directed by the lead designer of sekiro, no less. i wasn’t particularly interested before, but sekiro is handily my favourite from game (even though i still haven’t beaten it).

Ah, thought I noticed that! Me likey

I got intrigued by the fact that Fromsoft is doing something other than a fantasy-ish game! Trailer was dope though, first one in a long while that actually got me somewhat excited about a game, so I´m curious how it´s gonna turn out…

Speaking of Sekiro, I really gotta give it a shot in the upcoming months. Probably won´t be able to finish it either though…

him and the hate monkey.

i go back every so often, dabble around and even enjoy getting my shit pushed in (a testament to how go the game is), but i need to sit down and focus on it properly… but the mood has taken me just yet.

it ain’t over yet! ill do it eventually.

highly recommend it though. one of my favourite combat systems. much more tactile and fluid than anything else i’ve played. sifu is the only one i’d say comes close.

Damn, I forgot about Armoured Core! I played one at a mate’s and didn’t enjoy it very much.

I did actually start it back in January. Played for about 2 hours, enjoyed it, got massacred by the first bigger enemy (not even a miniboss I think) and didn´t have the will to invest the time into learning the combat properly, so I uninstalled it for the time being. Really wanna go back to it, though I have doubts about my ability to actually learn the combat system and have the necessary reflexes, lol.

I was aware of its existence, but since it never came out on PC, I quickly forgot about it, lol. Now that it will be on Steam as well, I might give it a go, depending on what the reviews and gameplay will be like.

i find it’s not so much reflex as rhythm based. i learn the patterns rather than react.

to be fair, i’m not exactly the best at it, so @Khakiasp is better suited to describe it.

Not sure that’ll help. Last time I was dead before even noticing there being any sort of pattern :joy:

While I’m not Khaki, I would describe it as pattern recognition. With a few fast moves as exceptions, I have a huge amount of time in which I know what a boss is going to as I can recognise the way they are moving/holding their weapon, moving around the arena and even recognise their body language in relation to attacks. You also learn how your actions trigger moves and how to exploit AI responses. Reaction time isn’t as much of a factor as you might think: treating bosses as learning processes with observation and testing eliminates it within reason.

I think jacob geller described it best, as he often does, its a series of instructions with multiple answers depending on your skill

as ever, that was a damn good video.

A bit late to reply to the same post again, but i finally have some peace and quiet to write down some general tips.

Demon of Hatred

Though he is mainly dodge based a lot of his moves can still be deflected, mainly his headbutt, forward super swipe,stomp-swipe-swipe-stomp. Using these deflects actually helps a lot with bringing his posture up slightly faster.

Each time he runs away, immediatley run after him so he doesn’t iniate either his fireball fling or rain of fire. Running after him the moment he charges away will reliably make it so you only need to dodge a forward attack when yer really close.

In phase 2 always run sideways towards him to more easily jump the follow up on his charge attack.

And make sure to save the malcontent whistle for phase 3 to rush him down.

isshin, the sword saint

Im more familiar with inner isshin so some of these tips might be wrong but

In his first phase you need to get into the habit of attacking twice then deflecting, if you repeat this you’ll get a large chunk through phase 1 with ease. Watch out for both his red attacks. When he deflects and backsteps it will be the jump counter when he deflects and doesnt stands still for a moment it will be the mikiri.

Phase 2 brings in the spear and this is the cause for its difficulty as the spear is wielded in his left hand making it seem unpredictable. I dont have many tips other than his jump towards you attack is easily deflected and that his backwards jump attack either makes him pull out his glock or makes him going in for his 8 hit combo that ends in a mikiri counter.

Phase 3 is mainly a victory lap though his lightning has a somewhat slower timing than genichiros and the okami warriors lightning

All in all
Good luck, hesitation is defeat

Great advice all around, I’d just like to add that Suzaku’s Lotus Umbrella trivialises the fight and does amazing damage with its Projected Force follow up. Even if you don’t crutch on it, it provides one of the most optimal responses to his butt slam (much better than Grappling Hook Attack). Otherwise, mash R1 on dat nutsack and enjoy the jiggle physics. He’s one of those fights that offensive sugars make much easier, because you can stunlock him without Malcontent in the early phases if you have enough raw damage output.

Also a great strategy for demon, though i personally love the spectacle of the giant explosion belly slam with the grappling hook. And yes! The sugars and divini confetti really help with the damage
