Hello there! Haven’t seen any forum games on HMF lately so I’ve come up with one of my own.
It’s inspired by GeoGuessr browser game. The main principle is to look at the suggested screenshot from a Hitman game and guess the place where it was taken. Hitman’s level-design is incredibly diverse and it’s great to take advantage of that!
Gameplay:
A player takes a screenshot in a Hitman game and sends it to this thread, provided it’s their turn. They can provide a hint if they like.
Other players (the guessers) try to guess or deduce where the picture was taken. They are free to discuss this together in the thread or to conduct investigation of their own in the game.
If a guesser is sure they got it right, they have to write out their guess, describing the location as detailed as possible – for example, the name of the level is not enough. The first player has to confirm whether this was the right answer and if it was sufficiently described – for example, just saying it’s Palais de Walewska is once again not enough as the building is quite big and includes many diverse interiors.
Alternatively, the guesser can find the location in the game and provide a screenshot of their own that proves that they found the exact place. There’s no need for confirmation from the initial poster in this case, unless the guesser somehow confused the location with another.
When a guesser provides a correct answer and it’s confirmed by the initial poster, they have the right to provide next screenshot for others to guess or they can waive that right to any other forum member, specific or not.
Example:
Player A: Alright, it’s my turn. Can you guess this place?
Player B: This is in one of the rooms in the basement of Paris, right? Player A: Nope. Player C: Alright, I found it! It’s in the basement at Wilson’s residence, Whittleton Creek.
You are free to take screenshots in any mainstream Hitman game in any of locations, but it’s strongly recommended to keep it to World of Assassination.
Your image has to be comprehensive and clear. Some ambiguity is in order, but it shouldn’t be achieved by taking screenshots too close to game objects so it’s impossible to make out anything.
You are free to use in-game camera, freecam or Ansel, but please only take screenshots within the playable area of things that can be seen by your average player.
While cropping your screenshots and turning up or down the exposure is alright, please do not edit your screenshots in a drastic way. It’s not fun when you try to guess the place going only by an incomprehensible image.
Mods that change levels’ appearance or allow you to access out-of-bounds areas are not allowed.
Let’s start!
Alright, I hope you’re clear on the rules now! Let’s start with this one. Can anyone guess where this is?
Yeah, good job! This corner looks so distinct compared to the rest of the consulate, not to mention the rest of Marrakech. And it’s probably the last map you’d associate these servers with
Didn’t expect to win
I prefer leaving my turn to you @Hotel_Pollisya or to @magicdave94 as I play on console. So I don’t have the opportunity to do great pics and to import them on this forum.
It’s on Isle of Sgail. If you start at the pier and make your way up the little path on the outside of the castle, you can enter the sewers, which lead to a small room with a high ceiling. In there is a waitress (event staff?), who makes a phone call. The picture shows the ground of the room, close to where the Hackl 9S Covert is buried.
PS: If you want to play more GeoGuessr with video game locations, there is this handy website: https://lostgamer.io/ No Hitman yet unfortunately, but the GTAs are fun too.
Miami, Maxwell Rutter Office’s bathroom, above the Sotteraneo Garage.
Excellent choice. (and I see your photo framing with the Pit Building Keycard just outside of it)
Damn, that’s a sneaky one. Took me longer to work out than the pipe hidden behind the metal grill that Hotel_Pollisya posted above.
But I’m not going to post the answer just now, so that other people get the chance to solve it.
Well, the photo was taken in Whittleton Creek, specifically during the “A Bitter Pill” mission. It shows the now furnished bedroom of the formely empty house, which has become the home of the mission’s target Galen Vholes.
I can see why this had many people stumped. Most of us probably only remembered the empty house. I’ve played this side mission not many times myself and it took me a while to figure out, that the map revamp added some interiors to the empty building.
Still I thought the photo was an interesting choice and I’ll probably play that mission again soon, since it’s intriguing me now.
