Really, this doesn’t come as a surprise, seeing they skipped out June on their monthly newsletter. And we have yet to see any actual gameplay footage since the game’s announcement back in 2020. I guess The Crew: Motorfest will have to fill out the open-world driving game gap for me this year.

A brief look at Helldivers 2 gameplay! woohoo!

(Still seems strange to have less than half a year left yet not have a smaller window than ‘2023’ in the first trailer. Maybe they’ll reveal the date at Gamescom)
Oh god if they announce it as Liberty Day - Oct 26, October REALLY will be so stacked

Armour seems to be a mechanic this time rather than cosmetic.

Also… ooh! Cyborg tease at the end! They’ve been super selective with ONLY showing Bugs, so there’s definitely at least 2 factions at launch!

Ah well, just when all hopes are about to be lost. A 30 minutes long livestream isn’t bad at all, as we may finally see some proper gameplay!

You say that like the giant monopoly Microsoft is developing is a good thing…

Nah, already saw what good came from Microsoft owning Beth with Redfall and I’m not holding my breath that everyty game made under Microsoft will be without issues. As for the corporate side of things, let’s be honest, if it wasn’t Microsoft, it would have been someone else like Sony, Embracer or anyone with a lot of money to spend.

The only good thing I can see from these big corporate buyouts is that developers might leave and decide to make their own studios and make something that they enjoy working on.

Until Microsoft buy those companies and turn them into Gamepass game mills or some shit.

Speaking of video game availability, a study has found that classic (defined as pre-2010 games) video games now have a 13 percent availability rate.

To put this in perspective silent films have the same rate of availability as silent films (14 percent in the standard 35mm format).

We finally got to see some actual gameplays, but not quite what I expected.

I mean, being a multiplayer-focused games, TDU and TDU2 did emphasize on the social aspect, I suppose. But I was expecting to see an overview of gameplay and progression, rather than a bunch of players driving terribly and aimlessly. Still, there’s some hidden details to be spotted, like wreck collection and the ability to use turn signals.

It doesn’t look good for this game, however, is that the dev team currently goes on strike.

Nonetheless, wishlisting the game on PS5 and Steam is now available, with a coming closed beta as well.

They’re also releasing Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties

Back in 2003, what was supposed to be the second Shantae game for the Game Boy Advance got scrapped after the original Game Boy Colour game sold poorly. 20 years later, the devs of that game are going to finish the game, and through Limited Run Games, give it a release on the GBA in early 2024. I would hope/assume that this will just be released digitally as well for most of us who don’t own a GBA, but still this is a pretty awesome little passion project.

This is a little more of a speculation/rumour article, based on an interview with Gustavo Santaolalla, but it could very well be real!

The Last of Us Part 2 Remaster Seemingly Leaked by Composer

Fans may get another Last of Us-related project in the meantime though. In a recent Spanish interview, series composer Gustavo Santaolalla was told by an interviewer that they loved seeing him as a character in the game. Santaolalla can be found in Jackson at the start of The Last of Us Part II , playing a banjo outside of one of the buildings with a dog standing near him. That’s about as far as the interaction goes, but that may change. Santaolalla told the interviewer (thanks @BGarcN2 on Twitter for verifying) that in a new version of the game, players will be able to go up to his in-game character and request songs for him to play. However, he noted he can’t say anything beyond that.

According to google translate on the video, he does mention a new edition with an interactive Gustavo…

Last of Us Part 2 Remake coming in 8 years, folks!

TLOU2 already includes an insane amount of accessibility options and a sophisticated AI system which were the biggest changes made for TLOU1’s remake. I’m not sure how much they could even do to change TLOU2. Update the visuals even though they already look amazing? Update the gameplay which is already Naughty Dog’s best gameplay since their Jak and Daxter days? Give the clicker titties and clicker dicks more detailed models?

My biggest complaint with TLOU2 was the pacing. I didn’t like how you played as Ellie for several hours, building up to the climax at the movie theater, but then the game cuts to Abby’s story which is largely separate from Ellie’s and it takes several more hours to even get back to the climax at the theater. I thought it would’ve been better if they alternated Ellie’s and Abby’s chapters so you play each day as Ellie then play the corresponding day as Abby. Maybe this is what they’ll change for the remake.

Instead of a rerelease of TLOU2 I wish Naughty Dog would make another smaller-scale Uncharted game cause Lost Legacy was fantastic. But then again, Uncharted isn’t getting a big-budget HBO adaptation right now.
