HITMAN 3: Seven Deadly Sins (NEW DLC)

Me personally i’m gonna pay the £5 each time, the way i see it, it’s no different to Call Of Duty or whatever charging ridiculous prices for cosemtic items and weapons, we got what we paid for in the Deluxe Edition, we didn’t know this existed till yesterday

Atleast Hitman 2’s Editions were not as confusing as the clusterf*** of confusion we have now and besides a few “twisted” words, actually gave us something worth the extra money.

I like AllThingsHitman, but he seems to have misunderstood what the Deluxe Edition was and is using that as the basis for his argument against this DLC

“New DLC, which is entirely separate to the deluxe pack. Doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense , seeing as the deluxe pack is supposed to include extra content”

“I don’t think this DLC was planned from the beginning… the telltale sign they’ve just decided to do this in the last maybe month, is because it’s not part of the deluxe pack. It wasn’t announced before launch at all”

The Deluxe Pack was never marketed as a ‘season pass’ for all H3 content. They stated what it was and they’ve delivered on that

Honestly, I find this whole thing exhausting. I get people are bummed out about no new maps being announced, seeing as that’s the extra content most would want. But the complaining about price when it’s essentially £4 a month for extra content, it’s really not a huge amount. And unlike story maps (like NY or Haven) this stuff is a lot more optional, so you really don’t have to buy it if it isn’t for you. Also we haven’t seen what we get yet, so just wait until it’s released and then have a more informed opinion

Everyone already “stuck” in this system, aka every current owner of any edition of either of the game, would still be stuck in this system. But everyone else could just grab the complete edition. And when it releases on steam, Im sure there will be some sort of “complete your collection” upgrade for everyone who owns only bits of the experience.

This seems most likely, but the sad part is that even the current ET’s are not accessible if you only bought Hitman 3 and the content each month has been very low, with march roadmap basically being like ‘just wait till april’ since we can afford to create something now.

I agree, Little taken aback by ET being old ones though I’m generally taken aback by ET and timed content in general.

Ok with small content road maps after release as can imagine staff being more busy bug fixes and preparing the new stuff down the road. Plus I think live service games are too over promising on updates.

Still think wait and see on the Easter Event and how the April roadmap looks like for idea of what to expect now.

Also quick one I would say Hitman 2 was not a rush job given Ghost Mode and Sniper Mode, and some rather grand maps. I think they just over-promised the expansion pass and when sales weren’t as good as they expected they took the hit in post release to focus on the Sniper Maps and Extra Maps. Since ET became less frequent and Bonus Missions being downgraded to slightly upgraded ETs.

Oh i’m not saying it lacked in content, you can just see the ‘stills’ used instead of active CGI, all the MK II items with just a sticker on it and various other things. They must’ve worked very hard to come up with the original new content that they did but there were rough edges around the game.

Well, it’s weird, but that’s exactly what happened with the Deluxe Escalations.

I had been waiting for information on that to help me decide whether I’d get the Deluxe or upgrade later, but it never happened.
Just some unlocks revealed and the message “other escalations will release at a later date” or something.
Nothing about what to expect of the gameplay or level structure, so customers were indeed expected to pay 30$ in advance before knowing what even was a “Deluxe Escalation”.

Again, it’s weird, but it’s not like it never happened before. Apparently this has been working for them as late comers can still decide to buy everything after it’s completed and revealed.

After sleeping on it, I’ve just came to the conclusion that this DLC isn’t inherently bad. I’ve seen and paid for worse. I hope that’s a general sentiment we can agree upon.

My only concern is if these are exclusively escalations. We are just finishing up the Deluxe Escalations and seemingly out of nowhere they announce new Premium DLC. Now I’m fine with DLC, I trust IO won’t underperform. But so have atleast for me two concerns regardless and that is variety and if IO is “tone deaf” about Free/Premium Content updates.

I understand Escalations allow IO to mess with concepts this is a clear example with the Halloween Hawkes Bay Escalations, but if the only Premium Content are just Escalations with a handful of unlocks then concerns are fully warranted. Variety is important when you have a game as a live service. For premium content this should also be the case. Patient Zero despite the flak and criticism it gets the campaign had variety to it and used concepts that worked and it provided content that is replayable and provides continued longevity to the game.

This is where I have to factor in Escalation’s. Escalation’s are one and done scenarios with of course escalating challenges. They are small pieces of content that vary in quality, but do people really replay them?

Have You Replayed A Escalation?
  • Yes, but this was to unlock a item in HITMAN 2 or HITMAN 3
  • Yes
  • No

I remain adamant that Escalation’s don’t add any meaningful replay value and are off brand to the core HITMAN Mechanics. While they are a refreshing change of pace from the standard gameplay. They feel like unique featured contracts made by the developer team at best.

I final point of contention is more so a critical standpoint off IO and their relationship with the community. For the most part between us and the developers it has been a good experience. The community could be argued as the backbone between a games success post release since they often or not have a clear idea of what they want to see in the game even though everything might not make the cut.

  • Contracts Mode Overhaul

Has been arguably one of the most requested things to be added to the game.

  • A True Photo Mode

The camera while being a “community requested” item for HITMAN 3 and has only been used for three locations to my knowledge was a half baked concept. Ansel Photography is a corner of the Community that we love, but a large majority of people can’t contribute due to the lack of a true photo mode for HITMAN 3

  • True First Person

Personally this one hurts for me, but one thing I always valued about the older titles was the ability to use first person. This feature allowed us to see through the eyes of 47 and digest information on a more personal scale. HITMAN 3 VR while amazing is the only way to do thin in the current trilogy and even then it’s far from perfect since it hinders the games visual fidelity drastically.

