There’s only a couple thousand of us active on HMF. If H3 only sold to us then IO would be bankrupt and everyone who worked their would be looking elsewhere for work. It sold really well though so that means lots of causal players scooped it up. The casuals will decide if this strategy works or doesn’t work from a business perspective.
Then don’t buy this DLC right away. All here we’re fan of Hitman but if we stupidly buy everything they throw at us then IOI will do what they want knowing that the fanbase isn’t worried to buy dlc s after dlc s even if those are done with little to no efforts.
If we as consumers stop buying everything then the software houses will understand, otherwise they will continue this way. Consumers are in power here it’s just that many of us don’t really know this.
I agree. By “fanbase” I really just mean all Hitman players.
Totally agree with this if all are going to pay for half baked content with just visuals changes then this “content” will become the normal way for IOI to make things.
I do not like escalations much, but if the “challenge 47s crazy mind” thing is executed good, this could be fun. Guess I’ll see on steam complete edition.
Side note: I hate marketing. Why is it called premium expansion? It made sensor for deluxe escalations since we got normal ones in the game for free, but this is the only official expansion pack so far.
Money’s never enough

With the caveat:
I guess the new cane unlock will be a fun addition for VR at least.
The ability to create cool games and DLC is an art. But many successful companies want to develop along the path of Ubisoft and EA. And that’s good from a business point of view, yes. But this is no longer art, but a real conveyor belt. All for the sake of profit and attracting the player to paid purchases. First, an in-game store is created, and only then the game. I’m exaggerating too much, but I think you understand what I mean.
Io interective is still far from that, but after the release of Hitman 3, there are too many controversial decisions. Again, I hope this is all in order to sponsor a full-fledged bonus campaign.
Yes, I agree with you. We have already achieved a free transfer of legacy levels. But it seems to me that most of the players will go and buy this DLC. But for now, I’m not going to do this out of principle.
But if suddenly, as part of the extension there will be content limited in time, then I will instantly throw money into the screen. This marketing manipulation works great. And I am a living example of this.
Wish more high profile players speak up against this.
I noticed players who got the game for free from IOI are hesitant to criticize.
If they got that DLC for free as well, nothing to criticize
I say “forced” because you are quite literally forced to purchase a additional DLC to access this DLC that you already paid for if any of this content is on the legacy maps.
That’s because the costs were minimal with so much copy paste going on. You can tell the budget died after Hitman 1, 2 was a rushjob and with 3 they probably lost half their development team from going independent, it’s no surprise they started hiring after recovering some of their funds through various means. (some of which have had poor feedback, like not being on Steam so they could get exclusivity money.)
They are adapting to the market, greed or not, it’ll sell and that’s how the market works now.
That’s why they got canned by Square Enix, despite being a great developer, it’s why Hideo Kojima got canned from Metal Gear Solid.
The current market has very little incentive to produce high cost low return product when they can create low cost high return instead.
Maybe after they recover to their prime and gain new talents things will work out and they start putting more work into original content but it’s a slippery slope.
Huh, where did we pay for that?
People will, as they are starting to sell the DLC bundle at the end of this month with zero information on wether a legacy pack will be required or not. That’s pretty ridiculous in my opinion if any of the paid content is indeed in the legacy maps (which don’t think any of the content will be because it would be absolutely ridiculous )
Oh you mean they have to buy some access pack if the 7 Sins thing requires access. Yes that’d be a dark move. One you probably easily could sue IO for so I assume they don’t pull this.
I assume they won’t , which is why I also assume that the talk in the interview about remixed legacy locations weren’t talking about Seasons of Sin content
Now we got a lot of free content in the form of Escalations, Elusive Target and stuff like Holiday Hoarders and the upcoming Easter mission. They didn’t need to do any of this, especially with Hitman 2, but they did.
They also didn’t add loot boxes or added an item shop where you could buy suits and weapon skins. So, I’m not angry at IOI or disappointed. I think 30 $ is far to expensive for what they are offering with this new pack, but it’s nothing I would call shady.
Either that or they indeed just give you Legacy access for the specific mission they include in the 7 Sins.
I think you’re kind of missing the point. People aren’t upset that it’s a paid DLC, but rather that they’re charging a ridiculous amount for a few escalations and a few reskins; something that would previously have been free. If it had been something like each sin gives players a new Bonus Mission on par with Landslide or AHBOS, that would probably be worth the money. But $30 is just far too much for what they’re offering. That’s half the price of what the entirety of Hitman 1 was when it came out.
And what you think is a build-up of trust is just exploitation. They’ve built up a community of fans, many of whom, thanks to brand loyalty, will gobble up whatever low effort garbage they throw at them; without expecting anything better. If we keep encouraging these kinds of shitty business practices, then we’re gonna keep getting cheap low effort content; becuase they know they can get away with it.
