HITMAN 3 VR: Reloaded (Meta Quest 3 Exclusive) - Sept. 5th 2024

Finally reinstalled to test patch 2. Game now clocks in at a whopping 40GB - more than Batman and Metro combined… and it’s still broken. Like the last patch, it did fix some things - but at the expense of other things. I noticed way more things that are now broken rather than improved, with the rating system being the only noticeable plus.

Aside from the rating system, I’d say that the launch version is the best of the three since the game has gotten progressively worse. It’s like those cartoons where the character plugs a leaking ship hole only for three more to appear.

I’ll put out a video on it, but I’d say the game is beyond redemption.

IOI, if you’re listening, don’t invest more into Hitman 3 VR. Get Flat2VR to make a VR version of Silent Assassin or Blood Money instead, as that would play better and look better. Resi 4 VR is the best game on Quest (excluding Metro  ) so there’s no reason you couldn’t do the same thing! Give us a good Hitman game on Quest. After XR Games’ disaster, I think they deserve it!

Not sure about the classics, but a VR dedicated standalone Hitman game, designed specifically to accomodate all quirks of VR and make the best use of them, instead of trying to shoehorn a flatscreen game into VR, can have some incredible potential!

That could be cool. Perhaps like Contracts where he’s remembering old contracts. Then you could have a mix of levels from every game, with perhaps some new levels in there too!

Here’s some brief footage and thoughts on the patch. I wish I could include stuff like the black screen when walking through the ducts when it loses tracking, but the length of the short isn’t enough to show off all the problems that still exist and have been added.

Are unlocks still broken? For me that’s the main issue with this release. They even mention non-default starting locations fixes in patch notes, but as far as I understand, there’s no way you can unlock them

Starting locations have always been unlockable even though they dont tell you how. However, there’s nothing more bar like two or three items.

We’ve just checked out the latest patch for Hitman 3 VR Reloaded. Still pants, but it’s moving in the right direction.

Came down here to say I dont understand the hate with the game.

It’s a buggy mess, sure (in some places); But the gameplay is fun and often times the bugs are part of that.

I had a good hour or so taking a crack at Dubai, messing about, getting into dumbass situations, and even getting through the mission. Obviously, each to their own. But I still had a laugh looking at the Meta Horizon reviews.

It is definitely improving, but still needs a lot of work. A VR game should not run this badly and have so few functional interactions. That should be the bare minimum for a VR experience.

The base game underneath is still fun, but this game ports it so badly that it dampened my love for the game.

I hope they continue to patch it though and maybe one day it will feel like the game it should have been.

I don’t see how it runs badly at all, I think it’s quite the opposite.

The game is running on a 27gb file, it’s not gonna look good by any stretch of the imagination; But it has it’s own style though.

And functional interactions? I think there’s more than enough, I love duel-wielding sawn-offs.

Framerate for me is intolerable at times. It is better now with the latest patch but still not as smooth as it ought to be.

As for the interactions, some of it (like climbing) barely works. Some do, and they have added more, but it should have lots more. I also find it hard to pick up items dropped by enemies as you tend to pick up the body instead.

Art style is fine for what it is, especially as they fixed the worst stuff from launch. Now it is only the trees.

Still, after the last patch I am optimistic that they will make it better. For me they need to sort out the framerate, the interactions, and add more unlockables since there are barely any
