It’s all about intention and perception guys and gals. If your intention in getting the Deluxe Edition was to get loads of new contents exclusive skins etc. then I guess it could be a little bit underwhelming for the price. But I got the Deluxe Edition with the sole purpose in mind of supporting the developers after going independent. And although I still have some gripes regarding online always and the connection debacle when everything is going smooth with the server I seem to forget about that and I’m having a blast with the game. So yeah I’m happy with my purchase of the Deluxe Edition because I know IO already made their money back for hitman three and are now raking and profits good for them
In my perception myself and the developers made out good. I was able to fulfill my intention of lining their pockets with gold, and they were able to fulfill their intention of delivering a nice game and getting paid.
i’m agree with Masl, the art book is not a proper artbook. it’s just a collection of screenshots.
it has no value to be honest.
And the (incomplete) soundtrack is mp3 only… in 2021! seriously! hitman 2016 offered WAV files too.
That’s a big downgrade.
I regret taking the deluxe version.
Sad but true. The biggest crime of napster was to lower the expected quality for digital music
Anyway, they really could have made an effort for that price.
They’ve been very good escalations so far, and the soundtrack is nice, but I doubt it ever feels equal to what $30 got us in Hitman 2. I’m fine with it as I like supporting the devs, but on a pure value scale I don’t think it compares at all.
Now that I have played these “deluxe” escalations I can say it’s definitely not worth it. They’re just like the normal escalations we get. I guess the suits are cool, the items were redundant and useless.
The “art” book or whatever it’s called is just brief summary of each map. Nothing that we don’t already know.
Soundtrack … I could find it on youtube for free.
Only way to make it worth it is to include the DLC missions in the pack.
Some took “deluxe escalations” to mean higher quality and expected a level of polish on par with The Mills Reverie (Hawke’s Bay Halloween Escalation). But IO never said anything of the like. They just saw the name and price tag and assumed
Them adding a target to Chongqing’s tramway was more than I expected from an escalation.
These ones are on the higher end of effort but still just escalations. I think most people bought these for the cosmetics or to support the developers who have had a tough time during the trilogy.
You could say that for any release of music. Plenty of deluxe editions contain the soundtracks, it’s nothing new.
You can argue that you didn’t think the deluxe edition was worth its value, I personally agree, but you shouldn’t dismiss the developers for putting out music.
They vary a fair bit in terms of effort. Like the Percival Passage is basically just contracts mode. It’s still a bloody good escalation but still. Whereas I’d say the Romania one actually added some interesting new stuff (new NPCs, changed NPC routes, unique complications)
I don’t get why people would buy something they know next to nothing about, before it’s released, unless it’s to support the developers. Or they know they’d buy it regardless of price anyways (which is more the category I fit into)
