Season of The Drop Roadmap - Fall 2024

Moving The Greek Fire Suit from the casual section to the themed - while leaving the fur coat in casual - is a weird move tbh.

Interesting that the oil canister will be opened for use. I wonder if IOI changed its programming or left its functionality as a propane flask - explosion accident tool.

Now, if someone can direct me to where and how I can submit a challenge for IOI’s consideration, which I’ve never done before, that would be great. Maybe I can finally get my tactical turtleneck with gloves that way, because even I’m getting sick of hearing me whine about it by now.

It does not.

Well, what fucking good is it then, other than looking awesome as hell.

I think this is what you are looking for:

The Drop Safehouse decorations:

  • Music studio in the gym looks awesome. There’s nothing to interact with, but I’m all about this aesthetic.
  • The hot tub outside looks nice too, but again, you cannot interact or blend in with it. Missed opportunity there.
  • The Drop’s playlist (or any other new music) is not available via the stereo console in the kitchen.

They forgot to include Surgical Procedure in roadmap.

EDIT: @Combatglue, can you please look into this? Thank you.

I don’t think that’s a good price to pay at all, considering it’s a central disguise for “The Author” mission. I like the outfit as well, but this should’ve been redesigned in my opinion, again, just like the blue flamingo. Just because it’s only useful in one mission does not make it justifiable to use in others.

Salvatore is a “real” person, so that being an unlockable disguise wouldn’t make any sense.

I think the door for that was already wide open, we don’t need to pretend this is anything new. That’s been true since the Jack-o-Lantern suit, not this one. This is justifying behaviour IOI deliberately avoided in the past just because it looks cool, and I don’t think that’s a good enough of a reason.

Also, the Motorcyclist, Baseball Player and Vampire Magician have no effects in a level and are basically suits anyway. They’re just placed in trespassing or hostile areas. I wouldn’t use those as examples.

Given how you’re most likely gonna need to get the outfit in the mission to complete the challenge I feel it doesn’t necessarily take away from the game and its mission story.

That and the Outfit is optional and will be buried alongside the other themes clothing options available.

I for one am okay with making themed and unique level/location specific outfits available for unlocks since they’ve been fan requested for years.

Do I understand correctly that Micro Proximity Taser works as a coin?.. If so, did they just returned Electrecution Phone?..

Yup. It’s pretty much an electrical coin. Balanced in Freelance since allows to get rid of 1 target when you have up to 4.

That doesn’t justify it either! It has an appreciable effect on a mission (I.E, you can just skip the first part of infiltrating the church), and so it shouldn’t be unlockable. By this logic the pink flamingo should be unlockable because people really liked that too and only had effects in Miami.

No of course not, that would be dumb, so IO made a recolour to differentiate it.

I am as well, but not ones that already serve a purpose in another mission. Either re-design it to not have the special in-level abilities, or don’t use it.

The baseball outfit is also something I’d like to see, as that is a suit that doesn’t serve any purpose.

I feel like this shouldn’t be a controversial take, but it apparently is.

Yeah, it is superbalanced for freelancer, but electrocution phone was removed due to ET in first place.

Adding such a powerful item will definitely change way too much

It also broke contracts mode, which certainly didn’t help either.

It takes like 2 minutes to get the disguise in that mission, and it’s pretty easy so it’s not like the “suit” version offers an overwhelming advantage. At worst it’ll just allow speedrunners to shave off a few seconds.

It doesn’t serve any purpose in the main mission, but there are contracts based around that disguise and making it available as a suit would pretty much defeat the purpose of trying to get it from the director’s office.

So in the end, making any disguise available as a suit is always going to break something anyway.

The electric phone didn’t break anything in Contracts mode unless the contract was a single-target electrocution accident. It takes out one target. You still have to deal with the others.

Yeah but… unlocking planning-phase-skipping outfits is already a part of progress in this game… think of the Tuxedo/Auction start in Paris, that lets you skip a whole lot of setup that you’ve done a hundred times… and then we have items like the Requiem suit that provides a quicker exit in Mendoza… does this slight benefit to one side mission from Hitman 2016 really… matter all that much?

I agree with you there.

I did not know that. Onward!

Those are rewards for mastery, the latter being a fairly high reward too. It encourages using the disguise and also speeds things up in a way that feels natural as progression for the player. I really don’t consider that the same thing as an unlock from a challenge added eight years after the fact with no attention paid to how it impacts the game design of the level.

Which is a hidden exit. Man this is such a reach.

For that mission, yes. It doesn’t matter how old the suit is or how obscure it is, it is an in-level disguise that actually does serve a purpose. This should not have been given away like this, sat least, not in its current form.

Stuff like the baseball outfit, the scarecrow or the Plague Doctor outfit are silly suits in trespassing and hostile areas; they’re not useful nor are they really beneficial (the latter is actually trespassing in the church, which is just a straight disadvantage from the suit).

I like silly suits too, but this should’ve been redesigned if it was going to be an unlock.

…uh what? There’s no reason to ever disguise as it. Is it even an in-game challenge to do so? It doesn’t break anything at all if that’s the case.

Which is still powerful. Essentially having a no-consequences free kill button is not a healthy item to have around irrespective of the contract’s conditions.
