Interestingly, Yes, I can watch something like Who Framed Roger Rabbit (and Bed Knobs and Broomsticks and Mary Poppins) without any issue. As I said though, it’s entirely illogical. Something like Avatar doesn’t really bother me either (and that’s just as animated as a literal cartoon).
What about Cool World? (not at all a gotcha question)
Never seen that one.
Consider yourself lucky. One of Brad Pitt’s earlier works and it’s basically the Oldsmobile Delta 88 of live action/animated hybrid movies.
Hey now, I used to drive an Oldsmobile Delta 88 (and it was an '88 88 at that!). Point taken though.
Just… fucking shoot me.
What about stop-motion, ala Anomalisa?
Dexter without MCH makes me want to gag. However, Clyde Phillips returning as the showrunner is promising. If he wasn’t, I would have skipped on this without a second thought, but I’ll go into this with low expectations and hope for the best. Despite some negative comments that I posted at the time or airing, I thought that New Blood was actually really great and offered a more mature, nuanced look at the story than we had seen before in many ways. So if Clyde can tackle a prequel with the same kind of tact and energy, than I’ll at least give it a chance.
Not sure. I haven’t tried to watch anything stop-motion in a long time.
Just saw this really tense and emotional two-parter of Doctor Who.
This actor, Harry Lloyd, plays SUCH A GOOD alien villain!
He never blinks, always wide-eyed and had such a crooked smile…
Dude looks like he’s taking a page from Skarsgard’s Pennywise.
Skarsgard would’ve actually taken a page from his! These episodes came out a decade earlier than IT!
Ah. Well then, that could very well be the case.
Well tonight House of the Dragon Season 2 premiered. Generally a really solid start to the season, and gives some nice builds for characters too. The production value’s amazing on the show, even better than Season 1. I like the new tapestry opening more than the bloodline one from last season, and the soundtrack is good as always. The sets are miles above the ones they made for Game of Thrones, and properly give the sense of “Medieval land on steroids” that Westeros is built on.
Major respect to the showrunners for having the balls to have a super shocking scene to end the first episode of the season. However, the scene was quite a bit more fucked up in the books. It’s one of the Black side’s darkest moments, and yet they did soften it a good bit. That, combined with the Cole mining in the episode, makes me wonder why they played up to the Black vs Green marketing when they’re still biased toward the Blacks. But who knows, mayhaps Episode 2 will be pro-Green.
Not bad. Can’t say I’m loving Two-Face’s look, or who I assume to be Catwoman’s, but the rest looks pretty neat.
But… why is Harley Quinn there already? Good grief people, Harley is at her best when she’s just The Joker’s henchwoman with an unrequited crush on him. Don’t put her in a spotlight, at least not so soon. She’s utterly boring when not in her original role.
Not a fan of batmans mask, but hey it’s made by the producers of BTAS, which is to this day the best iteration of Batman. I’ll give it a try.
Finished up the new series of Doctor Who. It was good, better than it’s been in a while…but in kind of an unremarkable sort of way. It all felt so…familiar. Likeable enthusiastic Time Lord travels with blandly likeable female companion with a mysterious past. Timey-wimey stuff ensues.
“73 Yards”, though, was fantastic. Maybe the best episode of Who since “Blink”.
