Booze, music, narcotics, sex, gambling… @lukefsje of the 1700s or the 1300s would probably have found something fun to do.
Yeah, pray to god he doesn’t have the plague.
I’ve had a deep inner-eyelid stye that’s been present for months, and I just noticed yesterday that sometime recently it clearly drained itself out and went away. Rejoice. This is kind of minuscule and dumb but I felt compelled to share with someone.
If possible I’d try to get an appointment with a dentist. They can check if it has any risk of infection or decay. When I was a teenager during gym class I had a small chip in one of my front teeth. Luckily it never developed into a problem. Hopefully it will be the same case for you.
Dental plan! Lisa needs braces.
Did it really, though?
Do you not remember the Golden Age of Macromedia Flash?
No. I do remember crappy websites, annoying ads, slow load times, and lots of stupid people - some from mere ignorance, some from actual malice - being everywhere. Aside from the slow load times, don’t think there’s been that much change, when looking at it as a whole. M
Then again, I barely remember the era of Nintendo Wii, so who can how accurate my recollection is.
I remember when the Internet was pretty much just text and “font magic” was about as fancy as it got.
Its all been downhill since people stopped using Clip Art.
Exactly my point, man.
It’s easier to find good music within niche sub genres, and sites like Bandcamp put more power in the artists’ hands.
It’s easier to find tutorials or explanations about any kind of hobby you have or project you are undertaking.
It’s also easier to find guides and walkthroughs for games. Imagine some of these [redacted] challenges without the internet! Anyone else old enough to remember physical game manuals? You ever try beating Myst without a guide? Hah, nobody’s that smart.
But on the other hand… more Nazis. So basically the internet’s value has balanced out.
I will always be optimistic about the Internet. If you notice people are awful, the Internet probably just makes them visible and you learn there needs to be something done.
Dunno what though, it did not really improve it seems. Still, you can find well moderated places aside from big sites where the monetary interests is not the main priority. I hope yall come here because you like it here.
I’m more cynical. Anonymity, including the pressures of views and popularity, can influence people to act in ways they normally wouldn’t.
The eclipse has started here in New York!
We will get a max coverage of 89% around 3:30pm.
I am at work but I can easily step outside and there is a pretty good view from the street.
Pretty cool!
I think 2:09 in chicago is “prime time” so that’s in about 45 min. I can’t wait.
You guys are lucky, next partial one in Romania will be in 2027 and total eclipse in 2081. See ya’ll then
Still have these in my collection
The radio station at my work decided to celebrate the eclipse by first playing Total Eclipse of the Heart, and then Blinded By the Light. I couldn’t stop laughing.
