[MOD] Freelancer Variations

Currently I haven’t made a new showdown brick for any Berlin variants, I just can’t be arsed making one to tweak a single bottle lel

Placing Thirsty suspect acts is quite difficult because unless it happens to be used in that exact showdown as I’m testing/placing it (only a small % ever are) then I can’t actually see it, I only see the point on the ground where the suspect stands, there’s no visual indication to me of where the bottle is going to be. Even now if I tried to fix it it would probably take several Hawke’s Bay showdowns for that exact one to show up in game, and then it’s position won’t update until the suspect drinks it and puts it down. It’s just way too much time/effort at this stage but thanks for letting me know.

Getting rid of the umbrella acts for daytime would involve me re-doing all civilians’ dramas and hooking them up with pinconnectionoverrides, same with the spawn; it’s just a lot of effort for something so small when I’m trying to basically do new maps/missions at the moment with no shortage of work.

I will try look into that body container in Mendozer, it must be either added by The Iconoclast or the Freelancer brick for Mendozer :thinking: I will track it down and delete it

1.7.8 - Train Update and Various Fixes

There’s been an increase of streamers and 'tubers playing this mod, I’ve been watching what I can and picking up on things that could be improved and acting accordingly. Since I didn’t get around to finishing the standalone Passenger Train mod yet, I’m breaking the changelogs into FV and Passenger Train.

A simultaneous update of Sandbox Hantu Port and Chongqing Noodle Massacre has been released, so make sure to read their changelogs (particularly Hantu’s, make sure to update that mod if you play it)

Passenger Train changelog

  • Adds new carriage (NPCs can hear through its walls, nothing can be done about it!) and NPCs
  • Replaces office staff with hospitality staff
  • Adds Restricted Access sign to kitchen entry
  • Stationary guard in pool table room no longer enforces guard disguise
  • Unlocks carriage door in middle of staff section

FV Changelog:

  • Passenger Train: Adds the new NPCs as targets, removes barely moving public female as a target, reduces supplier zone to not be as ‘busy’, adds safe and clues to early passenger carriages, variant picker website now makes Colorado host the Train by default (not New York)
  • Whittleton Night: Moves supplier from Vholes’ security basement
  • Landslide Day: Dott. Docciaborsa no longer waits ages for Abiatti (who is dead/not in this variant)
  • Hantu: Integrates new exit, make new NPC a MILD target
  • Mendoza Midday: Removes The Iconoclast body container that clips with a bench from The Heartbreaker

No SDK/JSON update required

1.7.9 - Train Exit Hotfix

I was in such a rush to finally just get this update out I forgot one small but important thing… fixing the exits now the WIP bonus mission exits are in the files.

Possible issue with the new “Newspaper” spawn not working, but I have to shoot off to work. Also only had time to update in SMF autoupdater, not Nexus

1.7.10 - Train ENTRANCE Hotfix

Changelog

  • Newspaper entrance now works ‘properly’, but beware you will not be blending in for the first several seconds, if your target happens to be in front of you in alerted version then you will be insta enforced. Obviously I don’t know how to fix this or it wouldn’t be the case.
  • Got rid of bad duplicate beer bottle blend in spot

There was a weird gltich during developtment where objectives on Hawke’s Bay didn’t work until the campaign restarted, but I’m going to put that down to a rare Peacock glitch.

The mod crashes for me ever since this conner mcgregor update. At least on the map I tried to load, Colorado.
(edit: crashes on every map load)

It happened to me as well. There is an SMF update.

I did the smf update and the it still crashes. I’ll try again tonight, maybe there was another update

(edit: still crashes for me latest SMF update)

It’s been working for me (on Epic) after updating SMF, updating the mods and re-applying the mods.

Do you have other mods installed? If so, maybe try enabling them one by one to check if a specific one causes the crashing.

I can confirm this, it works if you:

  1. Update SMF
  2. Update Freelancer Variations
  3. Re-Apply Freelancer Variations Mod (and all other mods you are using)

This is a bad weekend for figuring out issues for me, been too busy, won’t have a chance to look at anything til Monday morning. But I’m going to assume all issues are SMF-side ,not mod-side

Thx that worked for me

A crate can spawn at the front of the train but the wrong way around and thus be unopenable. Nice cameo in that carriage btw :wink:.

1.7.11 - The Disruptor


As it turns out, the other ETs (aka The Appraiser) deleted too many things that are used in The Disruptor, so rather than having three ETs on a single variant to make it a really different variant to vanilla Sgail, I had to make a third variant just for The Disruptor; but not until after I did a bunch of work on ETs (Day) variant. Did you know that this entire time no ET NPCs have been picked as targets because I put the wrong ID in for something? Well now when you play that variant you won’t get the same old boring vanilla targets! Also I didn’t like how blue that variant was, so now it’s grey.

Changelog

  • New Variant: Isle of Sgail - The Disruptor (Sunset)
  • Isle of Sgail - ETs (Daytime): ToD changes, ocean horizon fix, crowds removed, new target list now actually works for the first time in this mod, Washington bodyguards don’t search map for their clients, fixes presumed issue with one suspect not evacuating during showdown
  • Romania: Rotated stash in Constant’s carriage to right direction
  • Berlin Egg Hunt: No longer get frisked at front gate, unlockable Easter suit now counts as an Easter outfit in the map

You will need to update your JSON to play The Disruptor

On the topic of the bodyguards for campaign targets, is them not searching the intended behavior across all variants or are there variants in which you left them searching?

On the topic of which NPCs can be selected as Freelancer targets - I recently found a mod that allows any NPC to be chosen (with options to disable a few troublesome NPCs). Do you know if this is compatible with FV, and is it something you play with? Added variety is great but I guess it comes at the cost of some near impossible Silent Assassin’s?

From one Aussie to another, thanks for all the hard work you have and continue to invest in this mod, I have really enjoyed playing Freelancer on Hawke’s Bay/Hantu/the train.

Correct

It’s up to that mod creator to make compatibility. I tried having more randomly selected targets when I did AHBOS, it was awful… kept getting people standing still in the middle of shisha cafe crowd etc. So it will never be part of the base mod. And no I don’t play with that mod (Although I think there is another mod being made where it judges each NPC individually to see reasonable targets IO missed)
