HITMAN 3: Seven Deadly Sins (NEW DLC)

Wrath should prove interesting as it’s 47s most personal sin.

This rationale makes no sense whatsoever because every “season” is the same price . Why would major new content be the same price as a deluxe escalation ?

Buy Disco Elysium – ZA/UM was started in a drunken stupor, by Robert Kurvitz and his friends. Robert Kurvit was a former rock band member of Ultramelanhool, was a destitute novelist, struggling with alcoholism. ZA/UM is a reference to Zaum, “Russian avant-garde poets”. Their game is closer to reality than most video games out there.

I knew you’d jump in this thread saying that. (I too am vibing with that feeling).

After mulling over this for an hour and a half, I’ve calmed down my hype and dissapointment enough to have a clear mind about the matter.

  • Is this an interesting DLC drop? Yes. I like escalations, having some more that have even more work put into them is neat.
  • Am I dissapointed that we’re probably not getting any kind of Bonus Missions instead? Oh yeah. I don’t forsee any other premium DLC after this thing has been rolled out in October. Crossing my fingers I’m wrong.
  • Does the price justify the content? In my opinion, no? We’ll see. The Deluxe Edition came with 6 escalations, all soundtracks and a tiny “art book”. A bit overpriced, since the art book did not live up to the hype. This is gonna be 7 escalations for a slightly higher price. The content might be fun, but paying that amount for it is not. RIP $CAD conversion. I’ll wait till it’s 25$ or under.

Deluxe Owners just got their content completed, and now there’s new pricey DLC to buy already. Kinda greedy. Considering there doesn’t seem to be as big a disappointment as the PC Hitman 2 transfer, I don’t see this changing.

I’ll try and hold out for a sale. But whether we’re getting a sale until all packs are out is debatable. It would undercut those who pre-ordered the bundle at launch, and no one wants that.

It’s probably a bit of a cope but we’re sort of assuming these will all be escalations right? Like I’m sure most of them will be but they do say “content packs” in the marketing.

Like Season of Greed could be an escalation. But then Season of Pride could be a bonus mission. Season of Gluttony could be a special assignment. Season of Lust could be then be another bonus mission. Something like that, the marketing is deliberately vague because they probably want to see if people will bite first and adjust their man hours accordingly.

Then again if different seasons would be different types of content why both lesser and bigger content would cost 4,99 each

I agree that paradox or EA would doubtless have done microtransactions for each DE. They may also have released a software season pass for all in game content which I’d far rather stump for. Really, how many of the deluxe edition purchasers would have actively purchased the soundtracks for $8-10 dollars each? And they are the only worthwhile non-game content. This comfortably falls under the classification of “welcome extra freebie” like the Hitman ecomic you get for setting up an IOI account. For the same reason in the good old days of buying physical special editions vs deluxe editions I would get the cheapest one with ALL the ingame content/dlc and extras, not the one with a bunch of polystone “collectables” and other crap for another $20-30.

Yeah it would work perhaps better if each Season played on someone other than 47 (tho we’ll have to wait for the DLC to come out before judging it). Greed plays well into things like Providence and the ICA, less so into 47 as a character himself, who seems indifferent to money in general

The Seven Deadly Sins do ring very Christian to me. So it’s interesting to see the series move back that way (it’s had an interesting relationship with faith for a while)

My initial hype has died down a bit and now… I’m still hype  obviously the actual content will matter, but I have faith in IO to delivery

I agree. The money issue might be turning me off, but that suit is… :ok_hand: :relieved:

Hopefully those who don’t buy into this DLC still get some cool/useful unlocks in free updates.

…I wonder if we’ll see more Seasonal Content this time around? Seems weird to me how they did it for Hokkaido in H2, offered a free Hokkaido trial, then never did anything similar again. Jump forward to this game, and, inexplicably, we’re getting new seasonal content. Except this time there’s no free Berlin trial. Strange.

Only the Hardcore fanbase, when you attribute the casual part of the fanbase they want tangible content that they can play with rather than incentives and bonuses like the Commentary or Art-book.

These pricing’s are done without really attributing the majorities personal preference it’s why I value 7DS content around $20-$25.

Escalations don’t have longevity to them, it’s a one and done sort of thing. Though they are adding gimmicks through gameplay additions it doesn’t compare to Bonus Levels since things like Landslide are praised years after its initial release.

So unless someone enjoys replaying Escalations the only take away from this currently is items and suits.

Definitely a pass for me. I’d pay for a Patient Zero style campaign which reuses the maps with new twists to them, but not for more escalations, that wasn’t enough to tempt me to get the Deluxe edition. Won’t be enough to get me buying anything else.

Really dissapointed by this, especially with the price. Definitely wont be buying this one soon. I hope this doesnt mean we wont be getting new dlc missions like Landslide and The icon.

New ETs is good news though

You certainly don’t need to feel bad. Hitman 3 recovered the cost of development almost immediately. They are making plenty of profit now and are in much better financial shape than they were a few years ago.

Additionally, I would argue that this latest DLC offering seems underwhelming. At first glance, it looks like the sort of content that would have been included for free in H1 & H2 (perhaps minus the cosmetics).

I would be very happy to pay around £10 for a new DLC standalone map like The Bank in about a year’s time once the period of free live content for Hitman 3 has drawn to a close. The price for Seven Deadly Sins is too expensive for me, given that it will simply be repurposing existing H3 maps.

To add insult to injury, the release of this paid DLC less than three months after launch appears to be cutting into what should have been a season of free content for game owners. I am now assuming that paid DLC will replace any sort of H3 Bonus Missions - content that was previously included for free.

Instead, we are already being asked to reopen our wallets for what looks set to be inferior content.

Yup. Escalations that should have been included in the Deluxe Edition.

I don’t mind paying for extra maps. Escalations?

I’d rather IOI nuke ETs and spend time on new maps. At least one.

I’d rather they release special assignments again, aka permanent ETs

Well this is disappointing. And somehow I’m under the impression that IOI don’t want to make bonus missions anymore.

That seemed like a one-and-done deal. I doubt we’ll see those again.

I’m in the minority here but I think ETs are boring as shit. So overrated. A good contract > ET

When I saw the announcement and the trailer I thought to an entire new campaign, as Sarayevo Six and Patient Zero. A campaign with seven new missions on existing maps. And I was very happy. But then I red that maybe we’ll have only excalations and contracts and my happyness became disappointment. I really hope not. Escalations and contracts are only things to play to have unlock, but they are absolutely unreplayable. I’d like bonus missions, special assignment, new campaign, seasonal missions. I hope we’ll have something like this

My point is that, by and large, there is a segment of the player base that will immediately, on any news concerning the game, go right to the Nth level of negativity about it.

IOI announces that they will have a DLC and the reaction is that they are just money-grubbing thieves turning out crap content for way too much money. If you don’t think that the content is worth the cost, feel free to not purchase it. We have no idea what will be in the various season packs aside from the first one. Maybe it is just 7 escalations. Maybe it’s an exclusive ET. Maybe it’s a pointless suit. We do not know. We assume based on price and one sentence that it’s 7 escalations but we do not know that.

I would not expect any game company to release a game and then a year’s worth of extra content for that game afterwards completely for free. I would expect to have to pay for at least a part of it. I am completely satisfied so far with the content that I’ve paid for and I hope that the majority of players are too. There could very well be bonus missions a la patient zero embedded in that pricing structure and I hope there is but I won’t feel like they lied to me or ripped me off if that isn’t the case.
