I feel like the Berlin deluxe outfit will either be a reference to:
Rotterdam (C47 but probably Contracts with the reporter)
Blood Money (bird outfit, there is a lot of bird graffiti, and the eggs)
Absolution (I don’t know, anything could work but I hope it’s the motel bathrobe)
I know it’s odd to leave Absolution out and just double dip in Contracts and Blood Money but Absolution is that weird game in the series, even ignoring its mixed reception. We have 3 different distinct eras of Hitman really. The first 4 games, Absolution and now WOA. While Absolution is an old game it doesn’t have that same legacy or the same level as nostalgia, it’s like the middle child of the series.
I could see them just skipping Absolution entirely. Even if the game was universally beloved and played traditionally it just isn’t the same feel as the first 4 games. Those were when the series was more niche, it was back when they were all Eidos and they were what the new guys at IOI were inspired by when they took over. Them celebrating the first 4 games is paying respects to this bygone era.
I’m not trying to attack Absolution and I’d be happy to see some cool costume for it. But I feel like a double dip into the Eidos era is pretty likely.
I’d say the bird for berlin deluxe escalation, a motel bathrobe could work for a bonus mission version of bangkok, one where the rooms actually serve a purpose.
IOI are aware of the polarising Absolution reception so I feel like if they were going to do an Absolution suit it would have been better to put it in the initial 3 or the 2 we got yesterday. That way if someone is really anti-Absolution they get a reference to another game at the same time.
So I feel Blood Money is how they’d end it because it gets so much love and is put on a pedestal.
But also Absolution hate has died down since WOA came out so maybe it doesn’t really matter.
Most likely we’ll get a non-deluxe costume at the same time, i’m picturing like a sgail costume but with the bunny theme from the posters in Berlin. Either way, as long as the costume is interesting it shouldn’t matter if the game it came from was good or not, i myself wasn’t even aware of all these costume histories.
I’m hoping they bring back the ET Exclusive unlocks. I didn’t buy Hitman 2 when it released in 2018. Instead I waited for Hitman 3 and bought the H2 Standard Pass with it. Therefore, progress transfer is not an option for me.
Yes!!! if they insist on only gi giving up reskins then why not give us the ones we want? Plus who says it doesn’t work in the nightclub? There’s already that one naked dude. Maybe even more.
I don’t even like Absolution as a Hitman game. I just think it would be cool to get some closure on Birdie by taking him out in all kinds of absurd ways.
I love both of those. The priest suit has a uniqueness factor like the other deluxe suits, but I’d prefer the suit without tie since it’s classy as hell.
I’ve heard IOI initially wanted Birdie to show up in this story. At the end of the game there would’ve been a cutscene showing him in an apartment playing poker with Victoria, the Mystery Man and Olivia with the Alpha Zerox logo in the background.
I am staunchly pro Absolution being the next Deluxe escalation. Because I believe it would be odd and a tad disrespectful to ignore it
But I must admit you raise a good point. If any escalation was coming out on its own and as the finale to the Deluxe content no less, then Absolution would be hands down the weirdest choice for that

Would people be really that upset about an Escalation based on Absolution? I mean the Ninja Outfit Escalation was a reference to two of the worst levels in the entire franchise and I haven’t seen much hate for it. Except for a lot of YAME! - jokes, but they were in good fun.
So yeah, it would be odd the not include Absolution in the nostalgia pack. May not have been a good Hitman game but it’s still part of the franchise and they acknowledge it in the Legacy trailer.
I am staunchly anti-Absolution but I’m not going to stop people enjoying what they want.

Really surprised they didn’t end on the golden devil outfit, seems like the obvious choice.
Personally I’m happy with either, but I think if IOI had a choice they’d likely go for the 47 priest outfit for an unlockable suit in an Escalation because it’s more unique I guess? Either way I guess we’ll see what happens.
I just think of mystery man as a young Edwards. I mean it probably makes no sense lore wise but we’re really not going to get a resolution to that outside of like a spin off comic.
