Freelancer - General Discussion

This ‘suspect teleportation’ has been found before, but using ‘leaving mission area’ points.

We did a bit of experimenting with other spots. I can confirm it doesn’t work with ‘sniper towers’ or just any spot that NPCs can’t access. A couple other good spots include:

  • Whittleton Creek bus stop outside of mission area, and the bridge past the exit point.
  • Berlin outside mission area near the bus start.

I love the aesthetics of actually having a visible collection of tools and weapons. It takes me back to the silent assassin (og hitman 2) days when you had that shed full of things u collected. Awesome man! I love freelancer!

The suspects dance the dance of death.

How exactly do I get this challenge to register? I somehow have 8/10 completed.

I tried calling from one of the suspect’s phone. All the rest came looking for it, and then started walking away. Nothing happened.

It is bugged, you just need to just keep on doing it until it finally counts, i think I’m on 9 and it hasn’t worked for like 4 campaigns!

Oh boy. Hope they fix this in the next update. Even the prestige objective never works.

When I was doing it, it only counted ‘business’ type meetings.

I’m done for the day, but I’ll try and see if this works tomorrow, thanks.

What helped me is when activating a phone, continue standing still. Don’t do anything else until you see the challenge progress appear in the top right.

Oh man, that’s nasty.

I feel empty if I loose my Legendary SilverBaller, so god knows what I’d do if I lost all that :open_mouth:

It feels great to know that I won’t have to touch the Druzhina snipers ever again :slightly_smiling_face:

I think it would be a good idea to flavor the prestige objectives according to the syndicate type you chose. I find it weird to see a Silent Assassin option when at the same time you’re supposed to kill 6 guards with an assortment of weapons.

Ah but you see, Freelancer is all about planning. We have to use our big, intellectual brains to foresee that some situations end up being non-viable and certain syndicates are never worth playing. That’s choice!

Freelancer Hardcore sometimes gives you “gems” like that - you can feel through the video that I almost soiled my pants

Thankfully, Alt + F4 is an option

I think that was because you threw the briefcase while the guard at the frisk point was watching. That’s a thing to prevent players from just throwing briefcases with illegal items to the other side of the frisk point.

(In this case here, it’s of course stupid that the guard acted as if you were at his frisk point in the first place…)

I support this.

This scenario always happens to me as well. I had one the other day which was prestige objective - Silent Assassin No Firearms, however, all the other standard objectives involved using Unsilenced Firearms :joy:

What if you lose SA while you’re doing that mission, the other objectives could be like a backup.

I just played a showdown in Dartmoor with SA as an objective, but when I saw what I saw and sniper in my possession, I couldn’t say no. Bye bye SA, hello sub-minute showdown.

Couldn’t quite believe my luck on this one… (skip to 2:30)

Collateral kills are easier to achieve if only the target is knocked out and the collateral is awake. One way to do this is to throw an explosive device from cover to knock out a target then set it off when the collateral runs up to examine the body.

Those could work, but the roofs over the porches where you climb via the rain-gutter drain pipe might be better.

Thinking of other missions…

Paris on the pile-driver barge sniper nest.

Marrakesh on the other side of where the old man/retired school teacher is, the area between the shisha café and other rooftop of the shops, the roof area near an exit and the 2 other (inaccessible to NPCs) areas.

Colorado water tower.

Hokkaido (if you have the Ninja… Well, it would be on the roof, but seeing as how that disguise isn’t normally available)… Unless you can come in with the white one and still climb that pipe.

Santa Fortuna… (already shown the log) but the area that crosses that stream is also inaccessible to NPCs. The scaffolding on the other side of the broken wall around Rico’s mansion.

Mumbai… There are the upper catwalks and various trains you can climb up on. Maybe even anywhere along the sewer trench, and the bottom of the elevator shaft.

Isle of S’gail… The starting spot that overlooks the money bonfire.

Dubai… There’s at least 1 exterior platform (for window cleaning) that one could get on, and the scaffolding areas accessible via ladder.

Dartmoor (already mentioned) the area above Alexa’s office.

Berlin… (There are many places you can climb up/down to).

Chongqing… There is one bamboo scaffolding outside the block area near where they have the guy in the orange jumpsuit (Doctors asking him questions), a bridge between 2 roofs (above the apartments and where they have the drones flying around), and the many tunnels inside the ICA facility.

Mendoza… The attic, the villa roof, the (tunnels?) below the wine storage area.

That’s all I can think of off the top of my head.
