Elusive Target Arcade

Yeah very toxic post that one - and too late to get rid of now. Perhaps it’s my account that must be gotten rid of at this point.

Toxic, no. Bonkers? There seems to be a consensus…

Really happy they finally let us replay elusive targets. I’ve just come back to the game the other day and love how much more there is to do now.

So with the ET Arcade finally actually getting a new contract with The Oroborous I have a proposal for the ET Arcade to give it more appeal/longevity (I’m sure someone else has suggested something similar in the past):

An option to have a randomized contract! 3 random targets from the dozens that are available and a random complication. With options to make it more difficult like having 5 targets, harder complications (eg No Pacifications instead of 1 Pacification), or even making the complication mandatory instead of optional. Failure has no time limit punishment, and you can either retry the contract or generate a different one. And hey, challenges for completing X randomized contracts could be a way to have unlocks like the Streak suits!

That would actually keep my playing for hours i think. Especially now we’re getting Sean too

Speaking of The Oroborous, is there gonna be any reward for finishing it? There always was, but I haven’t seen any in roadmap.

I don’t think we know but if I had to guess maybe a eye patch less version of the new dlc suit

This is exactly what I’ve been dreaming for months, you could even include some ET esque missions like Special Assigments and Sarajevo 6. The mandatory complications could be hard to implement though because you might get incompatible combinations like no pacifications on The Entertainer.

Well, incompatible’s not exactly true. For me (especially in Freelancer) No Pacifications just means kill them instead. It would just be incompatible with Silent Assassin which isn’t a requirement anyway. Though they could make Silent Assassin or SA - No Firearms part of the complication pool.

And yeah AJ Krish, Basil Carnaby, and Galen Vholes would be nice to have so there’s more representation of non-2016 maps, but Blair Reddington? I don’t know about that

Ah yes, totally forgot about that, I guess I’ve been playing SA too much recently that I forgot you can just kill them lol. I guess mandatory complications wouldn’t be a problem then.

About Reddington, yes, that mission sucks, but to be fair, there’s other horrible ETs that I think are worse than EOTS (I mean, Reddington at least moves), so I don’t see why he should be excluded.

That would be nice. The gauze ruins it (if anything, an actual eye patch would´ve been better, but I prefer patch-less all the way).

Something that would be interesting is the introduction of a new ET Arcade with the Deceivers (Guru and Congressman), because the current ETAs that feature these ET have the same complication: restricted loadout. Would be fun to have this mission with open slots to choose the way we want to complete this mission.

Was originally replying to this, but moved my post here since it’s probably more fitting.

To add some ETA complication ideas of my own (those might probably be difficult to implement, but I’m throwing them out there for fun):

  • Late arrival: Target starts already in one of their alternate routes (or past their one-time start routine).
I replayed Ellipses recently and found it annoying how much waiting can be needed for targets from that track (Collector/Liability/Ascensionist) to start their later loops, especially after messing up and having to restart. Stowaway/Ex-Dictator/Deceivers (Guru to be exact) could be another combo to try that comes to mind at the moment. If saves in ETs are not allowed, this could be a decent compromise for the wait-intensive ETs.
  • Collaborators: There are additional Elusive Targets present (basically stitching 2 ET missions into one).
Bonus points if those ETs have lore connections (e.g. Forger+Broker, Ex-Dictator+Warlord)
  • Heavy Surveillance: More cameras, evidence recorders are removed.
Initially came up with this as a potential modifier for Serial Killer, since I thought it would be a challenging addition for an otherwise safe and small area with a lot of NPCs to beware of. Though I believe some other ETs could work with it as well.
  • Interception: Target carries an item you have to collect (possibly illegal to pick up).
Initially thought of it when thinking about Politician’s easy gas lamp kill and various poison kills for other ETs.
Though I guess this complication is particularly “anti-fun” and its goal can be achieved with already existing melee kils only complication, so I don’t see is as that good.
  • Idk how to name it: Eliminate at leas 3 guards, eliminating guards no longer affects SA or score (like in Wrath Termination).
Technically you can already play this way when ignoring the red guns in the corner, but having some sort of official encouragement like in Freelancer might still be worth considering I think. Mostly intended for targets with annoying amounts of guards nearby such as Angel of Death, Bookkeeper, Warlord, Ex-Dictator or Gunrunner. Politician might also be fun for “kill everyone except the body double” runs.

We should submit these ideas to @Combatglue and see if he can implement any of these. Your ideas are great.

No recorders is a great idea. Some sort of “it’s in the cloud” reasoning in world but in game would be punishing bc one wrong step and it’s over. The game won’t let you be on camera even if you’re doing nothing wrong (which is silly bc we know 47 flies commercial and we know aeroports have cameras… oh well :joy:)

The Oroborous ETA is live, and free to play for the next four weeks.

I’m curious to see if the condition (pen elimination) is the same in all three stages, or if a different one will be given for each.
Hope for the latter.

2nd level has no conditions and the third level is:

They’re also mandatory. Not optional.

Well that’s very annoying

So,
First stage is the “canon run”, that gives Faba his eyepatch.
Second stage is open approach.
Third stage is SASO.

I think I’m ok with that.
