I have been playing Void Bastards on my PS4 lately and I am really loving it. It’s a tactical shooter set aboard ships in space with a nice cell shaded graphics and cartoon looks. The missions are risk reward affairs and if you get greedy you will die. When planning the next mission you have to take into account many factors like your fuel food situation, the type of the spaceship, the enemies on board, special condition like hazards on board, you character abilities, etc… I am surprised it isn’t a more popular game because it’s really fun.
Still playing Forbidden West, tomorrow I am going to be mopping up as much as possible since I finished but I will say…
If I had a ten cent piece every time a criminal mastermind voiced by Carrie-Anne Moss forced a ginger sci-fi heroine to be her sidekick and conscious voice-of-reason as I save the world from killer robots I would have two ten cent pieces which isn’t a lot but it is odd that it has happened twice.
Oh yeah, the game is good, a drastic improvement over the first and I dare say the next one will be a masterpiece.
@YellowZR1 How you getting on with GT7? I am really enjoying the game, but at the same time, it’s not the kind of game I can really do tons of hours in one sitting. So my progress is pretty slow, just doing the cafe requests so I can get all the tracks unlocked. Those roulette tickets have been a mixed bag. I think I’ve done like 20 of them so far, and I reckon of those 20, 15 was the lowest cash prize, whereas one gave me 500,000 credits and another gave me an invite to buy one of the two Pagani cars in the showroom for 1,350,000 credits. So I want to see if I am able to scrounge up the cash to get the car before the invite expires in 10 days.
Still, great game, I definetly want to try and make it a bit of a long term game, even if it is just for a short play session most days. But I do still yearn for the comeback of proper arcade style racers like Burnout…
Also playing Persona 3 Portable, feel like I’m slowly getting more invested in the story now, but still really not liking Tartarus. Not much else to say, at the very least I’m level 25 now and it feels like I’m not so underpowered now but still, the trips to Tartarus just make the game grind to a halt for me.
I am glad you asked. Otherwise, I probably paid too much attention to the game and forgot to post about it.
In terms of my progression, I haven’t completed all menu books, but I am almost done with them. I did manage to get gold on both national A and B licenses. I’ve completed all Music Rally events as well. So progression wise, I think it is pretty decent. There’s still plenty of stuff to complete even after finishing all café requests.
Oh boy, the roulette tickets though, I don’t blame others saying they’re rigged af as I read comments from other forum sites. And funny that you mentioned the half mil reward, since I only just got it yesterday with a 6-star ticket via daily workout. It’s a huge sum of money, but I also missed out the Dodge VGT car and other performance upgrades too. I won 2 extra cars and an engine swap option with these tickets, but otherwise it’s usually the smallest amount of credits like 5,000. Gacha/lootbox gotta do what they always do, I guess!
The time-limited invitation of buying high-end cars and limited supply from classic car dealer, to me, both seem to be a tactic to convince players to buy credits with microtransactions. I was given an invitation of buying a Bugatti Veyron, but I simply don’t have the money to buy it. These expansive cars aren’t essential to progress the game, plus the fact I’ve got plenty cars with menu books. So for now, I think I will stay away from buying any car, unless they are required to gain access to certain race events.
Well in the end, I think I can play GT7 for a pretty long period too. Polyphony also promised there will be more content added with future updates. And that’s fantastic!
I guess we can only wish. Only in this year that Criterion is in charge of releasing a new NFS title after supporting DICE for BF2042. So if it ever returns, it’s unlikely to be soon.
But sometimes I miss games like Burnout as well. Not just for its brutal takedowns and magnificent crash effects, but with its easy-to-play, arcadey mechanism. When most games on the market are about building your characters, skill trees, customizations and what not, Burnout really stands out with it allowing you to simply enter a race and have fun causing havoc. Simplicity at best. It’s indeed a tragedy that we haven’t seen a new entry for so long since.
Any idea how many menu books there are? I think I’m on number 27 or 28. Again, my progress is rather slow. I haven’t unlocked all the tracks yet. I have done 49 of the 50 licence tests, literally stuck on the final test for the Super Licence. Got all Gold on NB, 7 out of 10 Gold on NA. After that, just scraping by on bronzes.
Yeah, it does scream of F2P antics when combined with being able to buy in-game currency with microtransactions. I guess my question does boil down to how quickly you can grind for currency once you get your hands on some of the grade rated cars. I’ve seen alot of cars for 7 figures but few go into 8 figures. Getting every car in the game will be a feat but it doesn’t seem like it should be too hard to get a specific car you like, I guess unless it is locked behind an invite and you struggle to get the invite to begin with…
There are 39 books to be completed. So you’re getting close to complete all of them. I only just finished #33.
Damn S-10 sounds like quite a hard challenge! These tests are indeed harder than GT Sport’s license tests. I’ve tried so many times on NA-9, the NSX hairpin test, and I only just hit the 0.100 mark to get gold. By the way, do you play with a controller or a racing wheel? I play the game with my good old Duelshock 4, so I just rely on my ‘trigger fingers’ to pass these tests.
And with some good RNG too. Invitations only give you access to certain high-end modern supercars. Cars that are made before 2000 can only be found in dealers. The normal one seems fine as it has more slots to sell low-end cars and is refreshed every day. I’d imagine the real struggle comes from the antique dealer, where it only sells 5 cars at once, resupplies with new cars only when a model is sold out, and has dynamic pricing mechanism.
