Ask HMF anything

I don’t know if it’s possible, but I’m thinking of seeing if I can make a WiFi toggle via my keyboard. I know some laptops have them…

(((:tokyo_tower:)))

that you can use with a Function Key.

But I’ll be using a desktop keyboard. It still might be doable. There’s a

Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center

Hopefully such a function can be assigned to a key.

Edit: But anyway… Anyone happen to know off-hand how such a thing might be done (if it can)?

I never did such thing, but maybe you can check out this and see if it works.

I did see that… And went ahead and tried it. It seems to work… But I haven’t tested it out while playing Hitman -yet.

I have Ctrl+Alt+Down to shut it down,

and Ctrl+Alt+Up to start it back up.

Edit: It always has a Windows verification/chime, and I have to choose Yes.

Is it easier for you than killing game through Task Manager?

Yes.

Original Post, but something isn't right...

In fact, I was playing this morning (about 14 hours ago) and just had a random disconnect while playing on a takedown mission. It had (as usual)…

  • retry connection
  • return to main menu

If you can return to main menu then you can (I assume) try the mission again. I wasn’t needing to restart so I reconnected.

If you use this method, again, you should have a windows notification screen (and sound - see video below) come up just like when you’re (say) installing an update or new software, or whatever.

Windows 10 System Generic Notification Sound - YouTube

And no having to click on the game to start it back up, which I’d think is much easier on your system by not having to kill and restart programs.

Or maybe it’s not so easy.

I’m not sure what’s different from the day I made those shortcuts, to today. But the shortcut keys I had assigned for those (functions, I guess) weren’t doing anything. I had to get back to my desktop and double-click the shortcuts/icons.

So apparently assigning shortcut keys is pointless.

Has anyone here read any books from Iranian/Persian authors? Interested to see if any of them are rather famous internationally.

I once read a copy of Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi at my cousins place and I have read a few older Persian poems in university but I don’t remember their names.

I have not but Man of my Time is on my short list of things to read next. Not sure that counts as the author was born in Iran but came to the US when she was very young.

It seems like I should know or remember this but…

Is there a safe, story related way to get to the (typically restricted) area of the hospital in Hokkaido? Like how you can when disguised as Jason Portman (with facial bandages) but as “Mr. Reiper” instead?

I know there are lines saying how fit and well “Mr. Reiper” appears to be after an examination. Or does that happen in his (#3) patient suite?

You are remembering a readable that shows the results of a physical that 47 underwent when he first arrived. Laurent notices he is basically “one giant stem cell” and notes that he is physically younger than he looks, you can read it in either one of the clinical rooms or the surgery (I can’t remember).

There is (to my knowledge) no way for 47 to enter the surgery on his own for an appointment since 47 doesn’t require surgery, the ICA cover story stated he was supposed to be there for a routine check-up and recuperative stay at GAMA.

Are those bugs or is it just bugging me?

So, this may be a bit of a dumb question. I moved house a few months ago now, still in the process of unpacking and finding homes for items. The most awkward part of my house is that my staircase is in my living room, so in the living room is this very awkward right angle triangle shape of space underneath the staircase. Space is too small for something like a chair to fit into it, and the space is right next to the doorway to the next room so anything in it can’t be jutting out of the space. Figured the best thing to do is use it for storage.

Ikea is selling this storage unit which would make for a good fit, I’ve measured it and it should fit in. Here’s my dumb question: the space underneath the staircase is about 88cm deep. This shelving unit is 39cm deep. Would it be a good idea to buy 2 of the same shelving unit, and put one at the back of the space, and then the other directly in front of the other? Double the units it should be 78cm deep, and I’ve got a lot of space. I plan to put stuff like my board games in this unit so having it be deep would actually be really useful.

I just don’t know if there is any awkwardness or obvious fact I am missing. You won’t be able to see the units from the sides since it will be under the staircase. Any thoughts?

You mean you intend to “horizontally stack” the 2 shelving units? Effectively making them one that is twice a deep?

It might work, but it would be better if you found someway to get them together as one so they don’t move independently. Your local hardware store should have metal plates with 2 screw holes in them that you could use. You could even just lay one on the floor and use a thin line of gorilla glue on the frame and then place the other on top. Just give it a full day to dry.

Good ideas, I’ll need to think about it. I am hoping that once they’re in place they won’t move about too much, partly due to the weight, and partly due to them being in a tight space. Due to the triangle size of the space, the top line of the units should only have 2-3 centimeters of wiggle room. To be honest, I think what I’m going to do is buy 1 unit, build it, make sure it fits in, then buy the 2nd unit anyway, and then go from there.

Playing Hitman Freelancer is actually funny, you know how you upgrade the safehouse from a bunch of boxes to nice furniture? That is basically what is happening here, currently the space under the staircase is just packed with boxes right about now.

I’m looking for the name of a game, some of you might be able to recognize.

I first played it around 12 years ago but even then, it felt like a classic, so chances are it was released at least a decade before. It was a 2D platformer with the characters being a boy and a girl proceeding through a sort of magical world. It was possible to climb trees and go underground, and change realms iirc. The movement was also bidirectional.

tagging @EvilGeniusRo for obvious reasons.

What platform was it for?

If it was DOS, it could have been this

This doesn’t seem to be the one… It looks similar though. Pretty sure it was Win7. (And the oldest os I can remember using is WinXP :stuck_out_tongue:)

I have a question about 47 and Grey that came to my mind. They are both in their 60s, but they don’t look like that and we can also assume that their health is more like they are in their mid 40s, just like their bodies. Of course, Grey looks older but still not like a man in his 60s.

So I was wondering. Does 47 age slowly? And with thus, can he get older than other people? For example, for normal people it’s an exception to reach an age of 100, but maybe for 47 he could reach that age easily, because for him becoming 100 would be like for us becoming 80 or some sort. Do you know what I mean?

Yep and 47 does seem to age slower, 47’s medical reports at GAMA state that he is physically younger than his immediate appearance and chronological age suggest. In fact the results of his physical show that he is in his 20s physically.

Of course, if The Drop announcement video is any indication, age might be catching up to him a little. Either that or he’s having a few too many twinkies.
