They’re more beholden to the Executive branch than the Legislative. Congress can set the laws they operate under but by necessity all those laws require some wiggle room - otherwise the moment someone finds a loophole it becomes sitcom levels of absurdity but in real life. “Yeah, you banned guns, knives, pepper spray, tazers, crossbows and brass knuckles… but this here is a slingshot that launches buzzsaw blades and is perfectly legal for me to take onboard.”
Zuck’s problems have historically been that he’s relied upon a pretty basic deception tactic where he does something wildly illegal, then when investigated claims that its simply not possible to monitor or discover the extent of it etc. It wasn’t malicious, he just couldn’t monitor for it, etc.
This is obviously a trick you can only pull a couple of times before people start to get wise, particularly when you do things like announce “finding x information is impossible, the problem is simply too hard” and then that exact information appears in a prospectus to shareholders six months after the investigation ends.
What billionaires like Zuck need is Donald to:
- Appoint a head of the government department who will abuse their Executive authority to deprioritize everything specific to Meta.
- Get the Legislative Branch to pass some amendments etc to so they can’t be charged again in future.
- Install some friendly judges into the Judicial branch so that they can be sure if anything from before the amendments does come up, it’ll be disposed off with no harm to them.
This of course, requires a lot of cooperation between various groups, so is probably not going to be executed poorly by the upcoming administration.

Of course, this is unprecedented, but I guess it’s more reliable than having the president confirmed by Senate vote. Paul Ryan and Mike Johnson had the two knockouts minimum in the past anyway with Obama and Biden, only fair to continue.

Suspicion of him in that quarter is natural, since Kennedy for many years maintained a standard Democratic position favoring abortion rights, though it was never an issue that preoccupied him. Then, as a presidential candidate who drifted out of the Democratic primaries into an independent bid, he was all over the place on abortion. He made remarks that ranged from unconditional support for the right to choose even after fetal viability to support for a three-month national ban to various points in between.

If that was Vance then remember Johnson isn’t yet the speaker of the next House. Congress will convene in Jan and, just as they do after every election, the house would select a speaker and the senate would select a President Pro Tempore. Those people would be 3 and 4 in line for a vacated Presidency. The House Speaker would become president and s/he would chose their VP.
