Mainly a post intended directly for @Combatglue, @Sparx and any other IOI community-related staff registered on the forum that I’ve missed:
IOI’s main social media platforms of choice seem to be Twitter/X and Facebook. Obviously these are platforms with very large numbers of legacy users and it makes a lot of sense for IOI to concentrate their comms efforts on these sites, but I was wondering whether you guys as Community Managers would be able to duplicate IOI official updates on any similar alternatives to the Big Two, please?
Personally I’d love to move completely away from Twitter/X - and many accounts that I follow now have moved onto other platforms - but as things stand I don’t want to miss out on finding out that a new Roadmap blogpost has been released, or that there’s been an official notification of WoA sever downtime etc, and so I’m loathe to completely leave Elon’s hellscape for good. But if IOI and HITMAN updates could also be duplicated on alternative platforms - Bluesky would be my preference, if you’re asking! - then the updates could stay in place for the big beast legacy sites, but it would also give folks a chance to skip those sites without losing all the official info updates that we love.
No worries if there are reasons why this can’t be a goer, but if you don’t ask you don’t get. Thanks!
The best place, in my opinion, for those announcement is right here on Hitmanforum.com! I don’t use X for anything - I’d never know if IOI put anything on that platform.
I’d love for them to bring back the simplistic companion app they had during Season One. It would send you a notification when Elusive Targets were going live.
Could expand on it to push notifications out about roadmaps and other announcements, rather than solely relying on people to see messaging on social media. Would be a great alternative.
Hell, they could even allow you to login to your IO account in the app and use it to push notifications of sales on DLC for your platform that you don’t own for the game yet. Lots of ways they could benefit from it.
And Instagram and all they do is showing how they party and relax and I kinda want to comment “Less fun more work” because it’s taking way too long for that Bond game
Hey,
Thank you for raising a good point, I am happy to provide some clarity.
Our main social channels are X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook. We also occasionally use Threads, Discord, and Reddit. Additionally, we’ve been focusing on TikTok as part of our priority to explore more platforms.
Each platform has its culture, strengths, and limitations, so it’s all about resource management. For example, Bluesky lacks integration with our social media tools, making managing it more resource-intensive. In contrast, platforms like BiliBili would then probably offer a better return at the moment.
That said, we always push major content updates on our website and via our email list, and I’ll try to post more here as well.
@Combatglue can you shed any light on why it seems like it always takes at least a full day after any announcements on Twitter, Facebook, etc. before the emails go out? Why the delay?
I’ll need to check on this, but typically our emails are more comprehensive, and we send them a few hours after things go live to ensure no issues arise. Social media is easier to adjust, as it’s less disruptive to post again there compared to sending multiple emails, which can feel like spam.
Haha, I actually can’t tell if the post is a serious one or sarcastic.
But I choose to think someone is joking when stuff like this pops up, I mean most of our parties are on Fridays and most people tend not to understand how gaming studios works… for instance, you REALLY do not want me going in and fixing “bugs” I would blow up the game.
@Combatglue with more people now switching over to Bluesky it would be great if you guys could cross-post stuff you post on Twitter over there.
I know you said that it (unfortunately) lacks integration with the tools you use (hopefully that changes!), but as someone who is moving over there, and with the recent Twitter controversies, it would be a welcome addition.
