Freelancer - General Discussion

Prestiged for the first time and noticed that my Collector’s lockpick and coin weren’t taken. Did anyone else get the same thing?

Yup. When I collected everything again and reset again, it took everything except the coin.

So it’s just busted at certain levels I guess where different things can be left behind.

I mean… The Collector´s items should all be made to remain there. That´s kinda their point, prestige or not, right?

The “Arrange a meeting” prestige objective still doesn’t work for me.

I took the phone from a non-target. I had to eliminate them, to put them in a box, so they don’t get found and spook everyone else. After I called the meeting the target and one other non-target showed up, but the objective didn’t trigger.

It baffles me how this still isn’t fixed even after the huge patch we got this week.

Which makes the change to perfect shooter to shoot them moot.

You mean your old favourite feature brought back in hitman.

Well, I’m about halfway through my first Prestige and I think I may just need to put this game down for awhile, maybe permanently. I was really hoping that the May 11th patch would inject some new life into Freelancer and make it feel more worth playing long term but after two whole campaigns and about 2/3rds of a weapon wall finished I realized that I wasn’t playing each level for fun. I just wanted to collect as much money as possible as quickly as possible and run to a supplier and the constant glitches and nonsense that goes on in Freelancer didn’t feel fun and exciting, it just felt like IOI was stealing hours of my time away from me for arbitrary reasons. The increased value of SA objectives now makes them feel even worse when you fail them for something stupid (like getting seen through walls as happened to me yesterday). Hide Target Bodies and Perfect Shooter still feel like auto fails (Perfect Shooter less so now, but just… ugh). I have something like 40 campaigns under my belt now and I just feel exhausted. I’ve killed what feels like every NPC in the game in every possible way with every possible restriction multiple times and now only see the target list as a scale from easy to annoying.

There’s no more spark of excitement or discovery. There’s nothing left to “collect” (just things to re-collect… again). Prestige doesn’t recreate that same feeling of completion that I got the first time I finished the weapon wall for two reasons: One, I already had the weapons and gave them up. I’m not getting the last things I don’t have. I’m getting back something I already had. These feelings are different and one is exciting and one feels like a chore. Two, I know the only option after I get them all is to dump them all in the trash and start over again with another Prestige. Three, (yes, there’s a third thing now) Prestige just isn’t providing me anything that feels worthwhile. I’m already level 100, so the XP is meaningless (I actually don’t even know how much bonus XP it is, is it worth it if you’re not level 100? Or does the lack of gear slow you down to the point it’s faster just to grind out more missions faster with a full loadout?) and I still can’t figure out how much extra money I might be making, if any, and what do I need money for anyway? If it was larger magazines for my guns or a lower noise profile or even just a special coin that could feel like a reward but once I complete all X prestige levels what is my reward, exactly? More money. Not even that much money, but more useless money that I can… not spend on anything since my collection will be complete. Even doing the first prestige, I don’t feel like money is a real inhibitor. The primary thing that slows down my progress is how many large items I can cart out of each mission. Come on IOI, give me a box or something like in Blood Money where I can store stuff.

I’m tired and this isn’t worth it.

Dang, thats so strange. It was one of the first prestige objectives I picked after the update, and it was cleared with the first phone I used from a random suspect.

That’s never worked for me, I’ve always had to use 2-3 phones or more, and its usually the target’s phone that triggers it completed.

Hmm, that’s weird. Maybe the bug is only triggered sometimes or maybe it only affects some players. I will try again if it comes up another time.

I had some free-time this weekend and wanted to make the most of it! I’ve been playing Freelancer for a while and most of the tips I’ve managed to pick up along the way. I also prioritised choosing syndicates where the objectives best fit my playstyle as well as map pool - I like Arms Trafficking, Assassination, Big Pharma and Psy Ops the most! When you choose the best maps you know well, it becomes a lot easier to grind them out. There’s been a few hiccups though - was killed by an Assassin on Whittleton Creek whilst sniping the escaping leader!

Why i can’t enter in first Prestige Level ?

If I’m not mistaken, you’re still missing some ancestral weapons.
You basically can’t increase your prestige level until you’ll reach mastery level that unlocks them.

I’m on PlayStation, otherwise this would have been perfect. Thanks anyway!

Just want to say, If you’re playing hardcore, do not choose ‘perfect run’ because sometimes you can’t finish all other objectives. And in hardcore, only prestige objective is mandatory, but choosing perfect run as a PO, that makes all the other objectives mandatory too.

As much as I bitched and moaned about the Freelancer Prestige before the patch was released, I’m actually enjoying working on getting to the magic number of ten (and then immediately bailing on ever doing it again). I’m only about 18 items away from performing my third reset. I hadn’t really played much of Freelancer for the last month or so, so it’s been great to have a reason to really dive right back into it.

As much as I’m curious about what happens on the trophy when you reset for the 100th time (the trophy only has space for two digits on it), I’m not even going to tell myself that I want to do it to find out. Maybe I’ll just cheat and use a mod on Steam to satisfy the curiosity at some point.

This made me laugh out loud. Been a while since I did that: well done!

So I learned the hard way that leaving Colorado for a showdown is not worth it to pick maps that have lower target counts in territory takedown. BUT If you gotta do a Colorado Showdown then if you use Freelancer Variations set it to only load The Vector on Showdown, much more pleasant experience, not as many guards and enforcers around.

Is the XP gain with higher prestige levels worth while the loss of all weapons. Do you progress much faster in mastery level?
