all of this happens to be, because IOI puzzles me alot of the times when it comes to things they invest resources like money and time into.
All fine!
Two thoughts:
First, I’m fine with items being limited time items and not being obtainable if you missed out. I never played HItman 1 so I cannot get those coins. As much as I’d love to have one or more of them, I totally get that they were limited time event unlocks. I don’t know why people expect things that are limited time offerings to be made available if they missed them.
Secondly, if the three coins were awarded for playing an ET, completing an ET and then SA’ing an ET, if you played an ET and failed it, presumable you got the Commendable coin. If you then completed a subsequent ET and earned the Superior coin, did that replace the Commendable? If you then (on the third released ET) got SA on it, did the Outstanding Coin replace the Superior one? Was there any way to earn all three?
Well yes, but actually no.
The design of the coins are all the same. But, very subtley, the coins each have a different level of wear and tear.
Just compare the lowest tier coin with the highest tier coin. One is a lot more scuffed up and the gold lining is showing than the other one. The middle tier – the commendable performance coin – also has a little bit of wear and tear. You can see it on the edges near the words on the bottom and symbols on the top.
The Outstanding coin however looks perfect – painted black where it should, clearly legible, etc.
These coins were released with the GOTY update in 2017. You got one of the three depending on which requirement you completed up to that point, and that was it.
Simple… Not all of us connected 24/7 to our consoles and some events occur while you away for more than a week or two…
Anyway this is my opinion you can disagree or not understand… but personally I would just like to obtain and try on my own anything the game developers at IOI added to the game along the years.
I understand why you’d/anyone would want those things, but I don’t understand why anyone would expect them.
As I mentioned, I didn’t play the first game. I didn’t even know it existed until well into Hitman 2’s lifecycle. I could take the position that IOI or SquareEnix’s crappy marketing cost me a collectible coin. I could also take the position that having to go on vacation that one time cost me the white yukata or whatever. I get why a player would be disappointed in missing something like that.
I don’t, though, expect IOI to make them available because my schedule made me miss it.
I haven’t yet seen anyone in the recent posts in this thread say that they “expect” IOI to create a way to include those unlocks for players that missed them, but that they wish that they would, a sentiment you claim you’re okay with. So why make a post about the “expect” point at all?
I think you are way too sensitive to people saying what they’d like to happen in the game even when they do it politely. We’ve had confirmation from Travis that IOI do want player feedback (obviously, only when delivered constructively and in good faith) and that that feedback can influence where IOI direct their future efforts, though obviously IOI will rightfully have the final say on what they act on/disregard.
Like you were feeling weary of negative posts in the forum, I’m feeling similarly weary of you throwing cold water on every post anyone makes saying what they’d like the future of the game to be.
Only because IOI can and it is possible so why not? if some ET “restarted” why such unlock events can’t be repeated in any sort of way? if not the event itself - than the item unlock itself can obtained in diff tasks (e.g. HITMAN3/2/1 each one of the games had sometime diff way to achieve the same thing from the past) - so as long as it possible to make unlocks from past events I VOTE YES!!! otherwise you never be able to use the coin you liked and me never see the Lil Flashy. Lastly, I’m ain’t asking something that never developed yet… these items already exists - give us access to it by doing some task. any task! thanks for reading. @scat1620 I can’t agree with you more!
But for the undying for example, that was a huge thing back than. I mean, they casted a very famous actor for it and made a nice commercial with him. So I can understand why they don’t want to make him come back again, because it would kinda loose it’s “magic”.
Sure, it’s bad for people who have missed it back than but well, that’s not only happening with Hitman
Lets not give them to much hate for having their “time limited, exclusive content” actually time limited and exclusive.
And also because they likely have to pay and sign a new contract just so they can use his ET in the game again, which isn’t worth it, same with Busey… I don’t think IO will give another chance at unlocking the Undying’s items, especially not through ET Arcade as this has its own batch of weapons to unlock
You some sort missing the point of what I wrote.
All I wish (and I’m sure many others too) is to have the missing obtainable items (i.e. suits, gears, etc) that developed and exists within this game series/tribology [refer to ‘career’ menu as an item] to be accessible to unlock with another new way or old way - the task to obtain does not matter - any task will do!
To clarify even further - new ET - new ETA - new Featured Contracts - new Escalation - new SideMission - whatever you want to call it new task to do in order to obtain the missing item… that’s it. simple. possible. exclusive can always be re-exclusive why not? and I’m sure @Travis_IOI and the team can make this happen someday before jumping to their next ‘Project 007’. btw I would prefer any HITMAN game as new project instead (even “remake” of old games to new console generations) but they already choose their company path I guess.
For me personally, my main gripe with this “timed exclusivity” nonsense is: apart from the DRM aspect, Hitman 3 is still first and foremost a single player game. I’m perfectly fine with things going away after X amount of days, weeks or however long if it’s an online multiplayer title (like an MMO or something) where the content is evolving, and where stuff becoming unavailable actually makes sense.
I bought this title at full price, I’m the only person who plays it (on my machine), so why would the developers ever think it’s a great idea to artificially block me from getting 100% completion?
The only valid reason for timed exclusivity of ingame content would be to retain a certain level of rarity among players; however, since there only is one player to begin with, which happens to be ME, I’m not competing with anyone at all. It’s just a stupid way of pressuring people into having to keep playing (and thus boosting global playtime statistics, I guess).
On Friday February 4th I finally got it. The supreme reward of Featured Contracts: the Professional Screwdriver.
Frankly, for days I felt like I was being screwed BADLY. Many contracts were fine and actually fun but others with insta fail conditions were pure hell. Fuck it. It’s done. I’m gonna start bringing it everywhere out of pure spite and actual coolness because screwdrivers really are neat melee weapons and tools.
Also noticed targets killed with this one don’t leave a pool of blood if you perform a silent elimination (tested on Andrea Martínez a couple of times).
