Yeah hardcore mode is a miss. Don’t bother, it’s too difficult and unfair, you won’t have fun playing it.
Who here thinks it would be fair or reasonable to deny “I’ll Be Back”, “A Worthy Sacrifice”, and “Cold Feet” challenges in Hard-Core Mode that way there’s absolutely no rewards from most probably failing?
I don’t see why it matters. What about a hypothetical player that finds normal mode a breeze but hardcore mode a true challenge? Especially once a solid player has found a number of early tools in the game, failure becomes much rarer. With that idea, that player would then have to grind the challenges in normal mode before returning to typical play in hardcore, which is even more inorganic play than just failing in hardcore mode.
This is even more true for “Cold Feet”–in normal mode most players fail missions by dying or having a target escape in a showdown, mostly because dying in shootouts is much harder in normal mode, so players have a greater incentive to try to make it through a shootout than flee the mission. In Hardcore mode, shootouts are more dangerous, and the player actually has the incentive to flee the mission to avoid the increased risk and consequences of combat. Why should they be denied progress on the challenge? This line of thinking does not make any sense to me from a design perspective.
I’m very jealous… but where do you find the time to unlock so much?!
I’ve been forcing myself to pick the Druzhina ICA Arctic sniper rifle anytime I get a sniper objective. I definitely agree with you though, I’m gonna miss using my favourite sniper rifle (sieger 300 advanced) because of this challenge!
It takes so long to load and unpack too that you need to time it right or you’ll get guards swarming on you very quickly!
For the Druzhinas / Jaegers it’s better not to put them back in the briefcase right where you shot - just grab your briefcase, move away to some tall grass or a different room, and hide your rifle in the briefcase there. Guards will usually inspect the location where you shot, so you’ll be safe. I tend to use the Druzhina DTI (unsilenced) for that challenge as I like the whole shooting on the run thing
(well since friday evening)
It has been a bit unhealthy during the week-ends, the joy of a naturally messed up sleep pattern. Honestly I just wanted to hit the 50 in each locations, and the 10 of each syndicates before slowing down. Which is what I’m going to do now.
I also had the mastery 100 as an objective, but looking at how much is asked now I think I will leave it for the next month or so.
Well, I guess it was inevitable. I now have this fancy frog in my shelf of trophies.
I can’t prove anything, but I think I was fucked over by invisible tattoos again.
I have been playing Freelancer almost non-stop, meaning whenever I am picking up the controller I’ll log into Hitman 3 to take down some syndicates.
The only thing, and really the only thing, I would love for a different instinct mode.
I usually don’t play the game with instinct on. Deactivating instinct is such a drawback in Freelancer because of all the symbols you’d have to manage using the map in the menu – I don’t use the mini map either.
I doubt something like this will be implemented though.
That sucks. You had already done so much to get to the last syndicate contract, only to get ripped by a stupid camera
If you need something to cheer you up, have a look at this precious trophy. Hard work, dedication, blood, sweat and tears. And you get …
Oof, yeah… the cameras on Alerted Territories have MASSIVE viewcones, it’s almost cartoonish.
Did it!
My final showdown in Santa Fortuna almost went without a hitch. I had to go through screening all nine suspects only to have the final one be the target but it was fun. Snipes him in the head like a melon man!
Got made in the mansion guard outfit by an enforcer, but is it me or is Freelancer more forgiving in that regard? Not talking about the lookouts, but the general enforcers. Once they start talking I just run away from them and get some distance in between us. After a short while he forgets all about me and isn’t even marked in orange. Was it always like that?
I might be mistaken, but I believe this is the case only for civilians. At least those are the NPCs I remember experiencing this with.
It wasn’t always like this as far as I know.
It’s also the case for armed guards. I had it happen with a Mansion Guard.
I enjoy the loading screens and music added with Freelancer a lot. The Hitman 1 melody appearing in parts of H3’s OST and also here is great.
I hope these tracks make it out somehow. There are rips on YouTube, but they’re YouTube quality. Maybe add them to our IOI accounts if we have the Deluxe Pack like with the other OSTs?
Hitman 3 Deluxe DID come with all three OST.
Exactly. But Freelancer wasn’t a thing yet. I’m suggesting they add Freelancer’s OST as a retroactive gift.
Which is fucking awesome because it recognises the correct, official canon version of her name, amirite @MrOchoa? #ContractsFTW
