TV Show Discussion Thread

Watched the last few episodes of Bluey and the new 28 minute special, The Sign. The last few episodes are very good, Cricket and Dragon are two new favourites of mine. As for The Sign, this was really very good. I’d love more specials if all of them were this good. They’ve confirmed Season 4 will be happening which is great news.

We started Amazon’s Fallout show with the first episode and quite enjoyed it!

Definitely wayyy more gory than any of us expected. But it’s got really good production design, acting, noteworthy actors and a very intriguing world based on the games.
Just… yeah, jeeeez, this show has too good of a special effects & makeup team… Every single slash, shot, and stab by something had me recoiling in pain and fear, as well as the gory aftermaths that may follow. Damn.
Ella Purnell was the main draw here, as she played Jackie on the show Yellowjackets which we greatly enjoyed. (And I loved her in Arcane from netflix)

The 50’s retrofuturism is basically the only thing from the games I know about, so it was cool to see a glimpse of that with the intro, and it continuing for a fairly long time with the Vault Dwellers when they flash forward from there.

The characters have a kind of goofy optimism about them – at least in the Vault – that shows how strangely blasé everyone is about having to procreate with cousins after being trapped in the same place for generations upon generations, as well as some underlying Corporate-Worship with everything being funded and designed by the Vault Tec company where they live (and boyyy did they love making nuclear-based names for their products wow)

Of course, it can’t last, and our main character has to face the outside world abandoned by humans so long ago (but not all).

I was very surprised though by the twist that during some marriage-procreation ceremony with another Vault, it turns out everyone had been murdered and replaced with people from the outside who somehow broke in! Damn! (Although in hindsight there was a really great tell, where everyone from 32 seemed to have horribly unkempt hair)

Also really enjoyed the story of Maximus, who is a part of the Brotherhood of Steel. Military-like men who somehow live somewhere on the surface, and have a very Knight-like order to them. Very cool.
Also, he has a best friend who I think is a man, or maybe a trans man? It’s not entirely confirmed, but he clearly has a very different build to nearly everyone else there, despite everyone being strictly male, as far as I could tell.
Anyway, interesting! Cool!

Then, seeing Walton Goggins as The Ghoul was pretty cool. It was just a very brief introduction, but there’s some great VFX going on with his no-nose, and I like the intrigue of his status as some undead/immortal mutant.
Also there was a chicken in that scene, which he didn’t kill, so, 10/10.

Anyway, Fallout! Excited to get into it more, and I’m sure might get me interested in the games, at least F4, the most recent good one that’s mainly single-player… Hehe just like everyone else, because Fallout has had a massive resurgence in sales due to this show.

Oh yeah, and some great actors appearing in this that’s good to recognise!
Zach Cherry, Leslie Uggams, Michael Cristofer (wooo he’s so good at being menacing!), and in the Next Time On… they got Matt Berry too?! HELL YEAH. Can’t wait.

As I completed the Fallout series a couple of days ago, yeah, it’s a blast literally a blast, looking forward for a 2nd season.

One stupid thing that annoys me:

When Norm enters Vault 31 and finds out the truth about his valuts’ whole existence, he does not kill Bud, at all, I mean… did you really wanted him to go on with his bullshit? He really didn’t deserved to get locked but damn that was a dumb move, I hope they make the right choice and free him some way in S2

“in hindsight there was a really great tell, where everyone from 32 seemed to have horribly unkempt hair”

That is a good spot, i called it as soon as i saw the husband’s stich up on his back ad well as the just genuine dirty attitude they showed in the dining scene.
I’m on Episode 7 as of now and it is just sublime, I’m a huge fan of the Fallout Series so seeing all the little details and references to other games is amazing.

I am sure I am totally alone with this one here, but I just watched the first part from season 3 of Bridgerton and it was so good :face_holding_back_tears: I don’t know if it’s even necessary to set spoilers but here they are

I loved the carriage scene! It was passionate and sweet to finally see Penelope and Colin together :face_holding_back_tears:

And I can’t wait to see what happens with the other characters. Especially Lord Debling. He’s a real gem and it’s hard not to like him. On the contrary, I’ve found his role refreshingly enjoyable so far and I can’t wait to see what happens with him next.

However, after this romantic cliffhanger, I’m a bit worried about the second part when Colin finds out that Penelope is Lady Whistledown. Damn, another month to wait :sob:

X-Men '97 is better than it has any right to be. It’s the best thing Marvel’s put out in years. Maybe decades.

I know, and there’s no offense taken. It’s a personal hang-up of mine. I have never liked animation, even when I was a kid.

I think youre a decent guy, but this is honestly the most appropriate time for this meme I’ll ever have the opportunity to use in my life…

How the heck do you “not like” animation? What’s so unlikeable about it, how many different styles have you not liked?

And it’s made on animation

I really don’t know how many styles I’ve not liked over the past half century. I didn’t like He-Man. Didn’t like Duck Tales. Didn’t like Naruto. Didn’t like Fantasia. Didn’t like Bugs Bunny. Didn’t like Dragonball. Didn’t like pretty much any animated show I’ve ever seen. I don’t know why and I completely admit it’s illogical. People like what they like and don’t like what they don’t like.

I also don’t like comic books. I’ve watched the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but I knew none of the backstory going into it. I liked the Fox X-men movies (most of them at least) but I had none of the comic or animated show background to any of it. I did manage to watch most of the Star Wars Rebels show but that was primarily by letting it play on one monitor while I did something else on another one like play a game or something.

Here’s the real question: What about Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Does the live action make it watchable or does the animation ruin it?
