Freelancer - General Discussion

I had this problem - I shot a few times to startle the guards, they ran around the lab and panicked all the researchers, including my target who decided to run outside and stood under the stalactite.

I had one target to be killed with a shotgun, and 3 other (non-target) guards (Whittleton Creek). I thought Iā€™d get the main/real target out of the way, then go for the guardsā€¦ I shot them in the street and was going to dump them into a manhole. Instead of dumping the body quickly so I wouldnā€™t be compromised and subsequently gunned down by the nearby guards ā€“ I end up exiting without getting to shoot the bonus guards. :rage:

I got to the results screen but Alt+F4ā€™ing only brought me back to the safehouse upon restarting the game. I mean, obviously. But the fudged-up mission was already completed. :face_exhaling:

Is anyone else experiencing constant crashing when a level is loading? I can usually tell when the progress bar gets toā€¦

LOADING. . . .

It will have a short moment where it freezes, then another few framesā€¦ and pop. Back to the desktop.

I restart the game, retry the same mission with the same loudout, suit, etc. etc. Then it seems like itā€™s another roll of the dice on whether it will crash or fully load.

RE: the bulletproofing of the Sapienza biolab containment windows.

The centre window is not bullet proof, but the two windows either side are.

Yeah. As cool as that sounds, it would probably get pretty tedious after a while.

I think thereā€™s a thread called Freeloader dedicated to this stuff

After playin Freelancer a while, Iā€™ve started to memorize all the additional NPCs they added to many maps. On New York, these additional NPCs show up all the time (I think Ambrose too, at least the patrolling guards are always present). However, on many of the other maps, it seems like the new NPCs only show up if theyā€™re specifically a target, and if theyā€™re not they donā€™t show up at all. Some examples Iā€™ve noticed are the biker who stands on the walkway between the club and biker hangout on Berlin and the penthouse staff member who hangs out by the security room with the sleeping guard in Dubai. This seems kinda weird to me, but maybe they felt the bigger maps would be too complex if they kept all the NPCs in all the time

Stupid things update: i threw a baseball ball as distraction but it was a baseball EXPLOSIVE ball and I failed the entire campaign dying instantly and losing two sieker and a legendary silenced gun :sob:

Apparently one of the higher-up bank guards is immune to chloroform. I knocked out everyone with chloroform in order to achieve discreetly knocking out three guards unnoticed optional objective in the vault security room and then deliberately set off the vault alarm to lure in as many guards as possible to discover the bodies and try to awaken them. All but one was knocked out because he was immune and he spent the rest of the mission waking everyone upā€¦ again and again and again.

For the record, ā€˜butā€™ and ā€˜alasā€™ donā€™t mean the exact same and thereā€™s nothing grammatically incorrect about using them together.

If we do want to be incredibly boring and pull people up for minor grammatical errors, then I should point out that this sentence is, somewhat ironically, grammatically incorrect:

Those are two independent clauses. If you want to combine them in the same sentence, you either need to use a conjunction or a semicolon. A comma on its own is not sufficient.

Or we could just choose not to be the most tedious people in the universe policing othersā€™ grammar.

Oh god, thereā€™s nothing worse! :expressionless:

Do you have many Merces? Hopefully you have enough and you can buy them back from suppliers quickly.

Excuse me sir, Heisenberg is a self appointed extreme genius, so he must be right. We will not have this slander on the forum. Thank you.

Just had a Sick Games syndicate called ā€˜Funny Friendā€™ :joy:

Even when I thought I had played a lot of the syndicate names by now, new ones pop up and surprise me!

Eh, screw it, that first version of this post will just be interpreted as asking for more trouble and probably flagged. Forget it.

THANK YOU

Use more semicolons!

Nah they were all originally inside. It was one of the guards I lured over and he was well inside the room. Even turning the A/C off and on didnā€™t work. A random bug obviously but kinda humorous to watch over the pop-up video.

If it makes you feel better, this is what I had in my inventory on Colorado, while doing the syndicate with Shotgun, Assault rifle and SMG kills.

  • Legendary Shotgun
  • Sieger 300 Ghost
  • Shortballer
  • The expensive variants of Sieker and Kalmer
  • The expensive variant of Lockpick

Died in a fucking shootout.

Colorado is the riskiest Freelancer destination IMO. 100% hostile map and virtually everyone has longarms. Things can go south very quickly. On the rare occasions I do visit, itā€™s cathartic to go full Wicker Man.

Colorado is fine except for that particular syndicate with various rifle kills.

Thatā€™s how I got the Burning Man challenge
