Game News Thread

Well that was a load of weird. A few interesting announcements – Disney & Gameloft’s racing game is somehow still “coming soon”, there was a reveal of an Avatar RPG shooter game exclusively for mobile??, there’s some sick looking Midnight Suns animated shorts coming in October, and some sort of untitled Black Panther & Captain America game is in development between Marvel and Skydance Studios.

Apart from that… mehh? A bunch of mobile game ads, a few surprises like a Lucasfilm Monkey Island plug, a reminder of EA’s Avatar game. That’s kind of it.
They showed off Kingdom Hearts 4, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine in the sizzle-reel at the end, but they were all unfortunately nowhere to be seen today. Ah well

Just a reminder for those wanting to catch it today. Along with a number of yet unannounced IPs, there are rumours of multiple Assassin’s Creed games to be revealed.

I saw this as an ad recently on youtube, wasn’t sure what it was supposed to be advertising until the end – turns out Assassins creed turns 15 this year.

So they’re probably gonna announce that long-in-development AC Live Service game Infinity or whatever it is. Idk I’m scared, live service games always have some spooky catch, usually involving money/MTX, and we know Ubisoft looooves that.

Damn, 15 years of convoluted plot line spread across 24 games.

so what’s your favourite assassin’s creed game?

i only played 1, 2, black flag and the multiplayer segment of brotherhood. i only completed 1 and found that a struggle to maintain interest. the multiplayer for brotherhood was excellent though.

Brotherhood and Black Flag.

Ezio trilogy. Black Flag is overrated simply because everyone praised the naval gameplay / exploration which could have been any other game. The missions were complete doodoo in that game.

Assassins creed is one of those series you either like or dislike, this goes for both types of ass. Either you like bland ubisoft open world or bland ubisoft open world but people have numbers above their head now

1 and 2. Altair is a pretty cool badass and the City of Akkon was great.
Ezio is also alright and quite charming but my favorite moment is when they hang his brother, because i fuckin hate Petruccio.

Definitely character wise Assassins creed 2/Revelations/Brotherhood (Ezio ofc), vibe wise though im gonna say AC Origins got me so much in the mood. Exploring Tombs and pyramids to entering the Duat (Egyptian hell) and beyond this game had it all and the soundtrack was amazing

Odyssee. I began playing with Origin, then played the Ezio collection or how it is called. It was fine but I lack the nostalgia to really like these.
Valhalla felt random, never could really bond with the characters.
But Odyssee was great, Kassandra was really likable and the world was a joy to travel. Just the kids looked all the same.

Well the rumours were right. Along with the world premier reveal trailer for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, set in Baghdad, and releasing in 2023.

They also announced that they are working on Codename: Red, which is an Assassin’s Creed game set in feudal Japan. Sadly, the video doesn’t really show much

And another title called Codename: Hexe, and like Codename: Red, the video doesn’t reveal very much, but they did say they were looking forward to fans picking apart the hidden clues. They also said it would be a “different” gaming experience, but nothing more was said.

They also talked about Unity and how this would allow players to access the Assassin’s Creed universe with some kind of Animus experience. They also teased that there may be multiplayer options. Finally, they also talked briefly about the upcoming Netflix live action Assassin’s Creed TV show. (Actually they also talked about a mobile version of the game, but who cares?)

Does anyone else think a game set in Feudal Japan with a ninja/lady ninja (don’t know the actual name something with a K) is just a really cheap and thoroughly uninspired choice for a setting and character?

Fans of the series begged Ubi for an AC set in Japan for years and they said they will never do it. Guess they changed their mind after Ghost of Tsushima.

How times have changed.

I really like the setting of feudal Japan but lately there are a lot of games set there…
