HITMAN 3 Soundtrack / OST - Discussion

Thanks, man. Glad to be here!

Wow, the one and only Niels Bye Nielsen is here!

I love your work on the World of Assassination trilogy, you really managed to capture the ambience of each location and create memorable tracks, especially starting from Hitman 2 (though I’m a bit sad that you stopped the trend of each level having its own combat theme, even if there were small variations in H2).

Dynamic music is one of my favorite features of the newest games, and when I realized that the Hitman 2016 official OST was missing many parts you could hear in-game, it inspired me to extract everything from the game files and try to blend all tracks for each level in a mix for that’s still pleasant to listen to (which I hope is fine with you? Legally at least?).
In fact it helped me to appreciate your talents even more when I discovered that behind every measly 5mn of music in the OST, one hour of original composition was actually hiding in the shadows.

While I’m at it, I was wondering if the official soundtrack could be updated in the future with some missing tracks. In particular I’m thinking about some briefing themes from Hitman 2 (the ones that play in cutscenes) and Patient Zero.

Hello, I’m French. For several days, I have been listening hitman’s music on Youtube. Thanks also to Salem. It’s a good job.

I’m annoyed that I still don’t know what is that soundtrack that plays in briefing of new ET’s (from H2).

Does anyone recognize this music?

Welcome to the forum Niels

I can’t remember, but where you also involved with the Cinematic trailers themes? Also I would love to learn more about your process, inspiration and so on. It would be an very interesting read, it’s always special to read about or see behind the scenes and how things got shaped.

Oh no, it’s man himself. Hello, and welcome to forum!

I guess it’s my chance to ask you about that simple, yet slick and nicely escalating track for ET’s intros. Does it have a name and why it wasn’t part of original OST that was relased as part deluxe edition? Was it too small and minor to be added or was there another reason?

Sounds like one of the MANY variations of ā€œThe Story So Farā€.
Welcome Niels, you have made AMAZING works!

I’ll do a quick speed-run set of answers, starting with Norseman, as Jedi Masters are not to be ignored and trifled with:

@Norseman - I’ve done a couple of Trailers for HM2 and HM3, but trailers are usually handled by the IOI marketing department. So as an example, The HM3 announcement trailer track is NOT written by me. I repeat, NOT written by me :grinning: And I couldn’t even tell you did write it.
And as for process insights, that’s a longer story I’ll reserve for later. Right now, the process is: Work 15 hours, eat, sleep, work 15 hours… And that’s 7 days a week, mind you. It’s all glitz and glamour, man.

@Salem - Yeah, I can look into dusting off the Patient Zero music. The Sniper Assassin music is something I’ve also been asked about. Here’s a fact: This is my first ever ā€œmembershipā€ anywhere on this here internet. No Twitter, Snapchat, Youtube etc. (I just realized my ancient, neglected website hasn’t worked for years, as Flash is no longer a thing…) I honestly didn’t realize to what extend you fine folk care about my silly little notes! But it’s freaking flattering as hell and I’m now gonna have to start keeping my ego in check :grinning:

@Nicolas_Brigaud - Being French is cool, dude, and thanks for listening :clipperton_island:

@BradleyPaine - I recognize that music! I made a track for the first briefing and then provided a music LEGO tool kit for the cinematics guys (Shout out to Nick, Aske and Sebastian), for them to use for future briefings.
They all vary in the length to a certain degree, so this way they can produce all the briefings in the world without being dependent on my availability.
As as for why they’re not on the OST: There are hours of music in a Hitman game, with all the layers of musical intensity, stingers and various cues. When putting together the soundtracks, I tried to tell a story and turn all the elements into something that’s worth listening to on it’s own. This mean picking and choosing, killing darlings left and right and omitting whole sections. Elusive Target briefings just didn’t fit in.

I think I got it all! A general thanks to everyone for the support through the years! Support I only now realize exists but better late than never.

And now back to the grind :grinning:

You can’t imagine how much. The community really appreciated your work on the WOA trilogy, and it was not easy after the work done by Jesper Kyd on the 2000’ games, but now you’re a legend man. I’m on another French Hitman forum, everyone there is unanimously positive about everything you did.

Good luck for your next project.

Thanks for all of these explanations you do, much appreciated.
And as @Hardware said, it wasn’t easy to make something good enough (read it as LEGENDARY) so fans don’t feel Kyd’s absence.

Have a great time.

Hi there, i ll just wanna ask… where can i buy the club hƶlle track in a high quality? I want this set so badly… i cant find word for discribing the feeling i got when i entered in game the club… HELLYA!!!.. is the best way to say… Would be rly rly great to get a response from you IOI or Niels Bye Nielsen direct… (just mail me, dm me here  )

Deluxe Edition of HITMAN 3 contains a soundtrack to all three games of the Trilogy, and this track included in HITMAN 3 soundtrack.
Quality is 320 kbps MP3, I guess the best you can find

So how about the music in that new DLC trailer? Are we going to have to beg for the song like we’ve begged for those used in the H3 launch trailer and announcement trailer?

Will that be added at some point? Won’t lie, Himmelstein’s music is probably the main reason I wanted to get the soundtrack!

I adore how each Location in Hitman 3 has a unique Exfiltration theme that plays when you leave the level. Mendoza’s is 10/10 the best one, IMO. (Even better when the final 7-or-so notes on the results screen plays and ends just as your XP bar is all caught up. Super satisfying.)

Same for me, the best, 10/10. I enjoy tangos and milongas and the Hitman theme in this rythm was perfectly arranged and fitting of the situation.

My second favorite exfiltration theme is Berlin’s. Very, very dark and oppressive, really adds emotion to it.

I gotta agree that Mendoza has the best exfiltration theme, but man, Dartmoor’s growing on me

I love how in the main mission, (at least on the first playthrough) when you’re forced to go all the way back to the motorbike, there’s the slow, tense buildup of the music as you get closer and closer to the exit… It’s such a minimal touch, but it’s so effective in setting the mood.
I get chills from that. The good kind.

final custom mix for the main levels by @Salem  Carpathian Mountain’s OST is definitely one of my favorites

Oh my gosh this is so good. There’s some massive sections of the main Untouchable track there. The quietness of when you’re sheltered in a train car is great, I love how it shifts to something new based on where you are in the train. (That Reprise Suite near the end is awesome.)

The In Constant Motion from the Soundtrack does have a few of the Untouchable main track, but a very minor amount.
Salem is the Snyder Cut of Hitman’s music. Such great mixing.

brb gotta replay romania