In the end, collecting all 424 cars is theoretically possible. But it will just take a lot of money, time, and luck. Kind of like real life car collecting, I suppose.
Yeah I think NA-9 is one I still only have a silver on. Can’t quite get gold on it, as well as NA-4 (I think, the one on Tokyo Expressway), which I failed the Gold by one hundreth of a second, and NA-10.
I should probably note that I did start the game just using automatic gears, but have switched to using manual gears. Judging by some of the later licences, it wouldn’t surprise me if that is borderline mandatory to be able to achieve the Gold times, but perhaps I’m wrong. I am still using the racing lines and brake zones on the tracks to help learn but want to turn them off eventually, I want to have a shot at the online at some point. See if I can get from Rank E to Rank D.
I’m on the PS5 so I’m using the DualSense controller. I would like to buy a racing wheel at some point, as well as a flight stick in the future, but just don’t have the cash to be able to purchase those kind of perphirerals, especially since I’d probably want to get decent quality ones rather than cheaps one which I can hear can be a bit nasty.
Pretty much I think. It definetly requires commitment. Again, my big question is how quickly can you grind for credits once you have access to good enough cars to enter the highest races.
Yeah, it’s definitely better to use manual gears, just so that you can decide when to shift and maintain speed on your own. Thankfully the HUD is helpful that it flashes when you reach the redline and need to change to higher gear, and it indicates which gear to shift down for each corner.
I think you can keep the visual assists on as you want, but I definitely recommend you to turn off some driving assistances. For instances, I turn my traction control to just 1, and have my ABS set to weak. Cars may be harder to control or maintain speed, but I think it helps me to become more careful and overall improve my driving. Oh and most importantly, disable auto reset function that happens when going off the track, so you can cut some corners, like the first chicane in Monza, without being penalized. (Just don’t do it when you’re in an online sports mode race, though.)
Good for you! I didn’t play online at all back when I was on GT Sport. But I think I will eventually play it too, once I am done with everything that singleplayer has to offer.
Oh well if you don’t mind spoilers (no, not the ones you can install from GT Auto ), here’s an article of the current best moneymaking method. For the fastest one, you will unlock the track and the event later along with a menu book request. So far I won’t bother to grind it for extra credits.
I know kung fu.

i saw that! modders are having a field day with sifu. love it!
I had been thinking about buying Cuphead for a long time and finally did it, even though there was no Steam Sale. The devs certainly deserve their money because I know the amount of work they put into the game. On the other hand I don’t feel like I’ll get that many playing hours out of it. Yeah, maybe it’s a humble brag but the only achievement I have left is “Pacifist” and I’ve yet to reach 10 hours playtime. I only have a couple of bosses S-ranked, so that would be the ultimate goal if I feel like grinding. No matter how many more hours I’ll get from it, I’ll definitely buy the upcoming DLC too because the game just is that beautiful and fun.
I’ve been having a lot of fun with The Last Cube. It’s one of the better indie puzzle games I’ve played. You play as a cube, rolling around and affixing stickers to your faces and using their powers to solve a series of puzzles.
I finished up the main game yesterday, but there are bits of cheesy-but-fun hidden Cube lore to find, some much harder bonus levels and an optional challenge to complete for each regular level. (Naturally, I hate the timed ones–especially because there’s very little grace period–but the ones that limit the number of steps you can take or the number of times you can perform a certain action really make you stop and think about the most efficient way to get through an area.)
It’s definitely worth checking out if you like puzzle games. (Plus, it’s only $20. Which is why my cheap ass didn’t bother waiting for it to go on sale. )
Been playing KOTOR on my Switch and I found this little menu.
A little developer menu added in by aspyr for the Switch Release that is activated by pressing down on the left stick three times. I love these type of things since it lets me experiment with the game.
So, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is one of the PS Plus games of this month. (Its the free multiplayer addition to GoT, also released standalone)
I’m trying a bit of it now, and… I’m stunned there aren’t any microtransactions or time-savers unlockable, even in this standalone version. Every piece of gear and cosmetics are earned through post-game drops or specific challenges.
No nickel-and-diming predatory tactics! For a FREE multiplayer expansion! That’s insane!
Imagine a world where every AAA Game is like this
So I was thinking I really don’t have any space games in my Steam library. Well, there’s Hardspace: Shipbreaker. But that’s a very passive game. So I looked… and ended up getting Everspace since it was 80% off!
It seems pretty fun so far. I’m getting killed a good amount. But you always get sent back to spend any credits you’ve obtained for upgrades. Looks like there is a lot of stuff to get and improve, even (at least) 2 other ships to buy, and I’m sure they’ll have their own upgrades too. You can even find new equipment in space (usually after a fight) and either equip it or salvage it (or salvage whichever item you replaced). There are even times when multiple ships will start attacking you. I don’t know if I’m expected to try to fight, or leave. Not that I’ve been able to escape any big fights like these… yet.
yeah, legends is a lot of fun.
goddamn, say what you want, but that sony money makes developers actually respect their players
I will say that you ought to look at the latest Gran Turismo game before saying something to that effect.
It’s surprising to me in that its been known for a while that Sony’s been looking for a big, premier multiplayer title that can rake in lots of dollars. (Current rumor is the Last of Us 2 multiplayer expansion might be targeting that – could even be free to play)
But… wow… somehow no one at Sucker Punch decided to get some side-cash from it, and Sony didn’t try to force or manage to convince them to add any in.
Now thats some impressive Direction.
