The thing that makes this roadmap feel so unfortunate is that there’s a lot that could be done to improve things with the content drought, if IO wanted to:

  • Bringing back the cut challenges from 2016 and 2 and the 38 escalations from 2016 (you know I had to advocate for it yet again)
  • Doing some more challenge packs interspersed among single challenges. Not to toot my own horn, but the Globe-Trotting Assassin challenge pack I came up with is right there in the Challenge Ideas thread!
  • Doing additional ETs which haven’t been done as often in this game, instead of repeating the same exact lineup for 3 straight years. Also, running other ETs/challenges/FCs alongside the big Celebrity ET instead of putting everything on hold for a whole month.
  • Having Featured Contracts batches more often and bringing back Community FC batches. The last one opened to the public on here was the Linux Merry Mysteries batch last December. I have a couple unique ideas for batches and would gladly curate a batch on here IO!

Implementing mods officially into the game. The other points are relatively easy and I know this would take a lot more effort, but if they’re willing to work with fans for FC batches and challenge ideas surely they could work with modders as well. Freelancer Variations would be an absolute dream and add such new life to the mode. But there are also so many other mods that add good things: Offline ETs and Sniper/Seasonal missions, menu and UI improvements, an option to remove the CAPS LOCK text on everything, suit accessory customization options, FOV and camera options, more starting locations and pickups on the side missions, a certain talented modders’ localization revamp, and so much other stuff

Pretty much this.

So long as we’re not pretending it makes any difference to readability, then I’m good with that option too. Drop-shadows help more than text being in either upper or lower cases (and guess what 2016 did with its text? Drop-shadows and light backgrounds!).

You make me blush

The promise of “there’s more surprises to come this year” also isn’t hitting as they clearly intend it to. At this point my expectations are capped at it being something quite small and insignificant.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the ICA Impact Explosive unlock is considered one of those surprises since some people have been asking for it for years. It was just sitting there unused until Freelancer came along.

I’m not too sure to be fair? Hopefully we’ll get a fix soon regardless.

Well I know that @Combatglue has given it back to the Devs, so if they weren’t aware of it (which I’m sure IOI were), they definitely will be now and hopefully we aren’t too far aware from a fix :slightly_smiling_face::crossed_fingers:t2:

Well let’s just wait and see first. IOI surprised us with the McGregor Elusive Target, so hopefully we have more cool stuff coming. Loved that Freelancer had some love in the Spring and Summer roadmaps, so I’m hoping that continues in the Autumn and Winter roadmaps :crossed_fingers:t2:

You put the “Creative” in Creative Criticism, my dude! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::clapper:

Edit: fuck its Constructive, not creative lmao why wasn’t my brain thinking

I know I’m probably just parnoid. However I noticed a few changes.

All of a sudden on Whittleton creek targets in freelancer.

I’m always getting this lady who looks at the schmidt house where the sign is posted in the ground by the garage.

also the guard in janus house in basement.

Last 10 missions total I would say I’m always getting those 2 targets.

not even 2 months ago, that lady was ever a target.

I keep asking myself if any of these different patterns in repeating targets were part of an update.

I wish they bring back all 38, but I say increase it to 100 , heck I’d buy it if they made a special pack out of it.

the CEO when he was talking about hitman, it wouldn’t surprise me if we get a new map based on what he had to say. I wouldn’t rule a new map out.

I wish they would expand the sarajevo 6 to 21.

The Vector in Colorado, That long range type mission, I think could work on Hawkes Bay, Paris (outside) and other maps with wide open areas.

I know IOI is shifting a bunch of resources to other projects, but Hitman is their cash cow, if the latest celebrET didn’t prove that already. Hitman 3 is the best selling Hitman ever, they could easily squeeze out a ton more content that’s just laying around like @lukefsje has mentioned, without having to innovate much.

Of course I have no idea how it is behind the scenes, but this is one of my favorite games of all time, which I’m sure can be said for some of you too. I really don’t want it to fizzle out.

When in doubt, blame the heat.

The target pool that the game can select out of is far too small and it’s very noticeable once you’ve learned a couple targets on the map. I always seem to get the bank teller in the main teller area in New York or a woman in Paris who has a pink dress and drinks champagne.

If you’re on PC i believe there is a mod that can increase the pool and another that gets rid of it entirely which could lead to you getting a target in a crowd who doesn’t move or something so I’d go with option one.

This being said I’ve only actually played 20 or so Campaigns amd I’ve always spread my maps out across the Campaign, it’s an issue i dislike and would advocate they add more to the pool. Even like 10 or 12 more would open it up way more.

Instead they did Himmelstein, Hantu Port, and Siberia. But also made it super grindy, and added various other gimmicks, but kept the “virus makes targets paranoid so they’ll evacuate at the slightest provocation” mechanic.

I agree with you, but there is one positive, at least we’ve had confirmation 47 will be back in the future, so Hitman will definitely be back. I guess it will depend on the Bond sales on how quick IOI get back to Hitman.

Just a heads up for anyone who hasn’t started the latest batch of Featured Contracts. They are possibly one of the worst batches ever released.

Two contracts require you to kill people in the Chongqing Train Station, one with an electrocution accident and the other Unarmed. Now unless anyone knows how to get into this train station (I certainly don’t outside of Violin boosting which is very inconsistent) they are impossible to do 5 star.

You can definitely tell Combatglue didn’t play these before selecting them.

Yeah the past few have been a bit… Eh to put it lightly.
Aside from the odd contract, I’ve been left wanting more. That’s why I’ve joined in making and playing some of the SONKO challenge contracts!
