Freelancer - General Discussion

I know the kitchen unlocks right away, just wanted to point out how cheap unlockables are, but that’s beside the point.

For Dead Space, it’s not about endless grinds, it’s about difficulty, and it rewards the good player. However, the fact that other games also introduce infinite grind does not mean that it is correct.

Missing statues = new content
Ether Facility flyer dropped in Ambrose Island= New Map 2023

Devs are not gods, I’m not a slave that must accept mad terms to enjoy the full experience of the game
We’ve all noticed how many mistakes developers make, and they’re not infallible

Spend your time as you see fit, I just found your answer “just play the game lol” incorrect as if grind should be normalized as a source of entertainment

After a streak of 10 campaigns, it finally happened. A lookout, in the New York lobby. I was shot down in less than five seconds by all the guards.
Goodbye to my 1,400,000 Merces, down to half. Fortunately, the only weapon on me was a 5mm. Shouldn’t be too costly to buy back

At least now, I won’t feel bad while I go on to farm the “Cold Feet” challenge.

Wait is it really the first time you died? Wow, you must be reaaaally good.

Oh no, this is my third death, first since last Saturday though. And the first one since I actually understood how the mode plays in details and take it seriously. I have 15 campaigns done now.

(edit : fourth, I forgot about when I was running around collecting items. Isle of Sgail, penthouse. climbing is hostile)

The first death was in alerted bangkok, because. So. Many. Enforcers

The second was glorious : I was in Hokkaido. Not the alerted one, the normal one.
Now picture the situation : 47 has his back to the wall, and I want to attract an NPC to the corner to subdue them. Simple, basic Hitman stuff. Just throw an item to the wall at your own position to attract them.
But this is at the start of the level, in Hokkaido, so without too many items laying around. So let’s look at the inventory. Most of it are weapons, un-throwable. Here they are : the two duckies I always bring. Good. I actually done that a few times in the same situation in Freelancer…

I used the proximity one by accident

The business or secret meeting tell for the target is ridiculous. I have yet to encounter a suspect who doesn’t have secret meetings.

So, did anyone get the DLC for this?

I’ve been considering it, not because I find the packs in total particularly appealing (parts of them are though), and not because of some completionist part of me (though I’ll admit seeing the empty gun rack hurts a bit), but rather because I feel like this new mode is quite fantastic, and I want to support IO.

(reposted from another thread where I deleted my post, as it wasn’t an appropriate thread)

I got it without hesitation and without regrets.
Gives you a bunch of extra stuff to unlock, which is for me the most fun part. Not that I’ll use much of it.
And yes, supporting IOI, because why the hell bot. Freelancer is one heck of a gift that keeps on giving.

Got the DLC only to support ioi, never used any weapon, hoping they use resources for more maps and content

I did. Both of them.

Honestly there is only one item that I find interesting in it (The Scrap 5mm, because 5mm are my go to weapon in Hitman, and I like the 3d printed aesthetic of it).

It mostly was to support IO, after having played 30-40h of Freelancer, and finishing the Weapon Wall.
The added collection on the next campaign, and the neat completion of the wall was more of a bonus.

Does the DLC weapons bound to mastery level like ancestral weapon? Or once purchased, it unlock everything

No, it’s like an extended wall of stuff you can find in crates and vendors

Bought them to support IO.

Only used the Makeshift sniper so far, which was fun.

Or maybe it will simply be them recovering the development costs of the free map we already got last year and the new game mode that is quite substantial. Some people… smh.

Yeah the scrap SMG is my second main weapon, after the Assassin pistol.

Left the Sieger 300 Advanced, which I bought from a supplier, in New York. Wanted to retrieve it before exiting and it totally slipped my mind. Absolute fucking pain.

I’ve found that losing a weapon or two later in the game (when the wall is filled up) is a lot less painful than in the early ones. You’re likely to recoup that missing weapon really quickly since you A) probably have quite a few Merces saved up, and B) will get that weapon right away at the next supplier or reward crate since it’ll be the only thing(s) you’re missing.

Yeah this is my first campaign itself, so quite painful at the moment. That’s the only sniper I had.

One caveat, if you go for the reward crate : the reward crate is limited by its place in the campaign :

  • first showdown : up to common
  • second showdown : up to rare
  • third showdown : up to epic
  • finale showdown : up to legendary

But it seems like they give priority to their respective higher rarity.

So if you loose an epic item, as an example, you will gain it back this way only if you beat the third syndicate.
No easy legendary back after only two 1-2 targets takedown and a simple 4 suspects showdown.

Long story short, I triggered evacuation of every non target suspect after I killed the leader, and this is, all of them guards walking back after all suspects have escaped, very cool!

Sorry for poor quality, this is a screenshot from a video
