Hitman World of Assassination - 3.190 - June 2024 Patch Notes

I truly hope IOI fix this and don’t leave the game in a broken state before they abandon it eventually.

There is a challenge in Hitman 2 on Mumbai (“Feeding the bird”), which used to work, but got broken at same point. When I contacted IOI 2.5 years after the release of H2, the only response I received was them saying, that H2 is not supported anymore and that they’re not going to do anything about it.

Let’s hope the Paris cutscene doesn’t meet the same fate.

It would be criminal for them not to fix it, and whether they do or not 100% WILL be a deciding factor in whether I buy Project 007 or other future IOI titles.

All of this just makes me even more worried about the 007 game because if they continue this pattern of miscommunication and errors of judgement then any potential fans that they want to make from the Bond universe will become alienated and put off. I think I speak for a lot of us that we’ve kept our wits and patience for as long we can handle because we’re such big fans of the HITMAN genre, and that is what has kept us going more often in these troublesome times more than us having faith on IOI to deliver well.

Yeah, personally I am worried about IOI going down the “enshittification” route:

  1. Randomly breaking things in the WoA, which at its core is excellent, but whose sheen is repeatedly chipped away at when unforced errors are made with updates that break things that used to work perfectly, and which are seemingly completely unrelated to the things that the update is intended to fix or improve.

  2. The departure of several key team members who were at the heart of some of the most beloved parts of the WoA - even allowing for the harsh financial reality of Squexit and the unavoidable downsizing that resulted from that, in the new independent era IOI have lost some devs like Mattias Engstrom and Mette Pødenphant who personally led development on some of the WoA’s most memorable moments.

  1. This one’s harder to quantify and more just vibez-based, but I just get the feeling that as IOI are expanding both in terms of studio locations and headcount, they’re becoming more ‘corporate’, and not in a good way. For the last few years, the IOI social media channels have felt much, MUCH more like a Linkedin advert to attract potential employee recruits than they have been a tool to excite the fanbase and engage in meaningful dialogue with them. The culture that they present just seems much more slick and ‘business-y’ these days, and I have much less of a feeling that they’re looking to connect with their fans…
  1. …which ties in with my final observation that (like seemingly everyone else) I reckon their comms with fans has been going down the toilet for quite a while at this point, and sadly the new arrivals in this area don’t seem to be reversing this trend as things stand.

And I might add here my (unsubstantiated) suspicion that #2 might possibly be a result of #3 and they didn’t like where it was going and decided to bug out. Nothing at all to base that on, just mere suspicion.

In addition to @Guillermo_Murillo Playstation, and @scat1620 PC, i can confirm that the Paris briefing also got broke on Xbox with this patch.

Popped in a Zendesk ticket for mine on Steam, would encourage you guys to do the same on your different platforms if you could, please, so that they know they have a multi-platform issue to deal with. Thanks!

Oh, the “secrets of the global elite” cutscene is gone as well. It won’t play after finishing the mission or by selecting it on the campaign tab, so that’s both of Paris cutscenes gone.

Ok, I’m not even home to see that, and I’m getting fucking pissed by these issues.

I just don’t get how an issue like this even came about. Like they were barely even adding anything this patch, and none of the few bug fixes or upcoming challenges/ETs are even related to Paris. And if they accidentally deleted the Paris briefing somehow, why did they replace it with the full text of the video instead of just putting the video back in?

According to the mod that fixes this, they somehow deleted the “Paris video database entity”.

The text version of the briefing has always been there, it has just been hidden when the video database contains what it needs to.

@AnthonyFuller unsurprisingly more competent than the remaining skeleton crew left working on the WoA in 2024.

Let’s hope us console users will get an official fix ASAP, even though the problem is basically solved on PC now.

This annoys me even more than the Bangkok penthouse kitchen cupboards that have been turned into swimming pools in Hitman 2 and will probably never be fixed.

I contend that as a matter of grammatic elegance, it ought to be “shitification” or “enshittening,” but I do agree with you.

I wouldn´t call it basically solved on PC - it´s a temporary remedy for people who absolutely want it, but there should´ve been an official platfom-wide hotfix for this like, yesterday. More importantly, a blunder like this should´ve never happened in the first place.

Huh? What happened there?

Of course, I meant it in a ‘now there’s less pressure to fix it because a large part of their user base won’t complain about it anymore’ way. Just like with other issues that don’t affect all platforms (like the eternal saving icon on PS or the unpickupable fuse in our Freelancer garage)

Well…

To clarify: that problem was introduced in Hitman 2 on all versions of this map and still persists in Hitman 3. The cupboards are perfectly normal in Hitman 2016.

Ah, ok, gotcha. I hope that won´t be the case though. In fact, people should complain even more if modders fix stuff in a live game quicker than the devs

Dang… I probably spent so little time in H1´s Bangkok (started playing that in spring 2018 so not that long before H2 came out) that I never noticed there was something different. Is it just the water or something else got changed?

Just the water (and the pool/underwater lights, obviously). It’s definitely not intentional. The cupboards still have doors, they’re clearly meant to be cupboards and not whatever the hell happened there. :joy:

It really annoys me to no end.

Actually, now I remember that the water did catch my attention once, but I didn´t even realise that those things were meant to be cupboards. Instead, I thought they´re some kind of fancy big dish-washing sink :joy: Yeah, they should fix this… (alongside the myriad of other stuff)
