They are already thinking that Skull and Bones might not be a success, so why let all that content go to waste when you can reuse it for a remake of Black Flag and recover some of that wasted money.

Make a goddamn mainline entry that is a spin-off and takes place during that time period. Donā€™t remake the actual game!

Youā€™re asking too much of modern Ubisoft. They know that BF is a fan favorite so, easy money. :person_shrugging:

OMFG. New international law: you cannot be in charge of any company or organization that creates art or entertainment unless you yourself are a hardcore fan of either the series or the overall art form itself. People who just see it as a business donā€™t get to call shots anymore.

Relax, no need to be rattled about it. Look, Ubi knows that SaB will be a flop and wonā€™t recover their losses so a good way to recover some of that money would be to reuse the assets from SaB to remake BF. Making a new AC game with the assets would mean to pour more time and money, which they probably they canā€™t afford with all the problems they currently have. :person_shrugging:

I have no respect for game remakes. The sole exception to this is the Resident Evil remake from 2002, and that was because it served as a course correction for the story and gameplay from the original. Beyond that, remakes to games in series that are still ongoing or otherwise unresolved, whether itā€™s the latest RE remakes, Silent Hill, Turok, or now AC, it have only my contempt.

They did, isnā€™t that what Freedom Cry is? Also Ubisoft canā€™t help it, Black Flag is a very solid entry in the series that is also very popular and Assassinā€™s Creed 1 is fucking ass compared to the rest now not to mention they already have all the assets from Skull and Crossbones so they might as well use them before writing the game off as vapourware.

State mandated fanboyism, I canā€™t think of anything worse for art. Also isnā€™t it hypocritical to say Ubisoft should be run by fanboys as a reaction to them remaking one of the most popular Assassinā€™s Creed games? Ubisoft canā€™t help it is people like Black Flag more than the first game.

Not relevant. Make another spin-off or mainline entry that takes place during that period, allowing them to use the resources from that other game for it. Some have suggested that a game telling the story of the ā€œJames Kiddā€ character would be something theyā€™d be interested in, go with that. Or set it during a particular space of time that is skipped over during the story of AC4, like every AC game does, allowing them to use the same characters and everything as something new and not redoing the same game.

Nobody is thinking of or asking for a remake to AC4, prior to this announcement. Anyone who claims to now has heard about this and likes the idea, but as a relatively recent inductee into the AC fandom, I have scoured years-worth of comments and info on each game in the franchise as I turned my attention to them one by one, wanting to know what all I missed by not being there as a fan as they came out, and never once was there even a whisper of remaking any game in the series past the first five games. If nobody was asking for this, then it doesnā€™t need to be done. And hell, even if it was being asked for, it still shouldnā€™t be done. Thereā€™s nothing from the original version to improve on.

Man, it seems like you are just like super pissed they arenā€™t remaking the first game that or you are truly angry at the idea of them remaking the game. Like I didnā€™t ask for Black Flag to be remade either but I am certainly not against it even though I am most likely not going to buy it. I would hate it if everything needed to have its existence justified by fanboys in order to exist (You should know that, we argued about it and it looks like you are doing it again)

Ubisoft have assets they want to use as they most likely scrap a game and they are making the most logical and best use of said assets left over so they donā€™t go to waste. It is easier to do that than make another Assassinā€™s Creed especially since there are four mainline entries still being made (Jade, Red, Mirage, Hexe) and they seem to be scaling back the scale of the games away from sailing and broad open-world design.

Iā€™d say redoing the mission structure to get rid of the training segments or at least make them more interesting or some shit. Oh and those old style platforming mission like the Assassin Tombs or Romulan Lairs, they should add more of those.

Just gonna jump in here and reccomend you probably take your debate to private conversation or a different thread like the unpopular games opinion thread (because yes remakes are popular, thatā€™s why they keep getting made)

And to finish with my two cents, I think itā€™s silly to remake AC4 and not silly to remake RE4 as the former is only 10 years old and has nearly the same gameplay style as current modern games (and iterations of AC, I think) whereas the latter uses outdated movement controls, graphics and fits more in line with the current RE survival-horror theming.

Thanks Chicken but yes it is a bit early to remake Black Flag, they are just doing it so they can justify the time spent making Skull and Crossbones. Ah well hopefully it introduces one of the best Assassinā€™s Creeds to a new generation at least.

Itā€™s the second reason. I only mentioned the first game once, and I donā€™t want them to remake it, but I would certainly like a digital remaster. But yeah, as I said earlier, I have no respect for the remaking of video games, at least in a series that hasnā€™t even concluded yet. Itā€™s infuriating. And if thereā€™s one game in the AC series that absolutely doesnā€™t need a remake, itā€™s Black Flag. I donā€™t even want them to remake Codename 47, just remaster it if they feel they must revisit it (sorry @MrOchoa).

No need to apologize, a Remaster is all i want. I fear that a remake would lose the things that made Codename 47 so special in the first place.

Funny because I hate remasters, most of them are just graphical upscales and then they price them like a contemporary videogame. Iā€™d rather they go the whole hog and actually try to improve the game.

Itā€™s that time of year again folks.

Iā€™m actually going to try (key word on TRY) to be good and not buy much this year. I already have a backlog of stuff I really want to get on.

I say make improvements with sequels and let the original stand. Iā€™m fine paying for an upscale of an existing game, if it means I can play it without having to plug in multiple consoles in order to play a series. Price has never been my concern; obtaining the product is my priority.

Small Soldiers is getting a videogame tie-in. Could be interesting, there actually is already a toy combat game called Hybercharged: Unboxed you can get on Steam that is relatively popular. This is just an announcement trailer with no gameplay but it is genuinely great and well animated, a nice little short that distills the concept. Hopefully the game can be as good.
