I feel like I’m out of the loop here. What is this “door”?

A lot of Feedback and implementations atleast to me haven’t been added to the extent I personally hoped for, but they added things I liked.

Things I Like

  • PiP

A simple staple to the series since HITMAN Blood Money, it fits the sandbox environments well even if they are delegated to the more situational moments.

  • Briefcase

Another staple, I have no need to explain the purpose for this

  • Bushes

This was needed for Colorado and Fortress style maps which makes them more accessible.

Things I Don’t Like

  • Camera

This feels like a rushed low effort camera mode for HITMAN. That and the gameplay additions it brought are very minor and insignificant since they aren’t retroactively fitted into prior maps some how.

  • The Removal Of Features

Alright this is my biggest pet peeve. The whole knock out during frisk or being frisked with illegal items shouldn’t of been removed. Your actions have consequences atleast let us play the game the way we want and not over simplify it just for the sake of accessibility.

I don’t know. It makes sense to me. It’s not what I would have done for post launch-DLC, but it makes sense why the 7DS is what it is.

  • IO wants to make some more fun DLC people can buy that’s easy enough to make with a small team. They decide “people like suits and cool items, let’s make more packs like the Requiem Pack”.
  • It’s decided they can theme it around the 7 Deadly Sins. It costs the same as the Requiem Pack. Also, a bundle to get all the content as it comes out.
  • Gameplay Designers and Concept Artists come up with an idea to make Escalations with unique gameplay elements or objectives to bundle with the items.
It’s decided to start with Greed where you’ll need to assassinate targets and collect as many coins as possible to complete a challenge. It’s also decided that Pride will have… Something, we don’t know yet.

The rest of the DLC is still undecided, but they’re probably brainstorming a lot of stuff that’s more ambitious or unique than what was in Greed, if Travis’ comments are anything to go by – “I want you to know that escalations are flexible and you’ll start seeing new ways we can make/play escalations than you’re used to in the future.”

So… Point is, the 7DS are only what they are right now because the Gameplay and concept art people decided to pitch in and offer some unique ideas for the theme.
It’s not perfect and I’ve still got some problems with it, but I feel more comfortable with the reasoning behind it… And maybe Pride or Act 3 is going to be the one to really surprise/impress the community.

One thing to note is not every act is set in stone and aren’t confirmed to be just escalations. So the room for something different is there just escalations allow for more concepts.

Even if the price of the DLCs maps had been twice the original amount it wouldn’t had made me more interested in buying any of the Seven Deadly Sins and I would still be a bit disappointed that we got nothing but escalations compared to Hitman 1 and 2.

But let’s say IO would’ve never made a Bonus Episode or a new map. And let’s also assume that none of the games had any Escalation and the Seven Deadly Sins would be the first ones. Would I buy them?

Nope. Because I feel it wouldn’t be worth my money.

Exactly. They’ve got a plan that it’ll span the whole of 2021 (and we’ve got confirmation already that they’re thinking of some more new content for 2022/the Steam launch – nothing to say yet tho).

While it’s a bit worrying that even IO themselves don’t know what’s next for the 7DS, the insight about the process and how it’s brainstormed is very appreciated.
Maybe they can allocate the budget or people for something a bit more ambitious than an escalation, or maybe we can get a really detailed or unique escalation down the line, we’ll see…

They couldn’t have made a list of things we want if there were no feedback.

the hitman 2 “door” is a “door” at ioi studios. it has the hitman 2 cover on it. we believed it was a door for the longest time but its not a door. i literally cant explain it well lmfao someone else could probably explain it better.

I like that they’ve confirmed that they’ve registered the feedback (some of it negative) around Escalations being (so far) the only ‘mission’-style content in the Sins DLC, and - without making any promises - said that this feedback might influence the content to be included in future Sins Seasons.

