If you know something let me know please, I’m so sad.
Platform: PC, digital
Description : Unable to play online. Receiving following message: “Connection failed. Unable to connect to the HITMAN service. Failed to fetch configuration from the HITMAN server.”
Steps to reproduce: Around 0300 UTC while playing game, received warning that game was unable to connect to server. Have been unable to reconnect since that time.
Have tried two different internet connections. Have flushed DNS and reset connection settings on PC. Verified game installation through Epic launcher.
Have already imported progress from Hitman 1 & 2. No issues for first 12 hours of gameplay, could connect without issue.
Frequency : Continuous for past 12 hours. Unable to play (offline not an option since achievements not saved).
How we can do? Why @Clemens_IOI or @Travis_IOI not say nothing about this? I wrote to them without an answer , I pass to be so happy and know so sad, even loosing some important stuff in carryover process and now even can not play or play again like new? In Paris? Not normal 90€ and can not play☹️ I play hitman for 20 years I think I deserve an answer from them
Just finished dartmoor and as I go to the mission results screen it boots me because the connection to the server drops. I was having fun damnit!
I just checked through their replies on Twitter and it seems quite a lot of people are having the same problem with the connection failed error. Hope this gets resolved soon.
@PC players
I deleted these files:
EDIT: first two seem to not be related to this fix
(installation Folder of H3)\HITMAN3\Retail\HITMAN3.exe
(Installation Folder of H3)\HITMAN3\Launcher.exe
Files in the folders in C:\Users\(Username)\AppData\Roaming\IO Interactive
An let EGS download them again. Note that the third thing will delete local saves and any game settings.
The files get generated on startup again and might have been corrupted.
After this I could connect with my account again. This will not damage progress.
I assume one has to delete less but I went for all three and had success. If someone tries that, please delete file by file and tell us what exactly fixes it.
My assumption the faulty file is the one in this folder:
C:\Users\(Username)\AppData\Roaming\IO Interactive\HITMAN3\TemporaryStorage
Can someone confirm?
The latest update was yesterday that they are working on a solution. They are aware of the ongoing issues at the very least.
**Platform:**Xbox One
**Description:**For the Past 24 Hours, whenever I get on the Menu I get a Connection Failed Message.I tried going Offline then Going online in the Featured Menu, but now I’m getting “Disconnected” Popping up.Please Help I want to play the Game
Steps to Reproduce:
Open up the Game
Frequency: ALWAYS FOR THE PAST 24 HOURS
I deleted only this and it seems to fix the problem but only for an hour or two.
Unfortunately, that isn’t doing it for me. It did, however, change the error from “failed to fetch profile information” to “failed to fetch configuration from the HITMAN server,” so I think it did… something? Can you think of a place where “configuration” files might be? I think you’re on to something.
I tried to do this, but it hasn’t seem to have had an effect on anything on my end.
Deleted all those files, downloaded again and it didn’t work for me
I’m doing now thinking maybe work
Don’t know if this helps the issue, but watching the progress popup closely whenever it errors out, it’s clearly connecting to the servers, reaching the point where it’s at “Authenticating,” and then erroring out with a disconnect. So it’s almost certainly not a connection problem in the sense that the server can’t maintain a connection – it’s receiving a connection, and then something about the communication between client and server is causing the Hitman servers to reject the connection.
“Failed to fetch profile information” may be the result of a dissociation between the local profile save and whatever is on IO’s end, and it auto-disconnects when it detects that. But I have no idea what “failed to fetch configuration” could mean. I don’t see any reason to store gameplay configurations (like graphics and control settings) on cloud, or to error out if they somehow don’t match up (particularly since you can change graphical configurations from the launcher anyway, so offline-to-online updates of those should be fine). I think “configuration” must mean something else.
But Urben’s suggestion did get rid of “failed to fetch profile information,” so I do think he’s correct that it is in some way related to a failure to properly authenticate local and server-stored configuration and profile data in some capacity. And it’s not just that the files are different, because if you delete all your local files it still has a problem despite nothing to compare it to.
So for the moment can’t do nothing, have to wait if IO say something right?
You can try Urben’s fix, but it is unlikely to work unless your sole issue is profile fetch problems. You will fix one error, but just end up with another. I’m trying a full delete and reinstall and if that doesn’t fix it then there’s nothing we can do on our end. If it’s a mistake in server authentication only those with access to the server (IOI) can fix it and that’s just all there is to it.
Thank you , at least some of you answer
Can confirm that by only deleting C:\Users\(Username)\AppData\Roaming\IO Interactive
allowed me to connect. As stated by Urben, this does delete your in game saves and settings, but does NOT delete your achievements or progress.
Update to Urben’s point: I have been able to fix the problem.
I uninstalled the game, deleted everything Urben pointed out (I deleted the IOInteractive folder entirely in fact from AppData/Roaming), and reinstalled. It logged me in just fine.
Give that a try, if your bandwidth can stand it.
EDIT: Note this may not work for console players because the console may retain the equivalent of the AppData folder configs on the hard drive without giving the player the ability to delete them. If either console has a file browser or data config or something, maybe uninstall H3 and then check and see if any data from it remains and delete that before trying a reinstall. Merely reinstalling or redownloading the files didn’t work for me until I had everything gone pre-reinstall.
Alright, after deleting the files in IO Interactive folder in AppData and using Local Saves to upload to the Cloud on Epic, the problem seems to have been resolved for me.
