Same to me, restarted, it continues to happen… idk what to do, really
Yes, stuttering on initial load of a level, when moving, panning camera, shooting, other moments of action, etc. It seems to go away over time as you continue to play. For me, it comes back on a computer restart and just sucks all around. Buttery smooth prior to this patch. I’ve tried so many troubleshooting steps, mostly DDUing drivers, reinstalling, verifying game, etc. I installed the Nvidia driver from August 10th and the flickering was fixed, but stuttering continues to happen.
Do you still have this issue cc? First time playing in a while and I’m having the exact issues you described. I never used to have them before a recent patch.
Still the very same issue since the July patch. I’m secretly hoping that the RTX update will solve the issue but I doubt it. Game has been unplayable for mr for most of its lifetime now, it’s a shame.
What are your specs guys ? I run a 2700x + 2080
What kind of issue you’re talking about? And it’s been a while since the update, why haven’t you reported to the official support already? Anyway, you may post your issue within the following thread. Be sure to list as much details as possible. Or else, you may use the official support website to send a ticket.
There seems to be some server maintenance going on right now on all platforms.
Cool! I can’t access my console now, but you could check if game update is available. The game likely needs to be updated to have the ET arcade mode and those sweet new rewards.
I have this issue since the July patch too. Stuttering on initial load of a level, when moving, panning camera, shooting, other moments of action, etc. Each time I install a new Nvidia driver. And the issue disappear after one hour or two. RTX 2080 here.
Technical Explanation :
In short, every time the game compiles a shader, a stutter appears. DX12 and Vulkan games need a shader cache to work without stuttering everytime a shader is compiled. Some games compile all the shaders when the game is launched but it can take several minutes. IO didn’t choose to do this to make the game start very quickly. They preferred to pre-compile the shaders, and include them in each update.
But I think this shader cache can’t be used by every computers, because it can vary depending on the hardware. So I think the cache that IO provides is not fully compatible with some GPU, so the game compiles the shaders itself during gameplay. And stutters ends up disappearing after 1 or 2 hours.
But you have to know that every time you reinstall your drivers or make a DDU, the cache is cleared and the game has to recompile everything from scratch. Cache clearing can also happen after a game update.
I know that Steam collects pre-compiled shaders from players and distributes them among those who have similar hardware. Thanks to this technique, shaders stuttering are mostly solved.
What I do before each driver update or game update, I make a backup of my shaders to avoid all of this. But this is something that developers and stores can fix.
I’ll keep the page up and keep checking, but I’m sure there’ll be an hour or 2 to go. I’d bet it’s uploading the assets etc. to the game, but probably won’t go live until Thursday.
Edit: Oh, right. Right.
PSA:
3 Maintenance To prepare for H3 Year 2 launching on January 20, we’re taking all Hitman games services offline for a scheduled 4-hour maintenance between 10am-2pm CET on 17th Jan. Servers for H1, H2, H3 and IOI Account are all impacted.
I have exactly the same problem after the July patch. Stuttering occurs on 3 different PCs with different hardware. The stutter appears immediately after starting the level and lasts approximately 30 seconds. After restarting the game, the problem recurs. This is the same problem that really annoyed me in Hitman 2, but which was completely absent in Hitman 3 at release.
Could you tell me where is the shader cache directory for the EPIC version?
Here :
C:\Users\YOURUSER\AppData\Local\IO Interactive\HITMAN3
C:\Users\YOURUSER\AppData\Local\NVIDIA
But this is very strange, as if the cache was not saved. For me, it’s fine as long as I don’t install a new driver or when I backup my current shaders.
Hopefully IOI will re-upload a new shadercache for everyone, like day one, with the next patch. Maybe the current one is simply outdated… I really had no issue from January to July 2021.
Thank you!
I agree. I thought the same thing after reading your post. It looks like the compilation happens every time I start the game. Again and again. Very strange.
In any case, thank you very much!