No one wants HMF to be a toxic worst-of-Reddit/Twitter cesspool where people scream senselessly into the void, but it’s good to hear that IOI are acknowledging that they want to have a conversation with the fanbase and that, as long as it’s delivered in a respectful and constructive way, they are willing to listen to feedback both positive and negative to inform their future decision making process.

I’m really glad that they’re open to listening to constructive criticism, and that it’s up to us as a community to give honest feedback in a spirit of good faith and respectfulness.

I don’t have much to say (other than, sigh, yet another month with no shoulder swap). And at least they confirmed the rest of the Sins will be escalations so at least that nips in the bud all the folks that were swearing to high heavens that we could totally get bonus missions lol (which never made any sense, but people will convince themselves of anything)

That said, that new suit will be interesting when the game gets raytracing lol.

@schatenjager …“anomaly”? Even if we’re not talking about full blown new missions, it’s still very poor value compared to HITMAN 1’s Patient Zero Campaign. The “anomaly” here, if anything, is the Sins.

My take:

  1. IOI are now independent and they alone are responsible for their marketing. They are more dependent on responding to feedback from their community of fans. IOI are putting in place better communication practices (regular updates, official FAQs on their website, a better bug reporting interface).

  2. IOI is more of a “mom and pop” enterprise than a corporate entity – composed of gaming enthusiasts who are as emotionally invested in providing excellent content that pleases their fan base.

  3. As the face of IOI to the community, Travis B. is trying his best to appear authentically human and responsive to community feedback. It is his job as community manager to do so, and a part of IOI’s success involves the duo of Clemens and Travis to better connect to the community.

  4. Much of the recent negative feedback has been about expectations, and Travis made it clear that it was a poor communication issue from his end in not relaying what IOI was hoping and planning to do, and also tempering expectations of what was forthcoming.

  5. For the time being, the focus of new Hitman content is largely going to be like the Easter Egg Hunt DLC, which is highly polished add-on content, that focus more on excellent puzzle-making to existing maps than on new world building, which require a larger team to execute. Everything is a work in progress, and not even IOI knows what they have planned for Hitman content outside of the short term. IOI would rather say nothing and keep expectations low than say something that raises expectations beyond what they are confident that they can meet.

  6. Did anyone have mention of “golden helicopters” on their Bingo card?

To the DLCs. I think they are kinda overpriced, buuuuut, I think it’s cool that they are there. I don’t think that there will be any new locations for now. What some people might forgot is that New York and Haven were story related. They weren’t just some random locations, they continued the story and they were an Interface between Hitman 2 and Hitman 3. Now the story is told, it ended.

I can’t say that I’m not still hoping for one or two new locations in a far future. I’m still hoping for a DLC with Grey. But right now it makes no sense. Just let the story sink in a bit. And the seven deadly sins are kind of a funny pastime. They will last almost a year who knows what will happen after thatz but for now, just let’s have fun with them :relaxed:

If I was to make a prediction, IOI will introduce shorter non-Hitman type DLC content within a few years as a bridge before completion of Project 007 or other new IP requiring a longer four to seven years development cycle.

I suspect that IOI will be wanting to beta test new mechanics needed for new IP such as Project 007, such as a Mafia3 or GTA V driving / flying mechanic, and more advanced gun-play not realized in Hitman.

If I recall correctly, they said that there would be something where you can get different outcomes depending on what you do in the escalation. I will try and find a clip if I can. They even mentioned that they can do so much more than we know in escalations that is coming up in the future. Can’t wait to see and I like how they have practically mastered escalations now, there has been no bad escalation in Hitman 3 yet.

I´m really happy to hear that the lighting in the legacy maps is being addressed. Hopefully it will now look its best and we won´t have any more of those moments of complete darkness or blinding bloom (or generally a bit too high contrast) :+1:

Though I am a little concerned whether the overall filter in Sapienza is getting changed back from the current yellowish one to the more clear one. Fingers crossed it is :grimacing:

All I’m hoping for is that the IAGO room is fixed.

Logging in from work and see that this is still pinned in the main forum index. @cake941
