After looking at the Winter roadmap, I’m a little bit disappointed: the content for “day-1 players” is relatively poor.
However, like some of you have said, let’s take the positive:
Permanent return of Christmas contents (HH and HSF). Expected but still a good point. The “all under 1 roof” becomes more and more a reality as time goes by.
Therefore, the number of “unobtainable” items decreases. Santa 47, Sow festival suit and Ice pick will be accessible in December and January.
Among the last items obtainable only through carryover:
Aluminum Travel Briefcase, Black Winter suit, ICA coins would are probably no longer available. There are bonuses from old games and there are a kind of awards for early Hitman Trilogy players.
ET suits (florida fit with gloves, casual tourist with gloves, suburban suit with driving gloves) would probably become available with the onset of Arcade ET planned in 2022. Arcade is probably a way to name permament activation of ET?
Explosive pen ad lil’ flashy would also be part of Undying reactivation.
The absence of ET from H2 can be a hint of the Arcade ET and a way for players to unlock these suits. I would love a permanent activation of ET missions, allowing new players the access to ET suits. It’d allow old and new players a touch on these missions.
Curated contracts: congrats to Urben and Frote7’s community. Looking forward to their selected contracts.
ET reactivation is well disappointed for old players as ET are already done and are not reactivated for players who failed or achieved them. However, for new players, it’s a good start and allows them to taste the “elusivity” before the beginning of Arcade ET.
We’re close to the end-year holidays.
I prefer to consider this roadmap as a kind of break before the Year 2 contents. Clemens in the video confirmed we’ll get some hints about the new content beginning 2022 (probably when IOI is gonna release the new roadmap in February 2022).
It’s actually hilarious how easily impressed some people are. The roadmap could be absolutely bland with nothing new and still they’ll be like wow this is great from IOI. Honestly I’m happy for the batch of contracts we’ll be getting but jesus what is that rest of the roadmap. And this will go on for almost 2 months.
Context Matters. IOI likely knew they needed time to perfect their 2022 content, and so released ET’s that old players may have already played, but newer players may have missed. The whole point of a christmas update is to be in the spirit of giving; this very much fits the theme of that; seven Elusive Targets over two months is a damn good idea.
Get your head out of your bottom blaster, to put it mildly. This roadmap is not a mess, you just don’t like it. such reactions are mutually exclusive. You are free to dislike the roadmap, I myself am a tad sad that most of the content won’t be for me, but that’s not the point of this roadmap; it’s not for me.
Maybe you shouldn’t set your expectations so unrealisticly high. Normally I don’t pay much attention to posts like these but you come across as kinda rude and greedy my friend. Remember that everything on this roadmap is free to you and everyone else. IOI doesn’t have to give you anything but here we are. Please try to be less pessimistic and look at it from the bright site: we have 2 fun little bonus missions back in the game and FCs are picked by two admired community members. That’s great news!
I can’t speak for everyone but, for me, there was nothing to reasonably expect except Holiday Hoarders and Hokkaido Snow Festival, especially after all hullabaloo surrounding Year 2. I’m certainly not praising IOI for the sparse content over the next month and a half, and I don’t think many people actually are, I’m just saving my disappointment for if Year 2 fails to deliver, especially after the hype that IOI themselves have created. However, I will acknowledge that my perspective is not everyone’s perspective. I, for one, have never played the HSF so I’m looking forward to that while someone else who has played it may know it’s just another mediocre Special Assignment just wrapped up in a Christmas bow this time.
I understand feeling disappointed or upset but that’s because of yet another set of expectations that we’ve created for ourselves (admittedly based on what the abysmal state of the modern video game industry has conditioned us to expect). I guess long story short, I feel like feelings of disappointment will be much more justified in response to a very hyped but poorly executed Year 2. Besides, maybe I can let my Xbox finally play other games for a few weeks after I mop up the last few challenges I have to get. If anything, an extended break might be a good palate cleanser for the upcoming year.
Anyway, that’s my two cents. I can sense this thread is probably going to get pretty ugly in a minute. Enjoy the holidays, have a happy new year and see all y’all in Year 2!
They are free, that doesn’t meant they aren’t subject to nitpicking.
My reply failed
"Krikkit2021 I’m certainly not praising IOI for the sparse content over the next month and a half, and I don’t think many people actually are, I’m just saving my disappointment for if Year 2 fails to deliver, especially after the hype that IOI themselves have created. “
Nail on the head. Exactly the same way I feel and glad I’m not alone.
The sad part about that is that if the episodic format of Hitman 2016 worked out, the release structure of Hitman 2 and 3 would likely have been very different (and possibly what IOI actually intended), a few levels (like Hawke’s Bay and Dubai) would have had less of a tutorial feel and all the rereleases (Mills Reverie, Holiday Hoarders, Snow Festival, etc) over the years would probably have been unnecessary (not to mention the carryover and “DLCs” of the previous games between 1 and 2 and 2 and 3).
I’m happy - or, at least, not at all unhappy - enough with the Winter Roadmap. Because I’m a Steam H1/H2 player and my return back to playing the full WoA on Steam again is now within touching distance at last, I’m a little checked-out with HITMAN 3 until I’m back on my preferred platform, so a quiet month-and-a-bit doesn’t bother me too much.
That said, I’m very glad to see the permanent return of HH and HSF: both very welcome and long overdue additions to H3.
Like I think @Krikkit2021 said above, IMO now is not the time to judge HITMAN 3 as we know that substantial changes are on the horizon. The moment to either cast the first stone or (much more likely, I hope) shout IOI’s praises to the rafters will be later in 2022, when we have had a chance to see all the new content that has been promised, and when we have discovered how much/little IOI have done to fix some of the currently-existing known problems with the game (e.g. development of a fully-featured Offline mode, putting Lucas Grey back in the Sgail boat etc).
I’m no IO shill, I just have a sense of appreciation for the fact that they’re giving people who’ve missed ETs a chance to try again, because I came in late for H1 and missed all of them, and considered the first reactivation as a godsend.
Overhyped ET or not, it is still playable content, and I enjoy each official mission that is given to us, and that includes Holiday Hoarders and Winter Snow Festival. They are actual Hitman gameplay, unlike the absolute waste of time, resources, and bytes that escalations and Featured Contracts are, of which we are constantly swarmed in and forced to play in order to obtain the items locked behind them.
The roadmap is great for those who miss the remaining content and for those who didn’t have an opportunity to do the previous H3 ETs, and finishing up year 1 in such a way is very appropriate, as I said, with it being not only holiday season, but also in wrapping up this first year of the end of the trilogy.
Suggesting that such a map is a mess, and that suggesting otherwise is a little crazy, seems to me to be a bit ungrateful and a little arrogant.
I’m glad the winter holiday events are being permanently added.
However, I would have expected IOI to make available the last 3 ET suits (Miami, Santa Fortuna, and Whittleton Creek) before reactivating the H3 Elusive Targets. But I guess it makes sense for all those buying the game during Christmas.
There’s a difference between brutal honestly and coming across as a cynical jerkwad.
I already have. I did a whole video on it, look it up if you’re at all curious. Just because I said It’s…fine, doesn’t mean I immediately think said SA is all bad.
