nice one. it’d keep my weight down and allow me to keep my bow if i could switch to two-handed quickly, but not the end of the world. better get practicing.

i’m all about the way of the weeb. i have a katana only character for every souls, so i was stoked to find out about the samurai class.

the true endgame.

i’ve got the raptor cloak which, apart from looking hoonta awesome, increases jump attack dmg. i’m gonna test whether the jump attack talisman stacks so i can make the most out of raptor of the mists.

i have two uchis (one with blood/bloody slash, one with keen/raptor of the mists) and the nagakiba/washing pole (with keen/bloodhound’s step). i’m gonna see if someone will trade their nagakiba; it’s not quite as strong as the uchi but that extra range will be worth it, especially in pvp. being able to switch to raptor of the mists on the fly is going to be sweet.

did another fight that shows how cool bloodhound’s step would be in the hands of a better player

I just locked myself in volcano manor for 2 hours via the iron virgin at the bottom of the waterwheel in raya lucaria academy.

What an amazing experience, it was like a microcasm of everything i like about elden ring.

You find yourself in a new area, you explore
you die a bunch and find new pathways and bosses
you strategize and find the best routes after exploring everything thoroughly
you beat a difficult boss and can now explore more
Or in my case, beating the big chungus godskin apostle let me teleport out of volcano manor and letting me explore more.

What an experience, goddamn

There’s actually something about Volcano Manor you seemingly missed based on that description, so maybe best to unspoiler this when you get a little further: there’s an alternate route out only reachable from the spot the abductor teleports you to. following it leads through an extra cave and most importantly, a route outside to the open world zone beyond Liurnia as a sequence break option

Me personally, I actually missed (nearly) all of Volcano Manor, until the post-game when I finally figured out how to get inside. It’s crazy how much of Elden Ring’s content is optional, IIRC even on a glitchless playthrough you only need to beat something like 10 bosses.

I shouldve made it more clear, i did find the alternate route with the abductor virgins bossfight, the route there was just a lot longer and more tedious than my route to the big chungus godskin apostle so in the end i decided killing him was the better choice, though i do hope i get my revenge on the abductor virgins, even if theyre just two buffed enemies

i can’t work out how to get to volcano manor. i have an invite but the two routes i’ve tried are dead ends. any subtle hints?

ya see, theres an unintended way to get in, in raya lucaria there’s this special virgin abductor who got the ability to teleport y’know. Now uh I could say where she resides but i forget, all that warping between signs of grace made my grey stuff all mushy. I think she likes waterwheels though

i know the waterwheel! thank you

Subtle hint: Try acceptance, and then visions of progress!

I’ll spoilertext the exact methods:

Method 1 (early intended method): Like Khakiasp says, there’s a virgin abductor in Raya Lucaria who will teleport you on death. To find it you need to ride the giant waterwheel thing down to the bottom with a big set of crystals. Do bear in mind you still drop Runes so it might be worth using a sacrificial twig or something

Method 2 (later intended method): Either get an invite to volcano manor through an NPC questline to be teleported there, or invite yourself to its front door. Once you’re inside, you have access to the Volcano Manor questline and a bundle of NPCs that have their own sidequests within it if you want to engage with that. Bear in mind that killing the endboss of the dungeon ends most of these questlines. There is a hidden route to the Legacy Dungeon from there

Solutions for method 2 is: when entering the main corridor, use the first door to the right, there is an illusory wall hidden in that room which you can roll into to reveal

Alternate solution for method 2 is: Consider accepting the Volcano Manor’s quests. You will get a hint on how to access the Legacy Dungeon partway through, and an optional warp across a chunk of the dungeon if you complete the whole thing, plus some NPC sidequests. Though it’s understandable if you don’t on a main playthrough, you should try it in NG+ or alternate character should you try them

@Lexilogo i got the invite, but nothing happened from there. do i have to do anything more…?

I only read that obtaining the physical invite was a teleport- I reached the mansion by just riding there in my playthrough. Maybe that information was bogus or the circumstances of the invite were different? Or you have to talk to the NPC who gave it to you a second time? I got informally “invited” with no accompanying letter, by Patches. Anyway, you can physically reach the manor and get in the front entrance if the “get kidnapped” solution is not appealing.

thanks, lexilogo. what’s the route? i’m scuppered by a whacking great cliff face and a broken bridge

West of the Atlus Plateau. You can either work through the north of the plateau to drive straight through the mountains, or wind through the ravines scaling it in a spiral

@Lexilogo @Khakiasp thank you both for the tips. i’ll let you know how it goes!

i hope it goes well for ya. small tip: lava isnt as dangerous as it looks and with a proper healthbar you can just walk through it. which may or may not help with exploration and finding secrets

Stuck on a Quest, need help:
Does anyone know how to get “Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone” from the “The Towering Sister” in “Apostate Derelict” ?

I am not able to summon “Latenna” on “Mountaintops of the Giants - East”.
I killed “Albus” accidentally after receiving the Medallion.

I didn’t complete that quest personally on my playthrough, so this advice may not be 100% accurate, but I would guess the quest is bungled?

You didn’t mention finding Latenna in Liurnia of the Lakes and that’s a necessary step in the questline. If you advance too far in the game before recruiting her, she will die.

If you did recruit her, you can summon her as Spirit Ashes. To complete her quest you need to summon her in the Apostate Derelict, in the Consecrated Snowfield.

Thankfully, Latenna’s quest is not particularly in depth and you don’t lose out on any unique items for the playthrough. You will lose out on one opportunity to get a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone, but the only unique item from the quest, her Spirit Ashes, can be gotten from her, living or dead.

this was the clincher. i’d run away from a magma wyrm earlier cos i couldn’t fight it on lava… :man_facepalming:t4:

bloodhound’s step is even better :slightly_smiling_face:

fun fact: if you run out of fp with bhs, you still do a quickstep move, albeit without the iframes (or at least markedly less). you can still cover distance and even duck under some attacks due to the awesomely accurate hit boxes, you just can’t dodge into attacks. recovery seems slower too.

Two of my trusted Spirit Ashes I invested for upgrade turned successful for me - any type of boss:

Hi Agents, I wanted to share two Spirit Ashes which I upgraded to +10 using the last rare Gloveworts and used only them to beat almost all bosses/demigods.

Firstly I would mention there are two types of Sprit Ashes-

Grave:
They are like zombies and does not teleports rather focuses enemies on a part of area while you attack at long range (Eg. Godrick the Grafted)

Ghost:
They are like ghosts and teleports along with you and can be used for short range attacks especially for bosses you need to reach far away (Eg. Astel - Naturalborn of the Void)

My trusted Spirit Ashes are (which can be found early by defeating at least one catacomb boss):

Marionette Soldier (Grave):
This enemy really irritates me with harassing fire rates 2 x 2 = 4 hands.
So I thought of using this to irritate bosses and I attach from long range as any enemy is stuck/staggered in that position.
ms

Lhutel the Headless (Ghost):
This spirit is a strong one and can be obtained by defeating a boss fighting alongside you - especially back thrust attacks and is a legendary summon. Sometime he does the job of defeating a boss while I just sit and relax.
lh

  • Both the bosses has ranged attacks for areal bosses.

Thought of sharing this with you all if you wish to utilize your summons.

Feel free to share which summon you like…
