Never been overly pressed about game preservation, but with the prospect of potentially losing out on them forever, even though I’m probably never gonna touch them again I instinctively upgraded H1 I got for PS Plus to the GOTY Edition, got the Requiem Pack for H1, and rebought H2 even though I had it on disc.
Luckily everything’s on sale so no skin off my back, but at this point, sense we’re essentially getting them for free anyway, just give us the legacy games on top of getting them for H3, it’s not like you’ll be making money off of it anymore. Overall though, this is an amazing way of handling it.
(Also, can we please switch between the Main Menu UI and themes from the previous games, considering this will be the “only” version of the game. H3’s isn’t bad, but it’s my least favorite, and I much prefered H2’s bright white UI and Menu art, as well as it’s theme music infinitely more.)
I wonder how many people were buying the Access Passes for H3 prior to this announcement… If the numbers were extremely low and it was mostly just free redemptions, this is a brilliant way for IO to actually increase the cost of the game as it heads into it’s third year without cannibalising the Access Pass sales they otherwise would’ve got.
Yeah, there are some niche changes that consolidating the story together could finally allow.
Being able to go from Training to Train without having to go back to the main menu once would be great. I might actually try and do that then, and see how fast I could manage. IOI like leaderboards so much, maybe make one for this?
This is the most adept “we’re doing it for the players” corporate move I’ve seen in my small world of gaming for a while.
I’m still down for it, as the pros are consequential: a better overall gaming experience (though some will argue), and more gamers playing Hitman. But we can agree that this is principally a savvy business decision, and we can reminisce about our childhoods when games were just games and we knew nothing of companies’ ongoing business decisions.
I would guess and hope that this will be reverted back to the Hitman 2 style. Because Final Test used to have a link to Showstopper that was removed due to ownership issues but now everyone will have Showstopper
I think putting ambrose there in the story and destinations tab would be weird as its labeled and seperated by game. What i’d instead propose is after Whittleton having two tiles: one for Sgail and one for Ambrose. Then after Sgail two tiles again: one for New York and one for Dubai. Final Test could have a similar tile that gives you the option of Showstopper, Nightcall or Dubai, but a sort of semi-branching option would he nice
I wouldn’t want it moved in the destinations tab, campaign tab (because of this new change) maybe.
The reason I wouldn’t want it moved in destinations, is because then it would be “splitting” the seasons properly. You could argue the same is done with the campaigns, which is true. I just think it wouldn’t be proper.
I hope with this change they move the ICA Facility back into the HITMAN 1 section of the career/stats tab.
It’s weirded me out so much to see it keep getting placed in the Hitman 3 sections of the menu, just because it comes with the base game by default.
They better give us the options to play as H2016 or H2’s 47. I don’t expect IO fully replace every face, but I’ll sit with them releasing new suits with their identical looks. Just like they did with…well, a certain unreleased suit.
To be honest IOI are also currently working on other projects, so Freelancer is a good way for IOI to give us something big for Hitman and 47 before they close the game off to focus solely on James Bond.
That said, if they do announce Year 3 content then that would be fantastic!
idk, but I actually don’t expect new contents. It would be good if there are, if not then it’s nothing.
I just hope IOI could continue fixing glitches and improving the interactive interface.
Welp heres what I want to be added to make this the complete package.
EPhone. They made the Molotov non accidental, they can do it to the EPhone too.
Escalations. I know most people don’t like them, but there’s a few I really like in 2016 getting left behind!
Sarajevo Six. (It’s not going to happen but I can dream.)
I’m fine with the exclusive challenges being lost though. You can still technically do them, just without the challenge indicator.
So many player made contracts lost!
HITMAN 3 will become ‘HITMAN World of Assassination’, which will also include access to HITMAN 1 and HITMAN 2 through our existing Access Pass system. Current HITMAN 3 owners will get a free upgrade to HITMAN World of Assassination on all platforms
I find it good to finally include the whole game under one roof, as first intended for the last entry of HITMAN game. You don’t need to have several games and you can play the first maps (e.g. Paris) with the last improvements and items from H3.
Moreover, it will ease the comprehension of the different versions available for future players. Two sets (H3 WoA and H3 DLC) and that’s it.
An important detail that we want to be clear about amongst these changes, is that we’re removing the standalone HITMAN 1 and HITMAN 2 products from sale on all platforms.
However, the removal of H1/H2 from sales are quite annoying, for the sake of preservation. H1 was quite polished and offers another way to play the first maps (lighting, items, SA rules, Pro mode).
However, I acknowledge that you can play a mission in H3 with H1 rules (avoid detection by target and avoid non-H1 items).
I don’t enjoy as much Pro mode than “normal mode” but I do appreciate the introduction of suspicious items in this mode (the fact that you can’t openly carry a silenced gun as a guard was a good mechanic on hard mode IMO).
The previous comment (@LoyalMcTinFoil) made a good summary of my wishes for H3 Y3 content: introduction of legacy H1 escalations (I enjoyed most of them) and the rework of E-phone as non-accidental kill.
