As a kid I was annoyed at Ape Escape for forcing me to use two sticks. I thought this was a fad that would die off.

I used the old PS1 controller whenever I could.

This reminds me of this old Review of Alien Trilogy, where the reviewer rants about the unplayable control style - while describing exactly the now standard control scheme for basically every 3D Game…

11 year old me knew the graphics would continue to improve but somehow thought the gameplay wouldn’t. I remember playing goldeneye and thinking “this is it.” I somehow didn’t notice there was no voice acting in that game nor did I contemplate that someday the player wouldn’t have to shoot every bad NPC to get through a level :joy:. I was eleven so I give myself a pass.

So you picked your mission statement in 1999 and never let it go. There’s something perversely inspiring about that :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh no, i was totally wrong about the graphics, they are obviously way better today. But I feel like Games were just more fun back then. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I think that’s just nostalgia. I enjoy replaying some of the n64 / ps1 era games, but I also enjoy playing Mario 3 or Super Mario World too. The new games are more fun but 35 year old me will never be able to totally fall in love with a video game the way little kid me could bc my life is different, and there’s a whole bunch of experiences there now for the game to compete with.

Is it nostalgia though? I think that word is thrown around to easily these days. Sure, it terms of tech and figuring things out without a 100 page manual is a godsend with newer games but are also bloated with unnecessary crap, you can look at HITMAN WoA and see what I mean. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

That is subjective. Everyone has a different definition for the word fun in video games.

This for me is not fun.

But this is.

Of course what’s fun is subjective and the word nostalgia is thrown around a lot but I still think that’s why I love the old games.

If someone made a simple side scroller today it just wouldn’t be the hit that Mario was bc we know now that games can be so much more and we expect more. Braid was fantastic but grossed less than 10 million bc people weren’t interested in a side scroller, yet when Mario was released no one thought “oh this is lame that it’s in 2D.”

Duke World Tour was amazing but I have never heard of rage 2. I’ll take your word that Duke is the better FPS, but is it better than the best first person shooters we have now? No, I don’t think it’s better than the latest call of duty game, Doom Eternal, or Rainbow 6 Siege ect. I also don’t think that if both games had been released simultaneously that Duke would stand a chance to the news ones.

Thats just truth though, rage 2 is a good fps wrapped in the shite modern world tropes while duke 3d is a glorious level-based fps.

My phone fell in a rather deep water puddle, I dried it and it worked for a few minutes but then just turned off and never on again. Local repair was not able to do anything, saying the cpu is dead though I think that’s the end of it.

What makes me more upset is that the mischievous store I bought it from back in Iran STILL claims that it’s waterproof, despite the fact that:

Device Name Official IP68 waterproof ratings Dustproof rating
Samsung Galaxy A30 None found None found

I need access to WhatsApp asap, but it won’t open the web version when your phone is offline and if I use another device, all the previous chat history is wiped.

Sorry to hear your phone went in the drink.

If the phone is for sure permanently broken then won’t you lose the chat history anyway when you get a new device?

The reason why I’m not using these messengers.
I prefer always to have access to my data despite any device is unavailable.
I know that is mostly done for security reasons, but that’s ridiculous and greatly inconvenient, especially in situations like yours

Still counts as another device doesn’t it? :stuck_out_tongue:

I have to… School things.

“Security Reasons” that WhatsApp claims for not saving chats is bullshit. I don’t want to open up about how some other messengers are still secure AND data keeper., The recent privacy policy change says enough that “Security” is not WhatsApp’s concern.

In continue of the bad events, the laptop model I chose is unavailable so they suggested an alter, and my Covid test result was positive. First the bike, then phone and now these, Damn what a great month.

It’s not unfortunately, my throat is burning af and I get dizzy while standing. It all started suddenly this morning though I’m amazed how fast the condition can change.
