Rumors about a new Hitman game - let's wait together!

4 more years if you’re lucky! With Project 007 seemingly still at least 12-18 months out at very best (and personally I reckon 24-36 months is more likely) and Project Fantasy presumably further away still, I’d be surprised if we saw another mainline Hitman game released before the early 2030s, even allowing that IOI can now work on multiple projects concurrently.

I think you are right. It’s exciting to imagine how Hitman anno 2030 would be like, although that seems like an eternity.

If they were to go in the direction of Arcane, I would not object to that.

But who knows if that is even technologically feasible in a video game.

One could argue that Life is Strange vaguely looks like it, but again, not really. I think the narrative and mood one can convey with colors and shadows in this art style would lend itself well to Hitman’s moody atmosphere.

I also wouldn’t mind HITMAN taking up a more cartoonish style. Exaggerating features and all.

Movie-like graphics with 3D gameplay?

IO better act fast and hire this guy

Nah I don’t know guys. I don’t even know what kind of style I want for the future Hitman.

I do think that the art style for the latest Hitman is to “polished”. I have always preferred a more dark and gritty Hitman. Absolution did something right in that regard, but that game also did many many things wrong (subjectively, I know).

What I fear is that IO feel like they have found the “right” formula for Hitman in terms of story and art style. I hope they shake it up a lot!

I don’t wish another “Hitman 4” with slightly better graphics. I expect a fresh take on the series. IO should dare to do something different.

I don’t mind the new graphics and art style. what I miss is the tone. new games are James Bond with slapstick comedy sprinkled on top. it’s okay, I just prefer the edginess of Contracts.

I also prefer an edgier and also cartoonish vibe for the new Hitman game. More disgusting, gritty locations in eastern europe and Africa with piece of shit targets. And a few warm, comfortable levels with average Joe targets. Just take a sharp look back on the series, take note of what the fans loved of each game individually, mix it up and you have your new Hitman game.

So maybe an updated version of Contracts or Blood Money’s art style, then? That could be cool…

Yes. I have always said this.

I feel like that labeling the new Hitman games as a “James Bond” formula almost got a troll vibe to it, but that’s not my intention. I really feel like it have become a slightly modified James Bond game.

Yes. Something like this would be ideal to me.

Interview conducted with IOI shortly after Hitman III’s release and they’ve said they will likely have a new take on the game formula when they return to Hitman.

Here is the interview for you:

I know you’re working on Project 007 and Hitman is done for the time being, but do you think that whenever you decide to return the gameplay formula for Hitman will evolve?

I think we will do a new take on it. I have no idea when, but it’s probably in going to be a new Hitman game that moves away from the World of Assassination trilogy in some ways. We don’t know when, we don’t know how, we wanted a bit of closure in Hitman 3 and a moment of hope. You can kind of see that maybe we could pick it up again from there and just do a completely new thing from there with a new espionage thing or whatever. But we could also say, ‘Yeah, it’s done.’ We could just do a complete reboot and start over again. Anything is possible. We don’t know yet but it’s in our DNA and Hitman is not going away.

I personally can see the gaming formula done differently, but also keeping in line with what made the WOA Trilogy so successful. Also, I can definitely see the story picking up years down the line well after the conclusion of 47 and Diana’s Freelance work. Hopefully, they will have established a new form of ICA structure, but done differently.

Hopefully it is what happens after 47 and Diana conclude their Freelance work, but I guess time will tell :slightly_smiling_face:

Mark my words: 2047. And the game will be called «Hitman:2047»

May as well stick with numbering the games stupidly and call it Hitman 47.

Yeah I am sure when it’s finally 2077, we will get robot Ort-Meyer telling cyborg 47 “Wake the :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: up, my friend. We got targets to kill!”

For me it would be amazing to play a hitman game with the look and feel of the promotional art/trailers/loading screens from hitman contracts and bloodmoney hell even silent assassin and codename. Maybe have it take place in the early 2000s. But basically where the gameplay literally looks like this:

Seen people say the year 2030 at the earliest. The series will be 30 years old by then. That’s insane how many years Hitman has been around.

At this point I don’t know what ioi could do differently with the direction of the game. They perfected it with the WoA trilogy in my opinion.

I’m stoked to see what they do with 007 and see how many of those mechanics end up being implemented in the Hitman series going forward.

I like this thread though. It’ll be good to come back to whenever Hitman does return.

I good change I could see if 47 became a mentor to a female assassin. Many things currently base on 47 taking disguises of male NPCs and impersonating them. Having the option to pick 47 or a female assassin at each mission would make a huge difference. That way they could also offer a coop mode where one plays 47 and the other the female one.
