May Roadmap Discussion

Anyone have any guesses as to what may be in the May 24th patch?

It’s definitely going to have a fix for the 200 item bug. I hope it also has fixes for some of the other things that have been broken for a while (I find this amoosing, the Envy suit not having glasses, Lucas Grey in the Isle of Sgail, Hokkaido’s zen garden not having a map, etc)

Don’t forget the missing upgraded hunting rifle and the ICA19 disappearing whenever preloading it inside a briefcase is involved.

Challenges for Featured Contracts and Escalations organized left to right in numerical order.

A guy can dream.

Oh, also, like, bug fixes and stuff.

HEY, LISTEN.

I believe that is the 200 item bug. I have the same issue, except with the Enram HV Covert instead of the Hunting Rifle and ICA19.

This is limitation in 200 item not bug .

Still a bug i.e. a flaw in the code because ioi never thought the limit of 200 items would ever be exceeded. :joy:

Don’t think that’s a flaw in the code (something unseen or unintended while have the opposite effect in mind) as it is a flaw in IO’s planning (:man_shrugging: How were we supposed to know?), but I’m no programmer.

For those of us old enough to remember, there was this thing about 22 years ago where computer clocks couldn’t deal with the change in the year. I was a programmer at the time and inherited plenty of old code that had to be fixed. Everyone called it the Y2k “bug” even though it was not a bug but, much like the 200 item limit, was just bad planning.

In the case of Y2k it was due to expensive memory needs while the 200 item limit is likely due to not wanting to use a different data type, but it’s the same in principle.

Tbh when I think 200 item bug, my mind immediately crosses at Minecraft’s “The Flattening” - before version 1.13, each block was assigned a number, meaning every block and their block states was compacted into 255 string ids with no way of extending the 255 limit. It left no room for additional blocks, hence they were “flattened” into their own ids.

Basically if you had to resort to this image, you were probably old enough to remember how frustrating it was to remember the ids.

I would classify it as a bug, because an error had to be generated when your inventory had exceeded 200 items, instead the program choose to discard a random item.

Agree. The handling of the code once 200 items is exceeded is the bug, not the limit itself.

We really are desperate for content if we’re arguing the semantics of bugs.

It’s an oversight, not a bug.

For what it’s worth, IOI believe that they’ve resolved the issue and a fix is in the May patch:

As mentioned, this is more an oversight than an actual bug, as the 200 items at a time limit existed since Hitman 1.

I don’t wanna make a new thread to ask about this but a melee weapon “Ice Axe” that is an Escalation unlock, wasn’t in H2 despite Hitman Wiki says so? Ice Axe | Hitman Wiki | Fandom

Perhaps whoever wrote that the item is available in H2 learned that it was hidden in game files. I don’t recall the axe was an unlockable for H2, either.

Yep, it was found via randomizer in H2 and made unlockable in H3. Similiarly to Professional Screwdriver.

Are you telling me there was already a screwdriver in the game files before I made this suggestion??

We’ll hot damn. These devs know what’s up.

Plenty of stuff coming tomorrow! Which one is the most you’re looking forward to?

  • New challenge for Berlin Egg Hunt & Rabbit Suit
  • New batch of ET Arcade & Ducky 5mm
  • PC RayTracing
  • General bug fixing & QoL improvement
  • Hidden stuff that might appear later in the leak thread
  • None of above. I’ll just wait for Ambrose Island
