DEFINITIVE POLL: Is the Deluxe edition worth it for you?

Simple answer to topic question. I can’t play the game. Don’t know.

To be honest I mostly got the deluxe to support IOI. Soundtracks are cool though, and escalations can be fun when I’m in the mood, but is it $30 worth? Probably not. But IOI deserve the support and I’ll put hundreds of hours in so it’s still a great value.

Yep. I think the Deluxe edition is more of a way to support developers more, and the in-game items along with soundtrack and commentary are kind of a nice bonus - not what you’re paying for though.

Given how expensive cosmetics are in games these days I think it’s reasonable. Would I do it again? Probably not. I miss the days all the cool stuff people wanted was just included in the game rather than an optional extra to grab even more money from people.

Like the items and digital bonuses and the Escalations are ok but could of been better. Perhaps could of taken a bit Hitman Codename 47 by doing pacifying or stealing an item or a few guards for the final escalation to take out the target.

Still the Escalations were fairly challenging so good to see at least.

Not worth it in the slightest but I got it because at the time I thought I’d be supporting IOI for producing the final game in a trilogy that I’ve enjoyed.

Their absolute amateurish response to every post-release issue makes me think I should have just picked the Standard Edition or waited it out. The pre-order suits are cool but cool enough to justify a day 1 release that’s almost fundementally broken? Probably not.

Besides the carry over, i played the first day without any problem whatsoever. I think they could have predicted some of this things, true, and they are to blame for that, but it’s wasn’t totally broken

They missed an opportunity to render Lee Hong and the others as “Bonus Episodes” rather than escalations.

The only pain I feel not having bought Deluxe is I don’t get to meet these “old friends” in-game.

Try and remember not everyone has issues. I don’t know what is “fundamentally broken” about your game but I’ve had zero real issues, just a couple brief server drops.

Let’s say that if you’re a old date hitman fan is worth the escalation are good, the suits amazing and the Bartoli Deluxe romantic.

I need to go play that escalation. I didn’t know it has Hong in it. That’s fun! I did the Dartmoor one first, but it doesn’t have any of the old targets in it. It’s a fun escalation though.

lots of people do. and it’s been almost 4 days since release already. it’s not the usual bugs or even crashes but simple inability to launch it and play it properly. escalations aren’t available offline either, btw

Yes the excalations are amazing and the suits either, but better in H2 2 days early access and 2 new levels so far from this.

I’ve done 2 out of 3 of the escalations and I don’t think they’re anything special, plus the suits/items are too “oddball” for me to ever use.

The only thing I found interesting are the dev commentary, but they’re really short. They’re a 2-3 minute sound clip that plays at the start of the mission. It would have been waaay more interesting if there were hotspots with comments all over the map.

So yeah, I don’t think it’s worth it, but the completionist in me has EVERYTHING, so there’s that.

I’m eager to see what they’ll do with the three escalations, and associated rewards, that we’ve still got coming, so maybe it’s still too early for a definitive poll.
But I’m already in the “yes” camp anyway. The nod to Lee Hong and the H:C47 (rather than Contracts) inspired outfit alone was already worth it for me.

On the whole this Hitman trilogy was quite an expensive game experience though, probably the most expensive I had so far. And that’s without counting the fact I bought an Xbox solely to play Hitman in the very beginning (later the game library expanded), and I’m counting on buying an X Series for maximum enjoyment of Hitman. I don’t even want to calculate how much I spent on it, and much less because of it, in the end. The last iteration felt the most expensive, considering the amount of missions we got in the end, with little hopes for bonus missions.
Yet, not all joy can be expressed in monetary terms, and I have yet to encounter any other game that offers so much replay value as this one.
I don’t regret spending the money I did on this, however much it might be. Have a hard time thinking of things I would’ve better spent it on.

I like the suits and items but that’s about it. Not worth it unless they add bonus missions later, which is highly unlikely. Even if they did I doubt they’ll give it for free even to deluxe players.

Having bought 2016 early to play the beta & the Hitman 2 Gold edition I decided to go standard this time as the physical deluxe edition was sold out.
I’ll wait & see if we get any bonus missions before purchasing an upgrade.

I think Hitman 3 currently seems lacking in terms of side content. I’m sure 2016 & 2 had more escalations at the start if I remember. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Alot of Hitman 2 did not have Escalations, I think maybe one or two. But I think it was on a lot faster roll with roadmaps and a like on release.

Reading this thread has made me so glad that I decided to get the Standard Edition and wait for a sale on the Deluxe upgrade pack. Don’t get me wrong, I want that DE content, but from what I’ve read I’m glad that I didn’t pull the trigger and buy it at launch prices.

H2 launched with no escalations, only additional content was the Austria Sniper Assassin map

I checked on the old forum to make sure my memory was right, old thread here
