What Videogame(s) Are You Playing?

Shame the game was tied to the Assassins Creed IP. The naval portion of the game and exploration are the only redeeming parts of the game. Everything else is just bad. Combat is less polished than it was in AC3, present time portion of the game was just horrendous, 90% of missions are tailing missions and there’s even a tailing mission involving the ship.

Clearly not an AC fan. Everything you mentioned contribute to the enjoyability of the game. I would argue also that the combat is better than in AC3, which was where combat dropped from the previous entry.

Excuse moi?

So by pointing all the issues with the game, it can be deduced that I don’t like the series? Damn, then in that case I really don’t like any series at all, including Hitman

I swear that you must be the first person that said that all those tailing missions were enjoyable

I am guilty of often generalizing. I’m working on it.

While I’ve found a few things here and there that I could do without in AC, overall, I’ve loved virtually everything it’s sent my way. The trailing missions, the treasure hunts, the present day sections, and most of all, the story. Hell, the most annoying thing for me is how people say it should ditch the present day sections and the animus altogether, and I’m like, NO! The animus, and the present day section that utilizes it, is what makes the whole thing so fascinating in the first place! It’s one of the most brilliant framing devices ever conceived.

Don’t get me wrong, I liked the present day sections but only up to AC3. From Black Flag onward it wasn’t that great, for me at least. It was again great starting with Origins :stuck_out_tongue:
As for the combat, I didn’t say it was better than AC3, just unpolished. It was a mess when fighting in crowded areas such as after boarding ships.

Yep, the exploration was fun since those involved tons of sneaking about not to mention visiting exotic locales such as islands and caves that could be accessed only from underwater :slightly_smiling_face:

Oh absolutely, can´t argue about the tailing missions. Those definitely overstayed their welcome quickly, and the one(s) involving the ship are just ridiculous. Haven´t played AC3 yet to judge the combat, though I definitely found it less refined and enjoyable than in the Ezio games. As for the present time portion, well, I didn´t mind it all that much tbh (I found it a lot worse in Rogue). Not great, not terrible, and the end twist was pretty neat. The whole present day timeline kind of lost its purpose after Desmond I guess.

Yet, all these (and other) downisdes were so overshadowed by the naval portion and exploration that I didn´t even mind them in the end. The game just scratches that adventure itch perfectly. And I actually liked the way they fit it into the AC universe.

It’s still simplistic as it was in the Ezio trilogy but what makes the combat in AC3 so much fun are the animations. You get much more feedback from each swing / hit thanks to them.

I disliked how they made it harder to counter, and how without countering, it takes about 20 slashes and stabs for a sword to kill a regular nook. One of the few things I dislike about 3 and 4.

@Freezer I finished Persona 3 Portable. I liked most of it, I loved certain parts of it, and my hatred of Tartarus kept growing. But dear god, that ending… I even had been spoilt on part of it, but the ending is pitch perfect. Gameplay wise, Persona 5 and 4 are still alot higher for me. And honestly, overall, I’d probably say plot, characters, and social links as well. But Persona 3 definetly has some real highs. I feel so empty now that I have finished it. Wish I knew someone in real life who had played it just so I could ramble on my feelings about it all of it.

May quickly see what New Game + is like with the female MC. Also thinking of starting Persona 2. We shall see.

Also playing Gran Turismo 7. Slowly making progress. Good to hear in terms of news that it seems we should get better paying races like endurance races, hopefully will make grinding a little easier.

It’s funny because I feel like Persona 4 did everything worse than P3P except I do kind of like moving around the town and not being a circle.

I know I’m the minority here, I liked Tartarus and hated the dungeons in Persona 4. I hate the characters in Persona 4 and like the ones in 3. I hate the social links in 4 but like them in 3. And I enjoy the combat more in 3P than 4.

But I’ve learnt over the last decade I’m wrong and alone in this. I just think P4 is a bad game and P3 is the same game but good, and 1 and 2 are good on their own right. Honestly have no interest in 5 just because of 4.

In all fairness, I like the party members of P3, P4, and P5 almost equally. Like when you get halfway into the game and the cast begins to really gell with each other, I think it works really well. I’m a bit mixed on the way the plot progresses. Think the first 2-3 chapters are a bit slow. I think from the love hotel dungeon to the defeat of the 12th shadow and the chairman’s betrayal, the game’s plot is really excellent and gripping. Think it sortof fumbles around after it. Like, I understand what they were trying to go for, but it does feel like momentum is lost and only really picks up again in the final month.

Think it is a shame that the male characters don’t get social links, and you have to wait so long until you’re allowed to do the female party’s social links. (C’mon, what does Junpei do in his spare time that is better than hanging out with me?) Some of the social links are interesting, whilst some aren’t. They feel a bit shorter than the ones from P4 and P5, a bit simpler, which isn’t neccesarily bad. The only awful one is, ofcourse, The Gourmet King’s, so much so that it almost loops around to being entertaingly awful.

I think my issue with Tartarus is that randomized dungeons just feel like filler to me. I never feel like I’m ever achieving anything. I didn’t really like the dungeons in P4 either but at least there is always a clear end goal to each one, rather than just arbitary stops. Even Mementos in P5 is something I didn’t really like, which ofcourse does have a number of similarities with Tartarus. But saying that, I don’t think I’ve ever played a roguelike I’ve liked either.

It’s funny you say you have no interested in P5 because of P4. Because I would say while P5 probably takes the most influence from P4, I would say there is a lot of P3’s DNA in P5 as well, even if P5 is obviously less dark than that game.

I’m gonna say something very controversial and it might get flagged, but Assassins Creed Unity is one of the best games in the series and has some really good multiplayer coop.

Haven’t played it yet, but I’m working my way there and very eager.

I also enjoyed Unity though I played it long after it got all the patches. I enjoyed the new free running mechanics and finally most of the missions were designed in such a way that you could ghost most of them. The detective missions were also great.
Worst part about it was the plot, most of the main characters being dull, same with Arno as soon as he became an assassin. Oh and that map filled with so many icons that would surely cause anyone a panic attack.

Combat dragged a bit too long, especially when using swords. Felt like using a butterknife most of the time. Ended up using a spear :vampire:

And yes… I did collect everything…

Ah, I see. It does look quite enjoyable from the looks of the video! I´ll eventually get around to playing it some time in the future, though it will probably still take a while (unless I feel the sudden urge to play something set during the American revolution, which is unlikely…).

I´ve read quite a bit of praise regarding Unity´s parkour/movement and stealth, so I´m quite curious about it. The terrible state at launch really hurt its reputation down the line.

And that’s just 1 district. There are 7 in total :skull:

What’s worse is that I binge-played all AC games I had at that time, from first up to Unity and pretty completed almost everything there was to complete, including collectibles…

So I accidentally got my dad a lot of achievements when I played Hitman 3 while we were both logged in on his Xbox. Keep in mind I was playing on my account at the time. This is a strange bug for sure but it’s funny.

So basically a bug exists on Xbox where it will unlock the achievements on someone else’s profile if someone else has it unlocked already on a different profile.

Wait, are you saying you actually collected the flags in AC1?? … :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

How many times did the game break before it let you get all them?