  • Premium Bonus Missions/Campaigns

This is something we all want, we want level variation. Day/Night, Christmas/Halloween, Rain/Shine. Level variations are what people I feel want the most since they are often the most praised for content judging from the overall reception of the Summer Bonus Missions for HITMAN 2016. If IO did more of that and didn’t lock variants behind Escalations a lot of people would be happy.

While it’s early to say what IO is really gonna do right now these concerns are apparent. We as a community want HITMAN 3 to have a product that is wrapped up nicely come the end of it’s content cycle. It would be a shame if content such as a Contracts Mode overall would be ignored or some of our favorite levels didn’t get variations similar to what we got for SBM.

I’m gonna buy the content regardless of price. I’m a HITMAN fan and it feels necessary to own it all with a game I love dearly.

A bit irritated this isn’t included in the deluxe package, since the deluxe package was $90. I was expecting to get all DLCs at that price, not have to pay an additional $30 for them. This is the only game I’ve every paid full price for, and now I have to pay more. It feels like a rip off. I will keep reminding myself that I am supporting the studio, and supporting the new Bond title, but I probably won’t buy that new title at full price because of this.

Nobody asked to pay for more escalations, we have plenty already, what we wanted were bonus maps and new missions like in H1 and H2.

And I’m sure IO is aware of this highly-requested piece of content.

But, whatever may have happened behind the scenes in discussion of post-launch DLC, it was decided that doing this slow burn of premium content was better/easier/feasable with whatever extra profits they got in H3.

The blog post is (unfortunately) full of vague wording, so we can’t totally write off the fact that we’re only getting Escalations or that they’ll be similar to what we normally see.

Heck, in terms of Free content, I think next month we might get the Goldballer for free, since that was heavily shown in the trailer, but isn’t a reward for the escalation. So, it’s not like all the cool stuff is being locked away to it.

I agree that’s a possibility. I do still have some good will towards IOI though. I will admit this dlc pack is very strange. I know people felt underwhelmed by the deluxe pack, but as a playstation plus member in the US I’m pretty sure it was $12 for me, so it wasn’t much of a disappointment.

Comparing what was $20 for 6 deluxe escalations, the sound track, the art book and whatever stuff I’m forgetting to $30 for 7 escalations, if that’s what they are, is such so drastic that I’m really just going to wait to see what the dlcs have before I comment on if they are worth it.

I think they have to be more than just escalations because there is no way it makes sense for them to up the price compared to the deluxe pack and lower the content. I’m not saying they won’t do it; if they do then I’ll be as pissed as everyone one else that is. I’m going to wait to see what the content is before I get mad or not.

Yes, though I usually think that the base product of something has the best value/price and everything additionally is lowering that. The Patient Zero price tag was also half H2016 and I think H2016 is worth more than two P0 campaigns.

Or the Expansion Pass for H2 costs 40€ currently, which is 2/3 of the base game’s price while only offering 1/3 of the maps.

So I am not surprised the value is lower here. Just personally it is too low.

No, I am no beta tester.
But they very likely are altered if the promotional pictures are not all made up:

So I kinda expect something like the Hawkes Bay Halloween contract.

I don’t replay Contracts or Escalation only to unlock items and challenges in Hitman 2 and the only reason I play Hitman missions over and over is because the challenges, so if the Seasons of Sins will have just 7 Contracts or Escalations for 300,- NOK then I’m not buying it, too expensive compared to the content we supposedly are getting for our money, I can afford it, but I will not support content like this, don’t care about the suits or the items either, my Agent 47 is a boring hitman, using boring gear and using his signature suit .

Agreed. I didn’t buy Patient Zero until it was on a major sale because of the value wasn’t there either. And as you said, we’ve gotten an even lower valued content drop. So this has told me now they IO have pushed the line more. To see how little they can produce and see how much people are still willing to pay. And if this succeeds it’s going to…escalate.

Thank you I’m here all day.

It’s minor environmental reskins IMO. It’s the scheme of do less, get more margin.

Cole Phelps Badge 1247. X to Doubt

I went on the PS5 version to get my free platinum ahah and checked it out. Yeah it’s quite crap. I still love my Widow with infinite invisibility lol

Oh With that I agree. I think MK2 stuff they realised fair bit in development that they won’t be using Hitman 1 as the Launcher and had to scramble to make items for new players to use if they didn’t have Hitman 1. CGI Stills could be the same given Square Enix split half way though and lost their outsourcing capabilities.

OK OK OK I think this is a high price point and a weak start for a good concept in DLC. If they were promising now that the 7 Deadly Sins pack will include at least one new map or at least a couple of PZ style reworkings wed all be a bit more excited. As they are teasing what looks to be Deluxe Pass 2.0 when most people feel that underdelivered with six competent escalations/reskins and some marmite extratextual digital content (only apparently with seven escalations this time and no non-game content) we are underwhelmed.

I can’t help noticing there are seven Sins though, and there are currently only six maps in the game…?

Was able to understand it generally but wasn’t the most digestible thing to read. Having something similar to the H2 roadmap would of worked alot better or mark a post of what is premium and what isn’t . Otherwise they jump around alot between free and premium where can be abit muddled.

The suit looks like a printed circuit board.
