Seven Deadly Sins Act 6: Envy

I buy the sins individually (yes I know it’s cheaper not to) but this is the first time I’ve had an issue doing so.

Paid for envy and it shows in the epic store addons but it doesn’t show in game and I can’t access this sin. Anyone else having this issue?

Would appreciate any advice or help with this. Was looking forward to playing it today.

Going to give this a good go tonight, looking forward to this one although i’m slightly concerned by having opposition as I like to take things slow and steady.

Is this a fast paced escalation?

not really, the rival is really quite slow and gives you plenty of time

It seems like a lot people who buy Envy individually on PC aren’t able to access it. You might want to keep an eye on the thread about it here.

Unfortunately, it seems like for now all you can do is lodge a ticket with Player Support and hope they get the issue fixed soon.

Hey Freezer.

We are aware of this issue, and we’re investigating it.

Gotta say, in terms of clever concepts, this Sin takes the cake. I was wondering how they’d realize envy in contrast with greed and pride. Introducing a rival, lavishing praise upon him for his work ethic and overcoming disadvantages when we know the opposite is true, as he cruises past enforcers without issue, is a perfect way to encapsulate IRL envy in a relatable way.

Hi [CannabisJoint], I would say in terms of any of the 7DeadlySin “taking the cake”, metaphorically, I would give this sin to gluttony. - just saying. If you are taking cake, you could be envious of someone taking it, but it probably better fits the big fat pig taking and stuffing themselves with it.

I personally didn’t feel as strongly toward Gluttony as I did toward Greed in terms of feeling like the sin was being fully utilized. Yeah, you want to get as much food for the pig as you can, but the pig seems to represent the gluttony of 47’s clients, rather than himself, and other than completing the challenges, I didn’t feel encouraged to feed the pig anything extra simply for the sake of giving it more food.

I still rank Greed at number one, solely in terms of its sin being fully utilized, in the fact that it is purely 47’s own greed, and it influenced my own, as I took the maddeningly difficult path each time in order to collect all the coins, not just for the challenge, but because I really wanted to have them all and not give any to the frog for extra weapons.

Ranking behind that, I’d put Pride and Envy as tied in terms of representing their sins. Third would be Gluttony, and Sloth and Lust tied for fourth place, as I really can’t understand how their sins are meant to be applied.

Now, as far as enjoyable gameplay, I’ll admit that Greed ranks dead last, as you have to be obsessive to fully represent the sin and that saps away the enjoyment. Pride is a bit better in that you do feel proud in doing it properly, but there’s no real reward beyond that and it doesn’t really have a special gimmick. Sloth was just irritating, but at least engaging enough. Lust was certainly entertaining with its twist, but maddening in how many points there were for something to go wrong. Gluttony was more of a blend of Greed and Pride’s gameplays that was perfected to be more enjoyable. In terms of most enjoyable gameplay, I’m loving Envy immensely. Irritating when something goes wrong, but it gets the blood pumping in an exciting way, not just an angry way, and I think that’s the competition factor.

It all depends on what respect you rank each sin, really. In terms of style and utilization of sin, I’ve got Greed up front, but dead last on gameplay, with Envy taking the top spot for that. And most enjoyable changes to the map? Lust takes the prize for that one.

I’ve have to agree that Gluttony was under-developed in that way. It was optional to give the pig extra food but it could have been a rewarding experience if somehow they really made the effort to get extra stuff worthwhile. I don’t know what sorts of rewards they could have provided but if there was a real incentive to keep feeding the pig, that could have made it a lot more enticing. I sort of felt like it was just really an optional task and if I didn’t feel like doing it, why bother?
If there was an extra unlock (maybe something from Hitman 2016 that we can’t get normally now like the special coins or something) for feeding that pig extra, it would have made me, at least, want to do it a lot more than I did.

The incentive was a full SA rating which to me worked better than Greed letting you exit the level after one kill with perfect SA rating and the greed element only being for challenges

I kinda liked this one but I’m still not too big of a fan of contracts where you have to rush. It’s a fun idea though. I guess you can complete the whole escalation by doing literally nothing and that’s quite hilarious, not sure if you get SA too?

The rival seems to have one scripted method for each target. He can also just walk everywhere past the guards, that cheater. So he will poison Hector, lock sister Lei in the freezer, squeeze McInnis with the grape presser and snipe all level 3 targets. What does he do to Emma?

Did everything perfectly in the suit and that was good challenge. I was delighted to see that the last target was the rival himself. Good riddance. :cowboy_hat_face:

He blows her up when she goes to smoke.

You can also steal his sniper on the third level and he will go find more up close and personal methods for the targets. I didn’t let him get far enough to see what they all were though, I think sabotaging the stove for Helen at least was going to be one.

Just played it through, throughly enjoyed this one, one of the best to date for me.

This escalation is very funny, like a real mission. But It could be better if we had more information about our rival. Who is he What is his story? Why he want to demonstrate he’s better than 47.
However, this is the best mission of Seven Deadly Sins campaign

I don’t think the Rival really has a story; he’s supposed to just be a figment of 47’s psyche based on his fear that he might not be the best after all, making the fact that he was genetically assembled in a lab meaningless, making him meaningless. Notice how the Rival is a bald white man with a few facial features that are vaguely reminiscent of someone who hails from the pacific rim… just like 47. That’s likely because he’s only ever imagined anyone who might be better than him to be one of his “brother” clones, particularly the Mr. 48s from C47, who were also supposedly better than him. And yeah, the Envy cat says the Rival is not engineered, but 47 still can’t imagine a supposedly superior killer who doesn’t look like himself, real or created.

The Rival is Kurt, Novikov’s former bodyguard.

On top of the same face, his outfit is clearly influenced by Sato and seeing 47 at work made him envious, a feeling he had become unfamiliar with after having reached the top job in Novikov’s security detail. He doesn’t run because ever since the rat poison incident he lost much of his control over his bowels.

Cool, I didn’t know that. I made a compilation of all his kills, he doesn’t actually sabotage the stove, just poisons a water bottle next to it.

I dislike this one wholeheartedly. Tying challenges to single playthroughs and forced repetition of three separate missions is not fun. I don’t mind it if it’s getting SASO on one challenge, but to play perfectly three in a row and therefore only having a single way you can play it in order to get that perfection, is bs. This game is supposed to be about cleverness and inventiveness, not “play this exact way every time, over and over and over again, restarting from the top, and hope you succeed.”

ETA: Took me eight hours to finally succeed, and only then it was by sheer luck on the second escalation with the timing. I think if there wasn’t a rival-timer on it, I would have had much less issues and there would’ve been less emphasis on the ‘right’ way to do these escalations and more freedom for creativity.

For those of you who care, I enjoyed Greed and Gluttony the best. Lust and Envy are my least enjoyed for timer SASO reasons. Sloth and Pride were middling.
